This actually isn't true. Some mods are better then those so called professional works. Of course i talk here about very small percentage. Some things that Bethesda did in Skyrim are very amateurish for example.

My textures for Dragonborn aren't available anywhere. Not even on torrents.

Brave words! Unfortunately for you words don't count ;) I have downloaded your landscape and Whiterun textures, and that is very poor job. Only textures that are good are wood textures, which are pretty much the simplest textures to make. This is the same case with any other big texture mod - the simplest textures to make are one that look good. Here is for example your "road01" texture:   This is very strange road. I have a feeling that stones are floating like they aren't part of the land? Blending is very bad. Also texture lacks details, it's messy, etc. I have never seen this kind of road in my life, and i'm sure that you didn't also. Here is my new "road01" texture. I still make and improve textures when i'm bored, but not for public. This looks like a real road, very detailed road. And road stones should be more flat. It is a road after all! It is not true that my textures are sharpened and resized. About 70% of SRO are my textures. But some vanilla textures can be improved, so why would i throw out this texture!? It doesn't make sense. And I'm gonna tell you a little secret about many of my textures that look like vanilla, but they aren't vanilla at all. These are my textures that look 98-99% like vanilla, but much better and more detailed. Source for many Skyrim textures is CG Textures site - https://www.cgtextures.com/ I have found the same materials that Bethesda used for many textures, and i have used these materials to create almost the same textures. Here is material for Whiterun wall "wrcitywall01", image 1 - https://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=8440&PHPSESSID=aksdjofbfv1aqcp5poivli42s2       Riften wall "riftenstonewall01", image 2 - https://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=39648&PHPSESSID=aksdjofbfv1aqcp5poivli42s2 Riften wall "riftenstonewall02", image 1 - https://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=40364&PHPSESSID=aksdjofbfv1aqcp5poivli42s2 Riften stone floor "riftenplazabrick02", image 2 - https://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=31299&PHPSESSID=aksdjofbfv1aqcp5poivli42s2 Windhelm ground "whroughground", image 2 - https://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=38581&PHPSESSID=aksdjofbfv1aqcp5poivli42s2 Solitude stone wall "sstonebase01", image 1 or 3 - https://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=26150&PHPSESSID=aksdjofbfv1aqcp5poivli42s2 These are some examples. Now, SRO was never finished, so some textures were never replaced with better, and some were supposed to be there just temporarily. And i don't make bad textures that can be created in 20 minutes. Here is one latest example. This is my "telstairs01" texture for Dragonborn. It was created with about 80 layers!? Every mushroom is hand placed: Here is final product - beautiful and very detailed texture. You can even see small details on mushrooms: This is why SRO is the best texture pack, and why it takes time to make something good. Btw, i have never asked for money. This has been discussed before. And one more thing; there is no Oak trees in Skyrim, so remove those Oak leaves from "road01fallforest01" and "fallforestdirt01" textures. Put some Aspen leaves, or at least something similar. Â

This is a BIG lie! Here is my last post: It is kinda logical that i should send new updates to those people. They give me their money! I did not ask for the money! Those Nexus moderators are so stupid! After this and after some comments here i'm glad that i have removed SRO. But i'm not surprised. I know people very well! This was handled poorly in all aspects including comments and even including a few of my own comments. For that, I apologize. However, I can see the Nexus side on this. Your comment, "In the future i will send new updates to the people who supported me through donations." Completely translates to, "You paid for my content so only you will get future updates." I can see your logic in do that; however, in doing so you are creating a separation between donators and non-donators. You've established that only past donators will get your mod. This is what is breaking the rules regardless whether you asked for those donations or not and what led to the Nexus ban. As Besidilo said, not everyone (myself included) can afford to donate so we provide support in other ways, such as my supporting STEP by providing wiki content. This type of support benefits everyone; whereas, donations only benefit you. Your mod, SRO, is great and everyone respects it and the work you've put into it. We would love to see future content and updates. However, the one thing you must understand is that other individuals have the right to talk about and recommend (like STEP and TPC does) your mod to other individuals. You don't have to like it or agree with it but those are the rules and it's just one of those things that comes with the modding territory. EDIT: Can you provide a way for future people to support you? I don't mean in donations and money because you haven't asked for that, but to those of us that love your content and wish to still use it but can't afford to pay for it? Or are you not interested in doing so? I'm not creating any separation. People in their heads are doing this. I you for example have interpreted me wrongly, how is this my fault? And you cannot read my mind. And banning without asking for any explanation from my side!? Please! My mod has about 1700 endorsements, Skyrim HD over 12 000! And SHD is only about 30 days older. Does this make sense to you!? And this has nothing to do with money! It's about principles. Maybe you did notice reading my posts that i have very strong principles.

Those Nexus moderators are so stupid! After this and after some comments here i'm glad that i have removed SRO. But i'm not surprised. I know people very well! What about the people who have always supported you by endorsing your work, commenting on it, encouraging you and giving feedback on any developments, promoting it on various forums, including in their Skyrim modding guides, texture compilations or even torrenting it (sharing their bandwidth with other users), because it was that good? Do they not count because they didn't want/couldn't pay you for your free work? Excuse me but SRO is extremely underrated. Extremely! And it is by far the best and biggest texture pack. Did you notice this? So don't talk about support. Ok! And I have give you this for free! Months of the work, over 1000 hours! I did this for myself in the first place. I did not play Skyrim until SRO was finished.   I have said to the people that SRO is deleted. That's what i said. And i'm gonna send new updates to the people who supported me. This is so simple to understand. I did not said; i want your money for updates.  Once more; mod is deleted! I'm gonna make new updates for myself and you know who. I cannot send updates to 200 000 people. Why did i then delete mod in the first place!Â

Some people really don't want to understand this! You can merge mods how you want in one big file, or create a batch that will do the same. The result is the same. This is why i have stated that one cannot use my mod for any kind of modifications without my permission.
-
First this bolded part is not true. Now you should not believe everything that Cestral said. Problem is that he did not asked for permission to use SRO, and i don't like that. Also i have stated from the first day of my mod that one must ask me for permission to use it for any kind of modification. This is in the Nexus "Permissions and Credits" section. These are my rules. Period. Even The Compiler didn't ask for permission, but i have overlooked that. There was also dude who merged my mod with some anime BS. That didn't last long. I don't want to see my mod merged with some nonsense! And Cestral doesn't have any principles! No wonder that the closest people have left him. I just cannot comment this, it is clear that there's a huge misunderstanding in the difference between "pointing to a mod" and "stealing mods assets". If you really think that i needed any permission to write about SRO in STEP, you have no idea of what permission rules are. These are my permissions and rules. And it is my mod. And you do know that SRO is the part of the Cestrals batch file. Now he pissed me off many times so i'm not gonna allow him to have any connection with my mod. I will definitely remove it if he continues.Â

If you use my mod, any kind of optimization is not recommended.

You want me to check all this! Are you serious :) Between my mixed and pure 1024k version is about 85-100mb difference. Btw, i use 2048k for Landscape, except trees. But Landscape can also be mixed, and you can use 1024 res normal maps. Be creative man :) No, that is why I prefaced with "if you care to" (which I suspected you wouldn't). I was just trying to find a way to creatively coax more specifics from you and save myself some time ... it worked :P And I honestly cannot see any perceptible difference between many of your 1k/2k terrain textures (e.g., forest floor around Riverwood) ... but I will play around some more as you suggest when I have some time Actually i didn't know that bedroll textures are in 1.6 update? These are HD DLC textures that i have forget to remove during file transition. I probably will not release any more updates for Skyrim? I knew they were just leftover from HRDLC as I mention in the thread that Farlo linked ... not sure what he is talking about though, because I also noted that the resolution of Better Bedrolls was same as HRDLC (but I think that the author simply sharpened the vanilla HR versions, albeit a bit too much) :? There is a difference, but it depends which texture is in question. 1024 res normal maps can be used with all Landscape. But it's boring to mix this. Thanks.

I operate using only 1 GB VRAM (mirrored via CrossfireX), so I'd like to determine 'stretched' versus 'un-stretched'. Then I want to construct a custom hybrid of SRO and compare only the following + HRDLC over a virgin vanilla installation without any post processing or other 'noise': SRO 1024 fullSRO hybrid full (need details on your recommendations for combining HI & LO - If I construct, I will share with you for upload to your mod)SRO 2048 fullI will likely also experiment with 4096 mountains. It easy to determine. Landscape, Dungeons and Towns are stretched in many places. But with Landscape and Towns you must be careful because they cover huge areas, and this will eat VRAM easily.Dungeons and interiors operate like individual cells, which means when you enter some house or cave only this cell is loaded. In this case you can use even 4096 textures. Clutter is tricky. Many clutter textures are placed outside, and high-res is not a good idea. I can't use all high-res clutter. Also with 1gb of VRAM forget about 4096k mountains. What you need to do is find and save places where textures are stretched or not and determine which res is the best. First install all high-res textures and then throw inside low-res version, Clutter file for example. Then enter the game and load those places with Clutter textures and look. And do not overwrite high-res files with low-res, just rename them like in attachment. Here you see Clutter which is mixed file that i use in game, and ClutterM which is high-res file. After deciding what to use you can delete high-res version file. This is how i do when testing and mixing textures. Also i have to mention that i use only parts of HD DLC; armor, weapons, clothes and some clutter. Armor, weapons and clothes textures are resized to 1024 res. I think there is mod which also did this? You also know which other mods i recommend and use, and this is included in my combination except Vurts textures. They look great but i can't use them cause game stutter to much. And to be honest those vanilla plants look pretty good. They are not stretched. Many SRO textures look very good even in 1024 resolution because i have made them to be very detailed and clear in 2048 res. So resizing wont make them look worse to much. And mods like this are very helpful: https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26126/ OK, this is a good start. I'll use DDSopt to reduce some of the HRDLC textures as you advised and then go through this exercise using SRO HI/LO to see what has the biggest effect. The mod you mention is a MUST for STEP I think (will post a thread). SMIM USP do not do this? Thanks @Starac I blended your v1.6 1k/2k textures, and the result is great so far. I simply replaced the following 2k texture folders (I did not go through each texture folder. I only replaced directories where I assume most textures occur in high density/frequency outdoors. I retained 2k trees, roads and dungeons as well as all architecture directories not named after towns or that are not part of Skyrim exteriors (e.g., highhrothgar, skyhaventemple, falmer hut). Following is a complete list of 2k textures that I overwrote with 1k. So far, my frame rates and VRAM consumption are only either same or slightly higher than with pure 1k (if you care to, please let me know if I missed anything obvious or if I unnecessarily included anything): You want me to check all this! Maybe? But i doubt it? On this page is also SRO thread. It has the name of the author, it is full of my posts and it's the largest thread. Impossible to miss it. And the way how he describes textures, including mine, is something i hear first time. It makes no sense. Btw, Skyrim is photo-realistic game, not Torchlight or Dishonored. Even vanilla textures would look more gritty if they were not to much resized and stretched. -

Actually i understood him completely. My english is not that bad. Yes tolerance is the key and very often i say this to people. But be careful what you talk especially on forums. Also i understand your position. I'm moderator on a big IT forum for 8 years. And human ego is big problem.    -
Good idea. But i still prefer 7,000 steps :)

Ok. Fair enough. Lets see. I can improve it, but i'm not gonna do this. Btw, we all know how snow footsteps should look, and it's nothing like this. This looks like it is painted.

Here you say how you aren't familiar with any of my work. But earlier in post 19. you said this:Â Â Does this makes sense to you? Yep, got it. Got it what? You didn't try my mod but you criticize it? And then you expect people to take you seriously? I don't take you seriously. -
Come on! 7,000 steps sounds more cool :)

I'm trying to understand this part? Ruins clutter textures should look more worn, older. In fact this is true for almost all architecture and clutter textures in this game. And mu goal as always was to make them similar to vanilla. Many textures in this mod are great, except urn and pot which look pretty bad. But they should be less clean and more worn out. Maybe obsolete is better expression? Gritty and busy are textures that, simply put, just use to many dark colors for detail shading. I am reluctant to provide examples because they tend not to be well received. I wrote a thread on it here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/833498-an-appeal-to-texture-artists/page__p__6681979__fromsearch__1&do=findComment&comment=6681979 My personal appeal against busy textures. Its a problem that has always existed in textures sense morrowind, and I think (without trying to sound ungrateful or condescending)  it just a product of hobbyist texture art. I know what gritty textures are, but i don't understand why you have problems with this. Look around yourself and you will notice that nature is gritty and detailed. And Skyrim is very realistic game when we talk about graphics, more then any other TES. And maybe you didn't notice but almost all my textures have very similar colors to vanilla. Not to gritty but not to washed out, because i like to copy nature. Also i make very detailed textures because resized to 1024 res they must also look great. And we have texture stretching problem which can be decreased with details. Maybe you use wrong lighting mod? -
