[WIP] Boston Atomic Bomb Yankee - BABY (Fallout 4)
Kesta replied to Kesta's topic in Unofficial Fallout 4 Guides
Some (a lot actually) people are :P But yeah, overall don't expect ultra-huge overhauls to the settlement system to come in BABY. However I don't see much mods conflicting with a settlement overhaul of the kind you'd like, so you could probably just add it atop of the guide. Yeah. I am using MO as well actually, but won't update the guide before a few workarounds that would have to be explained in detail have their root issue fixed (typically INI files-related stuffs). If you know what you're dealing with, you're good to go (might encounter a few issues with ReShade, I think someone mentioned it. I personally switched to ENB-only post-processors as discussed a few pages ago). -

I'm rather on paul666root side for this, in-depth settler management is definitely not something I'm interested into. Breaking happiness into "need" vs "entertainment" would be a huge improvement (having a clinic and a jukebox serving the same purpose bother me as well), but going further would be overkill. The settlement system is intrusive enough as it is in my opinion. Aside from brand new exclusive elements that offer seamless integration of new gameplay (beast taming based on WW's cages for instance, or even something as simple as Expired's looksmirror), The settlement overhaul I'd be interested in would be more about radiant quests (less buggy and more interesting attacks, things to do on the outside to bring back good stuffs for your settlement, ...), and proper "jobs" (random guy suddenly becoming medics... nope :/ ). -
I'm still able to edit my posts. Do I get a special treatment because I'm so bad at English that I always need to edit my posts for typos ? :P At any rate, I think this was a bad decision, though I'll wait for a proper official thread to debate this.

Took a whole year, but look like it's here :P I was like "wait, something is missing on this topic's look & feel..." and then I noticed, no more red-button ! Or has it been changed for a while and I completely missed the change until now ?

Once changes to the .esp have been figured out, we could even get an xEdit script to take care of that the same way as we clean mods actually. I think Beth can not see the problem, because they only think with Bethesda.net in mind, and mods will need to be loaded in the CK before being uploaded there anyway.

Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - DynDOLOD 2.00 to 2.15
Kesta replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
I just tried the new standalone. The more time I spend with the holy cow, the more happy I am. Just LOOK AT MY SMILE : -
While I'm 100% confident this won't be Skyrim - if this is a TES (and we're not even sure about that, the only thing actually confirmed being a "remaster of sort"), Morrowind or Oblivion would make MUCH more sense for marketing - the announcement is in 4 hours :) Beth's twitch for the livestream : https://www.twitch.tv/bethesda Or e3's toutube livestream : https://gaming.youtube.com/e3 Edit: Wait, could it be 4, 5, or 6 hours left ? I'm sooo bad with timezones... I was sure it was at 3:15am at my local time :/

Yep, I'm slowly sinking into a "baah, let's wait the next batch of good mod & utilities before updating" mentality. Good thing or bad thing, time will tell :P Which conversation ? And yeah, billy the squid... what did you expect ? xD Btw, in case some of the people here missed it and are interested, I made one mod to get around the redundant lockpicking mini-game here. Just noticed I didn't make any self-promotion here :P -

Kesta replied to Kesta's topic in Unofficial Fallout 4 Guides
Yes.I just stopped updating the "under testing page" because I got lazy :P (and because I currently spend more time actually making mods than playing/testing and updating the guide ^^) The fish are going to make it, they're huge improvements. Creatures, probably not, most (if not all) of them are "too clean". Maybe some insects and the brahmins, but that's about it. -
NVInteriors file hidden until further notice
Kesta replied to randombaggins's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Chucksteel is on strike because of the Bethesda.net BS on Fallout4, and just started a small boycott movement on the author's community. He's taking the "other" approach than Darren (i.e. he is keeping his head cool, just a regular strike). His mods will be back whenever the situation improve (or he get tired of it): Just to clear any potential confusion, the update he's talking about is most likely for FO4, not FNV (but who knows..? :P) -

Ah yes, should have mention I was talking about the FOMOD, not the actual installer (completely forgot it ever existed). Thanks for the clarification. -

Kesta replied to Kesta's topic in Unofficial Fallout 4 Guides
It have an installer, just pick the option you like (doesn't matter much since you can change it afterward), then copy paste the content of the mod's folder into the fo4 installation folder. The truth is that I actually reached the limit of what my computer can handle, I'm already playing with reduced shadow distance , shadow boost is almost useless for me since I seldom ever reach 45 fps. Olympus look awesome, but took me from that 35-40 to a small 20... And I don't really see my self advising an ENB I can't use for anything else than screenshots. I guess that's not that bad considering I'm playing on a 4 years old laptop, but I really need to upgrade ^^ I should get enough money for a top-notch rig by the end of July. Still have to decide if I'll try those fancy 1080 or just get a 980. Gameplay: Probably nothing major before long. I'm probably going to add a few enhancements, but overhauls are what they are, alternatives. The fact that they're "100 times better than vanilla" is essentially because they bring fresh air, not because they're actually that good. Settlement: Yes, see the "under testing" page. I was actually waiting for darren's all in one before starting to publish this section, but due to this last weekend events, it might never come out... :s -

Kesta replied to Kesta's topic in Unofficial Fallout 4 Guides
PA isn't an "high level item" in FO4, instead it's an alternative way to play. If you ever use it, I highly recommend you use the new survival mode, the reduced carry weight with fusion cores weighting 4 really help balance the whole thing. But I have to admit that this really do make the game easier because of the lack of actual downside. Waiting for some bright ideas from modders to take care of that :P As far as the visuals goes... if the quality isn't good enough for you, you'll probably have to wait a bit more (though adding the work from Sparrow, Hein and Langley, along with some post-proc really help). If the atmosphere is the problem, you could consider switching to something like Resurrection that give a brand new feel to the game. -
[WIP] Boston Atomic Bomb Yankee - BABY (Fallout 4)
Kesta replied to Kesta's topic in Unofficial Fallout 4 Guides
Mea Culpa, not sure if I tested an older version (I don't think so, I think there is only one that have ever been uploaded), but after double-checking, it is actually covering all of the accessible cells. Not sure why it wasn't noticeable first, I tested the very same areas... could have been the ReShade back then, but I'm pretty sure I had it disabled. Still not a huge fan of the "darkening" part of the mod (kinda kill the local colors), and it doesn't help with the unrealistic interior skylighting as Fr4nsson's do, so I'll stick with a no unless that's updated to something objectively more in-depth than vanilla (for now it's essentially an alternative). However, after 3 dungeons with this + Fr4nsson installed, they're compatible, if you like very dark interiors where you absolutely need your light turned on, and don't want to mess with ENB settings, that's definitely the way to go. -
FALLOUT4 Fallout 4 Default Values for All Valid INI Settings
Kesta replied to DoubleYou's topic in INI Tweaking
I've seen hundreds of tweakers wannabee modifying every entry they could find that had "thread" in their name, persuaded that Bethesda had willingly put under-optimized default settings for thread management on every single one :P Have you started wiki pages for Fallout4.ini settings ? There isn't one referenced in the INI guide section yet. (even if it's just a non-documented list of settings, there is a few of them I can start documenting, especially menu/interface sections). -
[WIP] Boston Atomic Bomb Yankee - BABY (Fallout 4)
Kesta replied to Kesta's topic in Unofficial Fallout 4 Guides
Well, then the problem is clear ^^ Need to refer to Tannin. But that's really weird that Beta1 handle everything properly but not Beta2. Out of curiosity : Did you repack optimized textures as a .ba2 ? If that's just the number/weight of textures, try with just disabling Optimized Textures and FAR (it include a very big lot of them), that should really help. -
Disabling gameplay-mouse when ENB panel open
Kesta replied to Kesta's question in Post-Processing Support
FO4 version have been provided per request. Works similar but doesn't require F4SE as FO4 have a built-in hotkey system. However to disable the camera movement, instead of holding a key you need to toggle it on/off by pressing a key combination (default Shift+Backspace). The configuration is done in Hotkeys.ini rather than editing the plugin (this hotkey system really is a cool thing). However you'll have to check for compatibility with other mods providing their own hotkeys.ini if using any. Check the included readme for additional infos. Direct download (modpage) -
[WIP] Boston Atomic Bomb Yankee - BABY (Fallout 4)
Kesta replied to Kesta's topic in Unofficial Fallout 4 Guides
Running Beta2, No infinite load screen to report for now (roughly 20h of gameplay I think). However the load time are indeed increased, at least at game startup. I take it you already tried to disable ton of stuffs to see if the problem disappeared ? Also, you have any external stuffs ? I dropped ReShade and installed all F4SE plugin directly into Data just for "safety" since I read there was a few issues back in beta1 and was too lazy to make crashtests by myself. But that was supposed to be a cause of CTD, not ILS. -
[WIP] Boston Atomic Bomb Yankee - BABY (Fallout 4)
Kesta replied to Kesta's topic in Unofficial Fallout 4 Guides
Good news, MO2 is OK :) Still a few quirks, but it can now be used for regular modding :) Don't forget to have a look at the Fallout4Prefs.ini guide DY started, it's already almost complete, and when used in conjunctions with InsanePlumber's INI settings info, you should already draw near to a definitive INI setup. But back to business, main reason for the post: There is a lot of issues with ReShade, so i'm browsing for new ENBs and visual setups. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to switch from Darker Nights to True Nights (will depend on the ENB of choice), nor if Enhanced Color Correction is gonna make it (same reason). Input/feedback welcome from anyone who'd use Olympus ENB. Haven't tested yet, probably going to use it this week, but this look really promising (and the author seem to be a cool dude).
