Pro Tip: How to resume a failed MO download

Recommended Posts

So, for whatever reason, you were downloading a huge file from the Nexus through Mod Organizer, got it to like 70%, and then the power went out, you quit Mod Organizer, or something else happened, and now it won't download. You try to click resume, but all you get is a "Download failed: Error downloading https://filedelivery.nexusmods.com............. - server replied: Forbidden (202) " message. You say to yourself, "Boy, I sure wish I wouldn't have to download the whole file over again!" Well, here's how you can:

  1. Go to the download page on the Nexus
  2. On the desired file, click the "download manually'' link
  3. Once the file is beginning to download, pause it.
  4. Copy the download link.
  5. Close Mod Organizer. Keep it closed for this step.
  6. Go to your downloads directory and find the .unfinished.meta file for the file you were downloading.
  7. Open the file with a text editor (such as Notepad or Notepad++)
  8. In the url field, remove the download link there and replace it with your new download link retrieved from your paused download. Be sure to keep the quotes around the link.
  9. Save the modified meta file.
  10. Start Mod Organizer and click resume.

Happy Downloading!

Hi there im new to modding ive been working on this for about two days, everytime i try to download BethINI Standalone below the name it says Failed - Download error or Failed - Network error. I have tried to use other browsers to download it and when i used firefox it said something along the lines of "cannot find BethINI Standalone Version-4875-3-5-1593829244.zip" the only thing i can think of that messed this all up is me deleting BethINI, i deleted BethINI before i downloaded wabbajack because someone reccomended to delete all mods before using it. could anyone help?

      HI peoples;
As much a ted-talk as qanda, but the concept of Merging updates or other files into a main file has come up in my current re-installation of SSE and modding of it:
that being when the STEP says to merge files when you did not download them from the Nexus, but like me, have system stored mods from various games that you are simply re-installing in many ways back into a MO2 Profile for what ever game...
and the option to Merge, Replace, Rename, or Cancel does not appear...
which is because the meta-data does not exist within the Download folder you (should) have set up in your MO2 installation and instance of said game...
Well, the best choice is to simply name the update/optional file exactly as the one it is meant to merge with - which means that when you know your going to be installing various files for the same mod, you need to choose what it is going to be called as a whole - and these options will appear again and this part of the STEP can be achieved easily and as the STEP instructs.
I realise some of you may already know this, but this conversation was begun on another mod forum here on STEP and needed to be continued here instead, so this is for those that may come across the same issue or confusion momentarily.
