  1. Done. I don't know how to delete the BCFs. Someone else that knows how to do that will have to complete it.
  2. You shouldn't have any performance loss with RLO v4. It only makes edits to the game engine; thus, the edits are purely from the CK and should have no performance impact. I'm really looking forward to the completion of RLO; however, I fear that it's quite a ways off if current develop on it remains the same.
  3. It's been longer than I wanted it to be, but just giving an update. I've stated my collection of video captures for this comparison. I'll be gathering shots from a purely vanilla installation with vanilla waters, WATER, Pure Waters and Realistic Waters 2. Thus far I have 26 locations saved to gather the compares from a variety of water situations. Not all will make it into the compare video. All installs are default with at least 1024x resolutions. This is going to take a while! PS: WATER is using the new softer waves to better match the other two mods.
  4. I updated the note for this mod stating that STEP does not recommend either of the optional files at this time (Pelts or Clean version).
  5. EBT has already been well discussed in its own thread and; thus, has been dropped from Core. Might possibly be dropped entirely.
  6. I just linked to the new images the author uploaded on Nexus for the new release. Since this is high up in the Conflicting Graphics section, a good portion of this mod is overwritten (64 files and mainly by SRO) and since it's not a Core mod it's not that big a deal. Eggs sacks will be overwritten by ISW in Extended. I did notice that 4 meshes from USKP are being overwritten so helpfully those changes are as good as the USKP's.
  7. You'll have to use the Detailed Instructions box.
  8. An update! Wow!...it's been forever since author updated!
  9. Any scripted mod as the ability to cause freezes. Just uninstall one of your suspects and play the game for a while. If the freezes continue, it wasn't that mod. If the freezes stop, then that mod had a least something to do with it.
  10. The mod pages with those symbols is the result of some back-end changes (adding some flags after the pages were created). Simply edit and save the pages for the symbols to go away. (you don't actually have to change anything. Just edit and save without any changes.)
  11. Vanilla is much more accurate. I would not recommend the new textures. The deer hide is WAY off. Deer aren't fluffy at all.
  12. No freezes on my setup.
  13. The only problem is that we can't properly analyze these mods yet. Neither are complete. RLO's next release should include a finished weathers module which is being likened to an ENB without the performance hit. Future plans include finished dungeons, revamped cities and towns, and Dragonborn DLC. Problem is, development is extremely slow right now with only one active author. I don't know anything about ELFX's releases. I only know from the 100+ screenshots I've viewed over time that it's more cinematic than realistic and not my forte.
  14. I seem to be noticing a theme. Most whom use ELFX also use ENB. In truth, you can't really discuss "this is better because ENB fixes the issues" when thinking in term of STEP unless the pack itself will also include a specific ENB. If you're just comparing the lighting mods as standalone, then ENB has no standing in the compare. Not everyone uses ENBs. Personally, I don't use them so I would never compare any lighting mod based on what an ENB could or couldn't fix in the mod. If I'm going to use a lighting mod, then it would be standalone and this is also what STEP would do as well. ENBs are far too numerous to compare and too based on personal tastes for STEP to really recommend a single best option (or even a small group). In any case, it's been decided that all lighting mods that are good candidates are not mature enough to be considered and compared for any official STEP inclusion. If anyone wishes to author a pack; however, feel free to do so.
  15. I've always have been and continue to be a fan of RLO. Of course this is from my seeking of realism in the game. ELFX has too many unnatural lighting situations (not saying that RLO is perfect; however, it's more realistic in my opinion).
  16. I'd like to get some new compares for it, seeing that Roots compares are no longer available.
  17. I'm with the rest of the admin on this one and vote for HQ Paper for all cases. The scrolls are an obvious choice from what I can see. Books are good in both Realistic Paper and HQ Paper. I like the addition of the imprint in the wax seal on the notes; a detail I've always noticed to be missing in vanilla. The ledger is such an improvement that any small changes is acceptable in my book. No one is going to be standing around and looking at it in detail while gaming anyhow. The maps is HQ Paper all the way for me. It's a HQ retext of the vanilla. HQ Skyrim Map is not. In fact, I dare say that HQ Paper is close enough to vanilla in all cases that it could be considered for Core.
  18. Updated the OP with compares from each of the files. Opening up a poll. Lets get this one wrapped up!
  19. I've always had this issue; however, mainly with Dawnguard. Vamp shows up in town, all the guards attack, I lend a helping hand, accidentally hit a guard that steps in front of me mid swing, Vamp is dead and I'm public enemy because of the guard I hit during the attack. WTF? I've gotten to the point that I just ignore the damn Vamps and let the guards have their fun.
  20. Worth a look, but we have so many mods in testing right now that the MTs need to get those out of the way before more are added.
  21. In the compare the texture for the woodfire is woodfires01.dds located in \textures\clutter\woodfires. In Core this is provide by HRDLC2. In Extended, this is provided by Skyrim HD.
  22. We've not really ever considered these type of mods because they go beyond fixes by changing the mechanics of the system they alter, in this case the magical perks and levels. These are good for personal use, but probably go beyond the STEP mandates. I have personally used SkyRealism - Balanced Perk Trees ( https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=1291 ) in the past which does some similar things.
