  1. "Whether this program fails or succeeds, whether free modding dies or manages to live on, I can say that I played a part in it for better or worse." - Isoku You know I don't care much for that statement.
  2. So basically, he just did it for kicks. lol
  3. Like so many people are saying though - why chose to support the system that does 1:3 when you could support a system that does 1:0 (in other words 100% to the modder)? Being in league with the Steam Workshop initiative I don't think was a good move at all and apparently others felt the same way (and were much more vocal and rude about it as well).
  4. Personally, my biggest issue with what Isoku (and other authors) did by putting their pay stuff up on the Steam Workshop is that they are supporting a movement by these big companies to start rip-off profiteering the modding community. Modders get 25%, they get 75%. They (the companies) already got their money when they sold the game and the modding community actually already helped them to sell more copies by vastly prolonging the life of the game. The original unmodded game is buggy as hell. People (modders) made it better for free. Now they want to profit off the modders - freaking rip them a new one (one that craps $$$ for them), when the modders already made them more money than they would have even gotten had the modders (and the modding community) not been there. I imagine a lot of people see elements of this going on. Isoku's (in particular) handling of the situation unfortunately made him the "prime co-conspiring modder (so-to-speak)" in the eyes of much of the community. I'm also sure that others are just being brats and they are raging because they didn't get what they want. But I see all that going on...
  5. EXACTLY what I am thinking. They want to get a feel for how they can profit from this endeavor before they release the next Fallout or TES title. Even more reason for the game companies to put out uncompleted products. Now they can do that and then make a KILLING off of all the modders willing to give 75% profit to them and at the same time finish the game for them. And they just sit back and earn money without spending anything. Let the modders put the icing on the cake for them. Not be liable for having to offer support for the mods either. TOTAL money grab.
  6. I forgot to address this - Isoku had previously stated that W&C v2 would include the Ashes addon by default (so it's incorporated right into W&C v2).
  7. Why not? I thought the new Holidays mod was independent of Wet and Cold altogether. BTW - for discussions about buying from the Steam Workshop, check out this thread I started precisely for such discussion: https://forum.step-project.com/topic/7717-buying-from-the-steam-workshop/
  8. I am starting a topic thread to discuss this. What do people think about this? How do you feel about this? Do you think this is a good thing? A Bad thing? Why? etc.
  9. That's not a good sign - this whole dynamic that just sprung up will KILL modding as we know it... A shame.
  10. Sounds like Chesko did it the right way. Apparently people really didn't respect the way Isoku chose to do it without warning and in a misleading way. Getting people worked up for a long time, and then finally only at the time of release going and putting it up on Steam Workshop for $5. That was Isoku's "main" mistake I think.
  11. LOL - I'm reading all the comments for W&C on the Steam Workshop and also the Nexus mod page. Isoku went from universally beloved mod author to possibly the most hated mod author of all time overnight - crazy. Everyone's posting this: Removed by moderator. Keep it PG13 at least, please. LMAO
  12. You are right it seems. Thanks for posting that.
  13. Definitely not - requiring payment for mods will kill the modding community. EDIT: I don't see how a mod with SKSE content could even charge for money though. Can someone say "lawsuit"?
  14. Wow - have you heard about this mod lately? If not - check the Nexus mod page. So much for waiting to add the new version of this mod (v2) to STEP.
  15. Oh shucks... found this pic on Gamwich's mod page:
  16. Check out True Storms, the Splash of Rain element from this mod, and "Downpour". Downpour was just updated for this mod (over Splash of Rain), even though the mod's description says it will be updated 1 month from now. ;) lol
  17. Wow - I'm tagging this for testing consideration. Gotta love Gamwich's work... EDIT: I know we have a mod that does rugs already in STEP, but these look good and I think they are worth comparing to what we already have. Hopefully the design is not lore-unfriendly, or too deviant from the intended vanilla style (for the sake of STEP), but at least a few compares would be needed to get a feel for it.
  18. The Nexus link doesn't currently work...
  19. Maybe KrittaKitty or ShimoOkami? They worked on True Wolves of Skyrim. :) lol How about trying some of the people who worked on Skyrim Immersive Creatures? They might be difficult to get a hold of these days though...
  20. I agree that it does look kind of metallic in that screenshot. Point it out to CaBaL - maybe he'll revise that one?
  21. Looks even more like the splashes from Splash of Rain will be added to STEP soon - if/when this becomes the only way to get the other mods (rainbows and shooting stars). :)
  22. Well, why not call an Irish Elk simply an elk - if that's the only type of elk around? The ones in Skyrim look exactly like Irish Elk fossils. Similarly, the weak Cave Bear in Helgen caves is referred to as just a "bear" by Hadvar. An elephant is different, mainly because "mammoth" is not anywhere in the name itself - and they do call them mammoths, and not Wooly Mammoths. As opposed to Irish "Elk" or Cave "Bear".
  23. No worries - it's easy to put mods back into testing. :)
  24. I don't like it, because it makes Skyrim elk look like common elk; that's like changing the cave bears to black bears. It's not right because the elk are supposed to be Irish Elk. Notice that there are a lot of prehistoric creatures in Skyrim: Mammoths, Sabrecats, Cave Bears, and yes - Irish Elk. Bethesda didn't get confused with moose, like some people think (like the author of the mod)...
