Question

Figured it might not be a bad idea to just start a general SR support thread for help since the feedback thread is focused on actual SR feedback. I'll start this off.

So was playing earlier today, then went and made today's latest changes:

- Updated Lanterns of Skyrim to use Realistic Lighting Overhaul optional preset.

- Added SkyTEST - Realistic Animals and Predators. Removed More Village Animals and Roosters At Dawn

- Updated Apahii Skyhair Natural Retexture.

I also added Grass on Steroids and it's associated INI changes.

I now CTD every time on the menu load. I reversed the INI changes, unloaded SkyTest and Grass on Steroids and still CTD.

What would be the first steps I should in debugging this?

Thanks!

Best advice is to play around with the ENBoost values and optimize them to your system!

There are no "golden values" that work for all.

If it persist in being a problem then try to disable features like AO etc. and see if that helps.

It is not longer easy to troubleshoot these issues with the new memory additions, since every user more or less need to optimize for their own setup!

Unfortunately... ENB used to just work, now it feels like work. lol :)

So I've only just started the guide and I've run into a problem, more than likely through an error on my part that I'm not seeing. I tried a search in this sub forum and didn't get much, so here I am.

The source of the problem seems to be under the "Create The Skyrim Revisited Profile" section, wherein I was directed to create the Skyrim Revisited Profile on Mod Manager and install SKSE as a test run for our first plugin installation. Well, I screwed something up. You can see the problem in the screenshot I posted below. It must be SKSE making all the strange characters pop up on the main menu. I re-did the section 3 times, following the directions line for line carefully, but still get the same problem. I assume it's something pretty small I messed up. I can't get the game to run in this way. If I run the SKSE app through the Mod Manager shortcut, this is what I get. When I run SKSE through the shortcut in the Skyrim data folder, the game runs normal but SKSE doesn't work as the scripts folder was never actually physically placed in the directory.

It seems SKSE wants to run but doesn't have everything it needs.

This is what I get when I reach the main menu.

If you need any additional info let me know. Hope someone can give me a pointer.

One additional thing I noticed, the line

Check "Handle NXM Links" and "Prefer external browser".

under Configure Mod Organizer (Part 2) cannot be completed because those boxes do not exist. It must be because mod manager has been update to v0.99.2, while the guide calls for 0.99.1. I looked for a changelog but couldn't find one. Have they moved somewhere else or are they automatic?

Is it really a problem of the memory boost? I also tried v1.17 and v13.17.13 from before the introduction of the memory fixes and they have obvious long loading times in comparison to vanilla skyrim and the 'pure' enboost 2.09. There is also no difference in loading times regardless of the deactivation of the graphic features from within the games. Version 1.17 seems to be an exeption that I want to try out further.

But I am surprised if I am the only one with these problems - are long loading times no issues for other ENB users?

Edit: I need to correct myself. I tried different ENB versions one more time and loading times were back to normal. Rebooting seems to have done the trick. What a nice mechanism of Bethesta to advise the users not to play their game too long... :-)

Hmmm I've had that issue too quite some time ago when I just started modding. I wish I could remember how I solved it, but I don't. Probably you should do one of the following:

- Be 100% sure that you have a 100% clean Skyrim install. No copy from a previous installation. Use the discvs/download from steam to reinstall Skyrim absolutely clean.

- Make 100% sure that you make a vanilla skyrim profile (you could call it a pre-SR profile) in M.O. right after this.

- I know you say that you re-did the section 3 times over, but make 100% sure that in your clean Skyrim folder there are NO scripts of SKSE installed (or any other third-party scripts, for that matter, although I do believe the game comes by default with some scripts installed so leave those). The SR:Legendary Eedition guide's SKSE section points you to the specific exe and dll's you should install of SKSE (so use the 7z and not the installer from SKSE).

- Now that I am thinking about it, the issue could potentially be related to a lack of Borderless Window mod. I used to have issues with windowed mode in SKSE until I installed that mod, so you may want to enable that mod just for testing purposes during your SR installation. Not sure if this is what solved it for me, but it should be worth giving a try for you.

I seem to have version 0.12.9...

Make sure you do the manual update as described at

Hi. I'm currently in the early stages of trying for a Skyrim Revisited install.

I posted about this in the general troubleshooting area before noticing this subforum (my bad!) but I have an issue with BUM in that it doesn't seem to autodetect my MO settings or whatnot when I launch it. I do launch BUM through MO and that works fine, but it gives me a bunch of setup options SR has no instructions for.

I am running MO 0.99.1 and am not sure if this is the issue or not. The nexus forum for the mod indicates that 0.99.3 is buggy and I need to look at how to upgrade anyway (this is my first time using the program). I am also not clear on the difference between MO 0.99.1/2/3 and the 0.12.9 versions.

Hi Neovalen. I thought about that but this is also my first time using BUM so I'm not sure what to put in the blanks I have in Masterlist Path and Boss Program. I am also not sure what "User Game" is. It autodetects Skyrim and it autodetects my mod path (Program Files (x86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/skyrim/data) but I'm not sure if this is correct either.

So far, it's not a big deal but I'm sure it'll be more important as I add more of your compatibility patches. Does it have anything to do with my MO version?

Oh crap. I assumed from the lack of extra instructions in your SR guide that it auto-detected whatever settings MO was using. I guess you assumed familiarity with basic BUM setup. D'oh!

So in this case, is there a guide for initial setup? I am still not sure how to configure it. I may be a little overcautious haha.

If you can toss up any information later on, that's fine. I'm still slowly working my way through downloading and installing the mods you've listed. I think it's safe to use BUM to sort your patches later on?

I may try to install BUM through sheer common sense in the meantime. Haha.

 You mod path is correct.

As for BOSS Masterlist and Program it depends on where you got BOSS installed. Mine is:

C:\BOSS\Skyrim\   (masterlist)

C:\Boss\Boss.exe   (program)

BUM is installed to program files. As is Steam and all the "core" Skyrim files. I have my other Skyrim files, including utilities and mods in a separate "Skyrim Mods" folder on my desktop.

I am. I should have said that the mods downloaded/installed via MO are in MO's folder. Others are archives and such from before I started using MO. I have kept some that have to be installed manually and have not been updated in a while so that I can re-use them if I want with MO. Does that make sense?
