Weapon Wheel and Change View both using mouse wheel

I like the Weapon Wheel to use my mouse's wheel to scroll through weapons.  I notice that if I'm in first-person view that this works all fine and dandy.  The problem I am encountering is when I switch to third-person view.  In third-person view, even if I am not holding down the change view key, the game wants to use the mouse wheel to control both the weapon wheel and the third-person zoom level at the same time.  This is annoying.

 

The way it could work better: If using the mouse wheel just changed the weapon selection if I am not also holding the change view key.  But if I hold down the change view key, then using the mouse wheel would only change my third-person camera zoom level.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions about this?
