Hey guys, I'm translating LOtD mod now. I started to make translated taxtures for books and normal maps. The problem I found when I'm making normal map textures it looks worse than original normal map textures.

First normal map is mine,

the second one is original

As u can see, the original normal map looks more clear

In photoshop my normal map looks like this

And original normal map looks much better

In prewiev my normal map looks worse than original:

And this is previev of original normal map:

I tried a few programs to make normal maps, starting from GIMP to Photoshop. Have also tried Nvidia DDS tool in photoshop and result the same. Maybe you know how can I make normal map much better ?

This is the book I want to make normal map for:

Alternatively, you can also use CrazyBump, which is more user friendly, IMO. Ps doesn't make great normals without a bunch of custom workflow tweaks. Ps is good for assembling layers and alpha for finalizing normals though.
