SMC with SRLE Extended: LotD

Is it possible that you have the wrong version of SMIM?  Maybe the timing was such that you HAD the right version... smim updated, you re-opened smc so it updated its definition file, and suddenly you had the wrong version?

Just grasping at straws here as I'm not really sure how it could have happened

I definitely updated. But the way I did it was not what the program wanted. ;) Instead of redownloading the whole thing, I downloaded the update, applied it to the old version, then rezipped and renamed it. Note to self: Don't try to be clever. Just download the damn updated version. lol

Ahhh, yeah that wouldn't have worked because it's digging into the file structure of the smim archive.. all the fomod folders and such have to be there or it won't find what it's looking for.

Yep. :D Lesson learned.

OK so I've had a lot of trouble so far on trying to get SMC to work with SRLE Extended. What's worse is that I fully deleted (didn't disable) most/all of the mods already included in the SMC list. The problem is, I have no idea how my Skyrim will look/work if I switch back to the SRLE/SRLE Extended profiles. I deleted those mods because I wanted to save space, but I don't think that was a pretty swell idea, because I'll probably have to reinstall every mod I deleted for the older profiles to actually work. On top of that, Legacy of the Dragonborn (as well as the guide) has been updated extensively so I'll have to update my game on top of trying to get SMC to work with it. Should I just wait until your guide comes out and reinstall the mods/update my game? I'm a bit stressed out here as I don't really know what to do. I mean, you DID tell me it was worth it to get SMC working with the guide, right?

Not gonna help to blame him for your troubles. Yes, it's worth it. What might work better is if you just say what the trouble is. :)

So right outside of Whiterun, near the stables, there are two braziers added by ELFX. Just stand next to one of them, at night, and turn your camera and see if it flickers.

So just tested this no flickers on the braziers, maybe that's an old version of ELFX?

Random shot, man I love the night sky with SMC!

Got a lot of stutters, maybe I need to optimized all of my MO mod folder first.

Do you people set up the MCM menu first before testing all of your load order or can I just skip setting up all of the MCM?

I don't mind helping you resolve whatever problems you're having but you have to accept responsibility for your own actions.  I didn't break your skyrim and I certainly didn't force you to go down this path.  Now, having said that, how can I help you?

I'm not for sure when/if I'll write a SRLE LOTD SMC guide.  Right now I'm in the process of retooling my SRLE install to be PerMa based.  In the process I'm ripping out some fluff I don't need/want and installing Warzones 2015, Warzones 2015 Assault Attack, and CLARALUX.  This takes time.

I feel like a guide is worth writing but I'm still stumped by the fact that mods like SRTO are really NEEDED to get the right feel out of it and I can't recommend their acquisition or even tell people where/how to find them.

I just coc Riverwood from the main menu, wait on MCM messages to stop, and make a save so that I don't have to keep sitting through MCM delay.

You can open the console and do the coc command directly from the main menu.. no need to do new game or anything.  It'll generate a character for you.

I don't know we can do that. So after you coc to riverwood do you set up every MCM settings or just skip it and go ahead and do a test?

Also I'm having some purple textures on rocks, not all rocks but some, I have suspicion on ruffled feather moss rocks because I've disabled it in replace of moss rocks from northfire.

I just wait on the messages to disappear and then make the save.  I don't bother setting up MCM except on a real character.

You don't have to disable ruffled feather... SMC will properly pick what it needs out of ruffle feather and what is needed out of photoreal.   Just let it do it's job. :)

When photoreal is available it skips ruffled feather moss rocks.. you can confirm that by looking at https://bitbucket.org/drigger/smc/raw/cf8e8a960c232ea41878f1d47e1e44efbab2613f/List/SMC.ini

search for The Ruffled Feather|092 Moss Rocks and look at the end of the lines...  you'll see -Northfire's Photoreal Mountains

I've disabled it because the LotD guide said to disable it, I forgot that I use SMC.

Can you tell me what mod perhaps that change the rocks behind the whiterun stable? near sofia? I got purple textures on all of that type of rocks. Using mfg didn't describe what it is.

Oh, I thought you meant that you didn't include ruffled feather in your SMC merge...  By all means turn off the stand alone version you might have in MO from SRLE.

As for those rocks I'm not sure.  I do know that they are properly textured with the correct versions of SMC rock/mountain replacers.  To isolate the problem I'd start by clicking the backup button for your mods in both panes.  Next disable all mods in the left pane except for vanilla + SMC.  Once this is done you should load your save or coc to whiterun and see if the problem persists.  This identifies whether the problem is with your SMC combination or some conflict you're having with SRLE mods.

Once you've verified whether or not you still have purple textures just click the restore from backup button on both panes. This restores the enabled and sorting state of your mods and plugins.

I'm sorry if that post came off as blaming you for my troubles, I didn't mean to write it that way, and if it came off as that way, I'm sorry. I had no intention of insulting you and I'm really grateful for all of the immense help that you have given me this far ::):

That being said, I don't think I should have even thought of using SMC as I don't think I have enough experience modding (even though this is my 2nd year, I haven't even tried solving conflicts by myself or even touched the CK, but I have modded without the need of a guide). I wrote the post because I was stressed about needing to reinstall everything and I felt like I would have to clear my install and reinstall everything again (this is probably my 6th time doing so).

So, I guess my first question would be: Do I need to delete EVERY mod that was already included in the guide that came with SRLE first, or should I update everything and do that 2nd?

Also, regarding your last paragraph, are you allowed to say something like: "Install all of the mods except for '__________" and just say how to integrate the actual mod with the guide and leave it at that?
