  1. n0mad23 - try Elite: Dangerous, it's already released and fully playable with seamless planetary landings module coming out later this year. It's still in development (10 years project), but it's perfectly playable game already with plenty of things to do.

  3. Especially the ones that paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for imaginary ships... I still wish SC all the best, the more space sims out there the better, but at the same time I can't help being a bit sarky about the whole thing due to the hype that's been built around the project and how many people fell for it.
  4. Here's a great and reasonable article by Kotaku from yesterday. I hate to say, but they're right. As much as I want to see this game released, it's such a massive feature creep that by the time it's released my grandchildren may be able to play it. Also the fact that after 2 years of development all they have to show for is a clunky and boring Hangar module, invisible walls and bugged dogfight arena and a racing module... Something isn't right here. https://kotaku.com/why-star-citizen-is-taking-so-long-1724835913
  5. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/68553/? This certainly looks interesting! The mod adds minigames: card games, board games, lottery etc. which you can play in any inn (including the ones from other mods). A few conditions must be met: * Both you and your opponent must have at least ten (10) gold coins. * You are in a tavern. Works with any tavern from other mods (Falskaar, etc.). Also works in the Ragged Flagon. * Your opponent is not a child. I chose to disable it because gambling with a child doesn't make much sense. * Your opponent is not a beggar. The games available at this point are: LotteriesThe Battle of HeroesDice JackProphet's DiceThe Daedra Challenge Sounds awesome!
  6. Discussion thread: RUSTIC MONUMENTS and TOMBSTONES by SparrowPrince and Gamwich Wiki Link This doesn't need much of an introduction I think :) It's "a retexture of the Windhelm monument wall, and king's stones, including an improved collision mesh. There are both SMIM and ELFX versions of the mesh available, and the textures are available in 2K and 1K sizes. FOMOD installer allows you to choose the appropriate items for your particular setup."

  8. There is one for me in GOG: Patch 1.08.2 (17.08.2015) Introduces a retro-active fix to some of the achievements that were amended in the patch 1.08.Adds sources for scripts (mod support). 1.08.1 was ModKit release patch

  10. The modders are going crazy, there are plenty new mods to choose from. 11. I played the Arena Commander and the Hangar modules - like I said, I own these two. I know there is also a race module available, but I have no access to it, so I can't comment here. But there is certainly no economic simulation in SC. All you can do is dogfight in the AC or race - or hang around the hangar ;) I'm guessing you can make money in races. That's all the economy that SC has for now plus the real life ship transactions on the website and grey market of those on eBay ;) The hangar module has very clumsy animations and there isn't much to do. Being inside your ship is awesome, I like how they've designed the interior, but I'm not a big fan of ship design in general (how they look from outside) if I'm honest. The dogfighting module is good fun, but it feels more arcade than simulation to me (maybe because I didn't really played that much and I'm probably not aware of many advanced functions. Plus I'm simply used to a different flight model). I like the graphics - it's great, the sounds are OK (ED has placed the bar very near the top in the audio department), but what's released so far is definitely not enough for me to make an opinion about Star Citizen as a game, because to me it's not a game. It's an alpha build of couple of the most basic modules - flight model and FPP model. Saying that this is the best space sim out there or saying that it has a realistic simulation of economy is simply projecting the design and game concept through the hype that is all around it. I'm sorry, but that's my opinion. The stuff they've shown at Gamescom is great and I'm looking forward to trying it out, but I'm looking at what's really out there and not what's planned and promised and make my judgement and opinion based on that.
  12. Well, the whole "SC the best space sim ever" is the product of the hype and PR (their marketing team deserves gold medals, truly!). I don't see ED and SC as a competition - I see them as 2 games with different aims and goals that can be both masterpieces in their own right. ED for more realistic and sim stuff and SC for more action based fun. But we'll see when (if! ;) ) it comes out. I'm definitely looking forward to it. I'd also encourage you to check ED mate, it's a great game.
  13. I don't know much about EVE, but I wouldn't say SC has most potential (not enough info, hard to claim things like that by alpha). I'd say that all ED and SC are just different games with different goals. Elite is more of a sim with scientific and very detailed simulation of Milky Way with real world data and 400 billion star systems, focusing on a pilot doing his own thing in a ship at the most basic level, but also allowing for political and social role playing (with player groups becoming factions and Powers in game) and a developing multi-layered story in game. Star Citizen seems to be - or is designed to be - a more arcade'y (casual?) space game with a fantasy hand crafted universe of 100 systems. Not much can be said I think until we'll see more fleshed out product. Not much is known about it and I think by saying "in a few years will almost certainly be the best experience" you're just a victim of the SC hype ;) Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to SC, but I'm also trying to be realistic.
  14. Did any of you actually tried Elite Dangerous? Just curious how many. I know that lots of people here live in the US and that Elite series may be not very well known over there.

  16. In Elite you travel faster than light with Frame Shift Drive - it bends time and space around the ship, kind of shrinking it around you, at least that's the lore. As for AI - any advanced AI is forbidden in Elite universe due to some tragic accidents in the past where AI got out of control. Since then it was banned and is illegal in the game. Hence all the ships have human crew :)
  17. Yeah, it's just implemented in a weird way that doesn't feel right. Elite has semi-Newtonian model (there is a speed cap, as otherwise the space fights would be just boring), but it feel much more natural and fluid than SC.
  18. I don't like the flight model, but maybe because I'm so used to Elite... Nevertheless, that's still only invisible walls arena battles :) Not really a game... Elite has PvP arena mode called Close Quarter Combat being released in September this year - an actual game *cough cough*
  19. Big news today guys! The Modkit is released! Bear in mind it's not the full RedKit 2 editor, but it just gives access to game files etc. More detail in this interview. And some links below. Getting started / FAQ Official sample mods for practise Nexus upload I'll be definitely be checking this out and I'm expecting the changes to the guide happening pretty soon, when people will start using this tool. Happy days!
  20. Space Citizen is not a game. It's a pre-alpha feature creep demo. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to it (I have a ship, the cheapest one that gives me the access to the full game), but at this rate we won't see it until I'll be too old to play it and my grandchildren will have to tell me where the hell I'm flying ;) Elite Dangerous on the other is a game that you can play NOW. It has a real Milky Way galaxy procedurally generated (using amazing an in house developed software) based on scientific data from NASA and ESA (plus handcrafted stuff that we know of) and according to the current knowledge of how our galaxy was created. A mere 400 000 000 000 systems to explore... And there's also "Horizons" expansion Season (a full year of expansions) to be released in December with the lead feature of seamless (!) planetary landings on atmosphere-less bodies with a buggy that you can drive.
  21. Hi, just FYI since I'e moved to Windows 10 and reformatted and rearranged all my drives and storage I'll be installing Skyrim anew using STEP 2.2.9.1 and I'll be able to help with some 2.2.9.2 mod testing if need be. I'll let you know when I'm done, I still have some stuff to sort out in my OS before I'll start installing mods, but it will be soon.

  23. I'm actually in the process of preparing my PC for a fresh install of Win10 (making backups, cleaning the drives, rearranging my storage etc.). The work on the guide will be on hold until I sort everything out, set up the new system, do some testing, reinstall all my software etc... It may be a few weeks, depending on how much free time I get to do all that.
  24. Possibly so. I was thinking of trying out various AA options from the Inpector for example. I just don't have much time to play around with this lately. I'll get to it eventually :)
  25. The big surprise for me was the size of game world in the earlier parts. I had no idea!
