A few questions about STEP patches

Hey peeps, 

I am new here, and I am a little confused. I am following the STEP guide, but I have noticed the STEP patches. Which one am I supposed to use and what are they for exactly?

I do not know if I am supposed to use the Extended or Core version as I could not use all the core mods, as one did not please me and another was not available for download any more. I am also using a few of the 'extended' mods.

If you installed every mod on the guide including the ones without the green mark by their name then you want the  Extended Patch. If you only installed the mods with green by their names (Core mods) then you want the Core Patch.

So in my situation none of the patches are for me? 

What are they for exactly?

Use the Combined Plugin HF if you have Heathfire, Dragonborn and SMIM, or use the Combined Plugin if you have Dragonborn and SMIM.

 

They are there to reduce the number of plugins in your load order and to patch STEP. Really there are five questions on the STEP Patches wiki page that tell you exactly what patch to use.
