Okay since I did not want to start a new topic...

Here is the first release version of my daedric weapon retexture

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58470/?

Again it should be fairly lore freindly, and most of the issues should be ironed out... I have uploaded only a 4k and 2k version.... I really do not feel like 1k is even worth it these days. Too much quality loss, and more work for me.

Only issue that remains is a normal map issue with the sword based models...

Oh well enjoy!

I haven't looked at them in game yet, just opened it in Gimp, but I like the detail work. My worry is matching it to armor retextures. Looks like it may go ok with Gloriouz but I use GarryG.

Well I am starting to look over the armor textures as well! But I imagine those will take a while longer to get down... since again, have to get a decent idea. But for now I am just doing the ground work for the armor so that I can get on it rather quickly when I do get the idea.

These look great, always thought Daedric looked impractical to use but these scream evil but at the same time look like weapons a warrior would be able to wield effectively, something I think Bethesda missed in their design perhaps.

Yeah well this was only an educational experience for me! Mainly wanted to try out many different techniques to see which would be more effective.

Only reason the bow is not included is because well... I got bored with daedric stuff and it was really annoying not having a drawing tablet... hand drawing details took forever!

But yeah there are quite a few out there... but imo most of them kinda looked to much like vanilla which was a design I am not overly fond off... always looked kinda bland and boring considering it was the "endgame" items.

Link them for Comparison.

Main one I was thinking of is Skyrealism - Shiny https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48526/

Looks amazing imo, and pretty lore-friendly too.

There's this too :

and this one, though I must admit it's clearly not as good :

Gave Aiyen's mod a quick go and it's very nice, as expected. Style is a bit different obviously because you said you wanted to do something that differs from vanilla, Still it does not stray that far off from it, at least to my eyes. If Skyrealism - Shiny didn't exist, I'd most probably use it :p

Well you can just use the shiny meshes if you want... I did not touch those this time around. I have been tempted to simply remodel and re-uv the models since imo they are a pain to work with... but decided that it would expand the scale of the project too much.

One of the largest limitations I had to work around was that there only is a single material for the entire weapon.. and I kinda wanted both an obsidian material and two different metal ones... but that would again require a re-mesh.

It took way way way too many variations to try to make the obsidian...and compared to the reference images I went from then it still does not capture the look 100%.. mainly because I only have one specular color... and not many.

As for the metal then I had hoped I could do a gritty and dirty looking metal one.. and a polished one.. but sadly that is simply not possible to do using only the textures.

Oh well at least people have been kind with the comments so far and seem to like the textures. Other then a few issues here and there that I want to correct then I think it is time to move on to other projects!
