pack A Real Explorer's Guide to Skyrim
Kuldebar replied to CJ2311's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
Pretty sure it conflicts with ETaC. Ebonvale is a nice mod, I have used it before in my pre-ETaC days but it sits rather close to Riverwood and that doesn't seem right to me. I much prefer Aurora Village by Scarla because it adds a very lore friendly village to a location that really needs it. Honestly, I suspect with REGs you won't miss Ebonvale. -
SOLVED: Unofficial Skyrim Patches breaking Vampire Body/Face Textures
Kuldebar replied to Kuldebar's question in General Skyrim LE Support
It's illustrated above, but here: Like I said, the tint edits weren't causing this issue, as I actually deleted them at one point in the ESP to see if the problem changed...it did not. The particular mesh and textures facegen files in the BSA were the unambiguous, unequivocal cause of the problem with my game. It was not a file conflicted, just bad files. I can bring the problem back any time I want by un-hiding the two files. This can be done in a completely unmodded game with only official updates and unofficial patches installed. -

Ramifications of BSA Extraction in Mod Organizer
Kuldebar replied to z929669's question in Mod Organizer Support
Arthmoor Yes, BOTH UDGP and USkP (via the CK proclivities, sure but still) introduce changes of Tints (same values) ...removing them from their respective ESP didn't fix the problem either...it appears there is FaceGen data in the folders for the patches as well but I didn't know which were relevant until Arthmoor named them for me. When I disabled the Unofficial ESP's for the patches the problem persist because the actual patch files folders were still checked in the left MO pane. -
Looking over the forum discussion concerning Soul Gems Differ - Full and Empty by Utopolyst... Seems like it has some installation issues, etc. One thing I prefer about Soul Gems Glow When Full by KSG is that the record can be very easily edited to make it compatible with REQUIEM and other mods that changes Soul Gem properties.

Ramifications of BSA Extraction in Mod Organizer
Kuldebar replied to z929669's question in Mod Organizer Support
It was 100% reproducible on my system despite multiple deletions and reinstallations and clean game loads USKP versus non-USKP. Sure, it could be: MO-flavored asset prioritization interaction with USkP But that's not a meaningful statement to me because it appears rather straightforward and basic file logic. While the mesh and texture was present in my active load order, I had the glitch; without those two files present, the glitch was gone. If MO caused the problem just by being MO, I'd like to know how; I do know MO allowed me to fix the issue with very little help from anybody else. (Arthmoor at least relayed the file names that impacted the NPC in question) Seriously if there's some hidden behavior in how MO works specifically related to the well documented problem I had, it would be great to know. My whole point is that the two files weren't a recognizable conflict, nothing was being flagged as being overridden. No one should be making an argument solely based on "performance" reasons for not finding BSA's desirable, it's not the crux. The heart of the issue is file management by the user. Archives are NOT conducive to having a full tactical awareness when you need it the most. What's convenient and expedient for Mod Authors and MO Devs is not necessarily good for the users; one needs only to look at closed, proprietary systems to see this point illustrated. -
Doesn't that mod replace meshes and apply glows, etc? It seemed rather complex, albeit more customizable, to me. EDIT: Just read the FAQ for Soul Gems Differ - Full and Empty by Utopolyst: The main big difference between the two mods is complexity/customization. The mod I posted just offers the full/glow and empty/no-glow for Soulgems using whatever texture replacer (if any) you choose to use.

LOL, I'm just level 2 heading to BFB soon! I'm playing a normal game from the beginning but leveling is managed by SPERG and Better Leveling for Sperg Uncapper.ini. No dragon's in sight yet! :) But, as you say, I didn't always get the glitch in every game before...so a test (for me) is to ensure that the fix doesn't break my game, ie. soul absorption, quest stages, etc.

Ramifications of BSA Extraction in Mod Organizer
Kuldebar replied to z929669's question in Mod Organizer Support
The "argument" still has merit, compression adds another layer of work for the CPU to deal with, even if it is a relatively small work load by modern standards. The same principle is involved with the much discussed EnableCompression setting in the ENB config file; the consensus is that compression can cause stuttering/slowdown and performance penalties for some computer systems. -
Ramifications of BSA Extraction in Mod Organizer
Kuldebar replied to z929669's question in Mod Organizer Support
I don't like archives in my mod folders because I want them readily searchable via a simple file name search and laid out in such a way that if I want to hide one file, or replace it even; I can do so. I have had several problems with USKP "fixes" that broke something in my game. If I hadn't known about BSA extraction, I'd never resolved the issue by myself. Curiously, Arthmoor wanted to blame MO's BSA handling for the problem which it was certainly not the case! And here was the fix: Just to be clear: these files weren't overwriting anything, they just were causing a problem from their very existence in my mod order. This issue has persisted through the last two USKP releases, each time I have had to hide those two files or an NPC in Half-Moon Mill gets a bad face lift. Without the USKP Fix: With the USKP "Fix" -
I have tried that in the past, like pre-Sheson Fix past. I think I dispensed with it then and only briefly used it somewhat later. My operating theory is that using such settings on a graphically limited PC will slow texture loads down and ultimately cause more popping. But, I'm going to change my current fTreesMidLODSwitchDist=5000.0000 to 14000.0000 and see how it goes.

Soul Gems Glow When Full by KSG Oldie but goodie, tried and true, elegant solution to visually being able to tell if a soul gem is empty or full. Works with any texture replacer just as long as the meshes are not changed. Also works perfectly with Smart Souls and Acquisitive Soul Gems. I use it with HD Soul Gems by Flicke.

The mod author is offering it up for consideration to the USKP team: Unless it blows up, I think it's a safe bet.

SKYRIMLE Death Alternative - Your Money or Your Life by BralorMarr
Kuldebar replied to rootsrat's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
From what I'm reading it looks like all the script activity occurs at the time of non-death, a new "quest stage" is initiated and things proceed on from there. I'll be including this in my new game...I'll report back. MAIN FEATURES (as of v4.0): -

A lot more work has happened with this mod, looks to be shaping up with a lot of additions and fixes from the earlier versions. -
Nothing I have run into, it certainly won't impact brawling because that's an entirely different game process. Also, you can still kill yielded enemies if you need to do so for a quest, etc. The author reassures us: As an additional safety net, the author also states that the mod will uninstall cleanly:

Dragon Stalking Fix by sevencardz I'm going to use this in my next play-through, hopefully just an hour or so away. :)

Are you using Mod Organizer?
-
Do you use Mod Organizer? And BOSS and WryeBash don't care much for mesh/textures only ESP/ESM, etc. If I had to guess, assuming it's not your GPU VRAM failing, I'd say you overwrote something that can no longer be referenced. Howto: Identify Missing Textures
-
That's not ice...ugly or not, you are either missing a texture or have a mesh with either a bad sense of direction in finding the path to its texture or just a bad mesh. Lastly: Black or purple "textures" can also mean your GPU is struggling to load the appropriate textures.

The crazy prisoner cart/Helgen Inro issues has a rather extensive list of potential causes that I will very vaguely sum up below: Heavy mod script initialization Solution: reduce number of such mods by disabling prior to game start or use an alternate start mod that allows mods to initialize prior to Helgen Intro or bypass the Intro altogether. VSYNC Disabled or FPS is higher than 60 frames Solution: enable VSYNC in your ENB/GPU Panel and/or ensure that iPresentInterval in the SkyrimPrefs.ini is at the default setting: iPresentInterval=1 (use the ENB FPS limiter if FPS is higher than 60) Mod specific causes Solution: follow specific mod instructions. Example: "If you are starting a new character it is HIGHLY recommended that you leave Helgen Reborn UNCHECKED until you exit the cave with Hadvar/Ralof. Make a NEW hard save right there and load my plugin. It's fine if it is installed, just uncheck it in your plugin list until you exit the cave. A mix of the above factors The Intro Scene is a period of heavy Papyrus activity, any modifications that heap more into that task load will often destabilize things.

My textures seem to be only optimal resolution close to my character.
Kuldebar replied to Halde's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Well, I know what you are saying but I think you are using the wrong term. The textures are definitely being rendered but they might be loading in at very low quality perhaps. Also, sometimes installation issues with parallax texture mods can screw up how things look if the overrides are wrong, etc. PPR has info on that, but the point is, textures can appears smeared when parallax is incorrectly applied due to file ordering. -

I'm liking the slower leveling, now the uncapper for Better Leveling that I'm using does reward bonus perk points but not every time though: for example, at Level 2 I received 3 perk points, at Level 3 I only got one. And like I said the leveling rate is really slowed down, which honestly feels right to me. Better Leveling - Vanilla - SkyRe - SPERG - Skyrim Unleashed - Elys Community Uncapper by aselnor I use a couple of SkyRe modules: SkyRe_Combat.esp and SkyRe_EnemyAI.esp along with Deadly Dragons and play the game at Adept, haven't done Expert yet. Additionally, I use the whole skill overhaul: TTRSO - TheThirdRace Skill Overhaul - Modular by TheThirdRace I top this off with Natural Talents v2 - Racial Bonuses Overhaul by DistinctlyMinty and Thats Racist by Kevin Kidder. Basically, my point in listing these is to indicate the over all mod regimen I use regarding character progression and development. I want choices to matter and there to be some pain for poor judgment. TTRSO balances out such things and really allows a player to "grow-up" in their desired roles but they have to work at it. Here's a snippet from an initial test run with TTRSO: -

Listen to Aiyen, s/he knows a quite bit about these visual things. :) The screen shot needs to be of good enough quality so one can tell if the details are there or not: In this picture, note the water details and the rock across the way as well as the rocks in the forefront. Yes, details do start fading as you go farther out. -

CJ2311: Love what you fixed and incorporated in Nernie's Mod, by any chance have you taken a peek at the inside of the small mead house outside Whiterun? Oddvar cheated my Imperial out of a night's room rental. After a rain soaked, cloud darkened evening trudging back from the tundra, my Imperial saw the chance to warm up and stay the night at Oddvar's establishment. It was about 7:30 in the evening and I was greeted kindly enough when I purchased food and paid for a night's stay. After spending a few minutes warming up by the fire, Oddvar yelled at me to leave! The old goat said I wasn't welcome there! Me and my companion had to go back out in the rain and walk to Whiterun for alternative lodging.
