Vividian Extended should always be below the base Vividian plugin... thats how LOOT sorts it for me... interesting.

LOOT sorted Vividian Extended before Vividian base plugin for me.

Note that with the newer LOOT versions, it will not move plug-ins if it finds no issues. This can lead to completely different load orders using the same plug-ins.

Specific load order will depend on how the plug-ins were ordered before LOOT was ran.

Not sure if that's the issue here, but just a heads-up.

Neo, just a recommendation...

As many users are adding mods on top of SR:LE or not using some mods of SR:LE or even merging mods that are not yet merged in SR:LE; I think it will be a good idea if you could share your LOOT order somewhere in the guide for comparison/troubleshooting purposes. It may solve some of the questions asked.

If so, that is ridiculously annoying as it means you will need explicit rules set up 100% of the time if needed... i.e. you can't assume the underlying order will remain the same. In other words, BOSS would be less work...

Please let me know how it compares in relative order with yours.

FYI, from LOOT readme:

  LOOT 7.0 Changelog said:

Depending on the plugins involved, sorting could produce a different load order every time it was run. Sorting now produces unchanging load orders, using existing load order position where there is no reason to move a plugin.

Basically, the way I understand it (which could be wrong), is that if LOOT doesn't think a plug in needs to be moved, it won't move it. For plug-ins that have no rules per-se, this may be an issue.

Again, I'm unsure if it has anything to do with the above specific issue. But I have noticed in the past, completely deleting a mod from MO, then re-downloading it, it did not go back to it's previous normal spot in the middle of the load order after running LOOT, because LOOT didn't see an issue with it being placed near the bottom.

Not an issue with most mods, but could be an issue with some.

... I'm not gonna upload my txt, but, since I hardly deviate from SR-LE I'm seriously confused to see my list all a shambles in regards to yours Neo.

It's LOOT, basically. It'll produce different load orders for each user and is therefore not consistent... ug.

The problem is, what to do about it. I don't want to add a rule for all plugins...

Doesn't LOOT assess conflicts? If two files don't collide, their exact order doesn't matter, right? Or is it actually making changes such that the conflict winners change from person to person?

LOOT does have an issue reporting feature for their rule masterlists on their GitHub page. It's a separate repository from the main LOOT branch for each game. If the updates make sense generally and arent't specific only for SR:LE, I'm sure they'll be looked at. I think a person can also update the masterlist themselves, but I'm not sure if it's through a pull request or if anyone can just merge.

The problem is I only have my load order to work with and it works fine. Unfortunately that means I cannot guarantee user a, b, c, d will have the same end result.

Also makes it hard to know if a general rule is needed.

@Neo it's just your old "BOSS thinking" lingering in your mind, there really isn't any reason to worry overtly about the order LOOT produces. So long as you tell users to run LOOT you will be assured there will be no conflict issues.

You forgot the /sarcasm on your post... lol.

I genuinely wasn't wanting to sound sarcastic. I only mentioned it because when I first started using LOOT I made a lot of noise about the "wrong" orders that it produced until I actually examined what it was in fact producing and found no issues at all.

If I've hit a nerve then I unreservedly apologise.
