exception message : File not found: textures\default_n.dds.
sheson replied to psycholata's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
textures\default_n.dds is in the vanilla BSA "Skyrim - Textures.bsa" Read ALL messages after the error. If problem persists post error report with entire contents (not just the last couple lines) of ..\DynDOLOD\bugreport.txt (if it exists) and ..DynDOLOD\Logs\DynDOLOD_[GAMEMODE]_log.txt -
Can not find DynDOLOD Resources SE Core Files
sheson replied to jcamp's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
As explained in the manual (and most likely in all the posts you found here and elsewhere) add the -sse command line parameter to start the tools in Skyrim Special Edition mode. While the included manual is mod manager agnostic it also includes instructions how to do that with Mod Organizer. See DynDOLOD-Shortcut.txt for help. Once it starts in the correct mode it does a simple check if some key files from correct DynDOLOD Resources Core Files exist in the load order. If they are not, a message about missing DynDOLOD Resources is printed. Obviously the tools need to be started from within MO if the DynDOLOD Resources are installed as a mod in MO - as they should. -

Check log lines above the exception for additional hints. Check the FAQ and search official forum FAQ: DynDOLOD.exe: Exception in unit xxx line xxx: Can not copy xxxx from xxxx.esp into xxx.esp A: Often caused by a broken bashed patch. Use a newer Wrye Bash version to create the patch or do not use the merge patches option. A: There might be plugin in the load order with errors. Check the load order for errors with xEdit.exe before generating LOD. Fix all errors. See this video for help. bug Error creating textures for atlas: Error creating normal mipmaps.
sheson replied to Lothar83's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
Error creating textures for atlas: Error creating normal mipmaps. One or more errors occurred It is running out of memory, try the x64 version -
Can you test with version 43? It uses a a different library to run the external commands. It is also compiled with latest Delphi version and has some additional multithreading optimizations. Maybe it makes a difference.

If an error happens while after everything has been completed and done it is minor. Odd that there is no bugreport.txt. You are using MO, yes?

You can ignore that error from xEdit, since TexGen already completed. If you have a bugreport.txt upload that please.

I have not seen anything or posted anything, because I haven't had this error happen myself. And I pretty much got all the alpha, betas and RC of the new MO in the past months too. However, based on the information from your post, it seems there might be an issue with the executed program (xLODGen.exe) starting a child process (LODGen.exe/TexConv.exe) and piping back its console output. It seems that return pipe is somehow redirected by the virtual file system into a file that is/was open for reading.
-
xLODGen does nothing of that sort. This seems to be caused by a bug in the latest MO version. We noticed similar problems being caused by MO when using DynDOLOD. None of these issues happened with earlier MO versions. The way xLODGen/DynDOLOD work is the same since years.
-
Generic questions how to use MO should be asked on a support forum etc. for MO. We provide xLODGen support here. As the first post and the included readme explain, the command line parameter to set a dedicated output folder is something like -o:"c:\OutputPath\" Just setting -o is not going to do anything.
-
It should be good enough to simply reinstall all of those normally with MO to replace the files that somehow became corrupted.

That's a typo in the config files. Will be fixed in next version. Thanks for letting me know.

Look up the texture path in MOs right window Data tab, to find out which mod supplies it. It will be DynDOLOD Resources or TexGen output So either install DynDOLOD Resources again or rerun TexGen. Use MOs right window data tab to find which mod supplies the textures, then reinstall the mod or just replace the textures from download archive directly. If the log is too big, truncate the log to the last generation only. Upload to pastebin or a file service.

The cause of the problem is right in the log: [00:02:29.039] [00:00] Exception in unit userscript line 251: Invalid lodsettings file The corrupt file is lodsettings\aaariverheadworldspace.lod Reinstall the mod or just the file from its download archive. If that does not fix it download it again. The file is fine for me. No idea about the other error. That's from xEdit error check?

The log shows this error Error preparing textures for atlas: Error loading textures\dlc01\lod\dlc01castlefortlod.dds: Can not create temp folder for TexConv D:\Bethesda Modding Tools\DynDOLOD\temp It tries to create the folder if it doesn't exist, but it can't. Remove the -t command line and let it use the default temp, which usually works fine.

FAQ: Game: ILS or CTD A: More LOD uses more memory and this can cause infinite loading screen (ILS) or crash to desktop (CTD) if the game is not setup correctly. This should generally not be a problem with Skyrim Special Edition or Skyrim VR, but for Skyrim double check heap memory usage (block 1) with Memory Blocks Log from https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50471/ and adjust SKSE or SSME memory settings. Or use the alternative OSAllocator from crash fixes with pre-loader. Remove satefy-load if it is used. Setup ENBoost correctly. Set ExpandSystemMemoryX64=false in enblocal.ini. A: Do not use the experimental TreeFullFallBack setting without understanding what it does and what it is for. A: If heap memory is not the cause of CTD see ..DynDOLOD\Docs\DynDOLOD-README.txt for checking if a missing or invalid nif model used for dynamic LOD is the cause. The log notifying that a config file for child worlds does not exist is normal for almost all worldspaces. The message has no significance. The log you posted does not mention "aaariveredge" once. There is also no such worldspace in Dreamborne Islands.esp 1.2 There is a message at the end about checking LODGen logs for error. You did not mention what error you found in that log or upload the log itself. You seem to have a lot of strangely empty loglines in some places. No idea what to think of that. It makes no sense. Use a legal copy of the game

Get the version 2.62 I just uploaded latest version It will tell you the path and filename of the texture TexConv is trying to convert. I currently believe once a texture is corrupt it needs to be reinstalled from the mods archive the texture comes from. It seems the texture is somehow replaced with a mangled version. Once a texture is corrupt, trying different MO versions is not going to help. It would help if we knew what steps/combination of events causes this exactly. Then testing with different version to see if this is something new... The MO log / crash log might have additional information, but I am not even sure what to look for at the moment. There are also other file and folder issues reported on MOs discord with the solution to update Windows 10 to 1089. Maybe it is related.

If it really is this random I suggest to check for hardware issues, like overclocking, cooling, memory timings, bad power supply etc.
