SKSE with older Skyrim versions
torminater replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
OK, so testing is running right now. It may be that SKSE checks the savegames and if there is a savegame from a NEWER patch than supported but the game version is older than the patch it errors: please update Skyrim to the newest version. So I deleted all new savegames and am checking it out as soon as skyrim files are copied. -
DROPPED The Skyrim Distance Overhaul (by Grieche)
torminater replied to MadWizard25's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
those tweaks are pretty much already included in my z-fighting tweaks. I guess some performance issues could be caused by mods like this in combination with those tweaks... i'll probably have to include this in my z-fighting-guide... -

SKSE with older Skyrim versions
torminater replied to torminater's question in General Skyrim LE Support
sry, i have to tell you, that i did used an old skse but it told me to update to the latest SKYRIM PATCH and not to update skse or sth like that and that archived build was from... the 4th of may. AND their archived builds all rely on papyrus scripting now. if you get what I'm saying: the archived builds are not the same as they were as they were the up to date builds... edit; sry, forget that only the 1.5 builds are with papyrus scripting... I'm going to try 1.5.5 out again asap. -
hey guys! i found out that somehow skse doesn't work anymore with older patches (they just don't want to support them I guess and block them totally...) if you've upgraded to a newer patch. Any other/further information? I just replaced the skyrim folder with my 1.5.26 backup and couldn't find any method how to get skse (older versions of it of course) to work again... weeeeeird isn't it?

well, it is in the making (at least with some of TESEdits features). if you know somebody with the skills and passion for the greater good tell him to contact those guys to ask whether they need any help with something particular.

doesn't sound very promising though...

kinda funny. just passed my exam on greek and latin terminology in medicine today and now all of this surfaces from the depths of some subforum xD

I like trying out new stuff. always back to the old games if my pals are here for a lan-party though! no brandnew hotshot game can top that!

Help - Exterior World Space Freezes and CTDs
torminater replied to MadWizard25's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I've experienced the same thing on occasion. In some cases, I would have saves that would either not load at all (had to kill TESV.exe after 10 minutes), or would take a very long time. But, if I were to load my saved game just before character creation, then turn around and load the problematic save, it loaded just fine without any wait time. In the above scenario, the process to load the problematic save by loading a clean one first worked 100% of the time. Still have no idea why. Perhaps a form of savegame bloat? scripts not being run correctly/interrupted by saving and killing the process? scripts from old save still running although you're loading the new savegame? try to look at your papyrus protocolls! -

Well 4 gb are recommended for win7 64Bit to Run smoothly. Skyrim can/could use 4 gb RAM Too. So to ensure that everything can work As free As possible 8gb RAM are needed. Generally speaking it is always better Running more than the required specs. Of course there are uncountable different opinions. Just speaking of my Own experiences. -

you need at least 8 gb of ram for win 7 64 bit. do the testing every single time after installing a mod (by load order or whatever.) that saves time and trial-error-failures. -

did you do a clean save first? -
You would need to edit the records for all of the trees with the creation kit as far as I know. I'm no expert though on that matter, sry. The ini-settings usually don't effect the game as much as they promise, since they get capped by other ini-settings which really kill your performance. For example: To reduce textures popping in or too be more precise, to increase the distance at which textures are popping in you can increase your ugrids with instant effect. The higher the ugrids-value the more cells are getting fully loaded ergo the more trees you see on your screen in further distance in higher detail. you could try ugrids 7 with reduced textures etc. might be worth trying before spending money. However, SSD and RAM is not too expensive atm, so you might as well upgrade to them.

Getting some lag spikes with STEP
torminater replied to Tardivex's question in General Skyrim LE Support
might've been a mod causing this via scripting. it could be hardware related, like you have already concluded. Just try to keep your rig as clean and safe as possible! try out the mod on this website: here -

torminater replied to MadWizard25's question in General Skyrim LE Support
took me about 15 minutes to write it up (did it myself too often...). of course there is the SIG but the problem is, that many people don't have a clean vanilla setup as backup in the first place. They come to this forum after a long way of modding their game without having heard anything about clean saves etc.I myself have a really bad internet connection which makes validating any files by steam really really really annoying (internet mostly dies before it ran the validation). It's fairly easy to manually delete only those files that don't have anything to do with skyrim vanilla and then run a validation as check, whether or not some original files have been lost. -
Well, it might be possible to give trees a full-LOD-status, so they're shown regardless how far away they are. I am not quite sure how demanding this will be for your rig since you already seem to have performance problems. If you're running through skyrim and enter a new "area" like 30-60 "meters" away from your current position the new "area" will get fully rendered and the old area gets deleted, so that you have full texture quality for some distance in the way you look in and your computer doesn't have to handle all of the old textures anymore. If you see trees popping in and then changing their textures this is exactly this phenomenon. However, if this causes lags/stuttering for you and you have a decent rig, I'm pretty sure, that your VRAM is overflowing. This causes textures which need to be processed by your cpu and gpu get put on your RAM which is incredibly slower than the vram of your graphics card. To fix this, you have 3 possibilities: - overhaul your rig to most modern high-tech-standards (windows 7 64 bit, SSD for windows, SSD for games, 16 GB RAM, some high-end-cpu overclockable, high-end-gpu with as much vram as possible, separate sound card and mb, power supply and whatever else you might think of) - optimize skyrim for your rig (performance over quality everywhere possible!) 1. start off from a clean vanilla install and install whatever scripting tools your currently using. 2. keep adding more and more of your favorite texture mods and test them thouroughly before adding the next one. Try to stick to med res or low res versions and use "Texture Optimizer" or DDSopt on them 3. tweak view distances and everything for your best skyrim experience

Getting some lag spikes with STEP
torminater replied to Tardivex's question in General Skyrim LE Support
That will not work because if you download Skyrim it will automatically install 1.6 If you have a CD you can install Skyrim 1.1 but that version is so freaking bugged and not at all supported by the STEP mods anymore. -

ok, I think I know something which might help you.!!!!Backup your skyrim folder a) disable at least burnified effects/burnfreezeshock effects and any other mod that makes changes to destruction magic, delete your inis and let them be created new by Skyrim Launcher. Long Load times opening your inventory usually come from scripting errors which result in adding like 10000000000000000000 feathers to your inventory which makes it impossible for your rig to open your inventory in a decent time. This usually is only a problem with XBox, but you never know. b) use a complete vanilla install. when I say complete, I mean complete. This includes:
