Hey Neovalen, have you ever checked Better Combat Evolved 3.0? It reminds FCR mod, from previously games, being an complete Overhaul to the combat system, making the game more lore friendly and balanced.

I have not, every time I want to get started with my play through and further testing CDProjekt releases another patch... still waiting on two mods but I'm testing some of the more easily testable ones and adding them for now.

Updates 6/25/2016:

Added:

Gear Improvements Last Longer - GILL

Increased LOD

Memory Budget Tweak (user.settings)

Modified:

Immersive Cam (New Version)

Removed:

None

Now that I have a few minutes:

Advanced Video Settings - I will most likely add this one as its very subjective as to if people like or dislike the videos and this gives a toggle switch. Personally, I don't mind the storybooks but I don't load very often.

FOV Slider - Changing the FOV reduces the draw distance of objects in addition to changing the FOV. (Engine Bug/Fact) Therefore while you get a wider field of view you get a worse overall picture. Not likely to be added by me.

Next Gen Candles - Seems like it may be a steep FPS hit for not much of an effect, though there are a lot of candles in the game. Will keep an eye on this one and see if it makes that big of a difference or not.

Unseen Monsters - Witchers have keen ears and should be able to tell where a sound is coming from... personally don't mind this effect and think its better with than without. Not likely to be added by me.

Roachcam - I think immersive cam already covers the settings required to do this. So the mod is therefore not needed.

Jump in shallow water - Potential to be added, I still need to go through the comments and see if any bugs were reported.

Common Eyes - Potential to be added, I just haven't tested it yet.

Better Icons - I used this mod in the past when several of the potions/mutagens did not have unique appearances. As part of latest patches, CDProjekt changed a bunch of the icons to be unique, so I will need to play some before deciding if I want to add it back again.

Kill Count - A nice little mod, potential to be added I just hadn't tried it myself yet.

Volumetric Clouds Over Skellige - I have plans on adding this one eventually.

Realistic Contrast Textures - I have this installed personally and testing it right now... been a ton of updates to it recently (1 or more versions per day...) will see when it calms down.

Minimap Zoom - Will need to check against Friendly HUD or if something else already installed covers a similar effect.

Hey Neo. Any reason why you're not using Hair - increase LOD distance shift mod?

Also, thanks for including my GILL mod in your guide :)

Can I also recommend another mod of mine: More Realistic Food And Drink? :)

Hair - Increase LOD Distance Shift is something I used in the guide for previous patches... unfortunately I did remove it due to some bugs with various minor and major NPCs I found with it installed. Look at the comments section.

I'll take a look at your other mod. :)

Ahhh, just my luck, was about to ask whether the conflicts part of the guide is out of date, cause I was getting some discrepancies.

The major one being playerWitcher.ws (Getting 12 new conflicts ) and r4player.ws which is not mentioned in the guide whatsoever.

I'm not using any of the gameplay affecting mods in the guide, but that shouldn't be an issue with the conflicts, I suppose.

None

Modified:

None (However, get this updated script for Friendly HUDs Radial Menu... Skyliner will hopefully update it on the Primer page soon).

Removed:

Extended Armor System (Temporary... until its back in action... it was just holding me back too much to wait.)

The Enhancement System (Temporary... until its back in action... it was just holding me back too much to wait.)

I also added a note that you should not try to use the buy from recipe functionality when at an Alchemy Vendor. However it will still show you the merchants stock of said items.

Figured I'd give an update on mods I'm looking at potentially incorporating / testing:

Advanced Witcher Book Collection (Re-adds cut content books and some books from previous Witcher games)

Bronze and Silver ReShade (Reshade that keeps the vanilla feel + enhancement by one of the best Skyrim ENB authors)

Crossbow Damage Boost and Balance (Might make crossbows actually useful besides for taking down drowners and flying creatures)

Extended Armor System (Compliments The Enhancement System Light But For Armors)

Increase Creature Loot (Probably just the version that guarantees some drops, not actually increasing the amount dropped)

Realistic Contrast Textures (Adds extra contrast in various textures)

Super Turbo Lighting Mod (Weather Overhaul)

Volumetric Clouds over Skellige (Adds Kaer Morhen volumetric clouds to the Skellige isles)

have you tested these mods ? I'm interested in the book collection and the crossbow damage if there are any problems with them?

I have not tested the Crossbow Damage Boost mod yet. However it has been getting quite a few bug fix updates of late so may want to wait for it to calm down. As far as the book mod, my only concern would be how it plays vs the other equipment mods (that I just removed).
