I am using MO. I have STEP installed. I created 2 new profiles per SR one for Skyrim Revisited and one for Vanilla STEP. The problem is that the profiles still leave the mods in the mod list, but dont leave them 'active'. This is unweidly to work with and keep track of. My list of active and inactive mods will get very large. I am using v99.1 which allows me to set up 'groups' and if I stick with v99.1 I may do this. This way I can create a STEP group and just close the group (it acts like a folder). So I basically have an empty Mod list when I build Skyrim Revisited. This is easier to work with. Here are my other options. Or do you recommend sometihng else? 1. Make a bash patch and merge all of STEP to one big bash patch. If I do this, can I uninstall all my mods other than the bash patch? I am not sure if the bash patch has all the data? How do I work with more than on Bash Patch? I would want one just for STEP? In Wrye Bash, I just see 'rebuild patch' or highlight and merge. i do nt see the ability to make more than one bash patch and to rename the bash patch.esp to something like step_bash_patch1.esp. I am not sure if a bash patch includes ALL of the data from a mod or just metadata and .esp data. Please advice. 2. Is there a way to merge them to 1 patch with TES5Edit? I really just want 1 file for STEP, so my Installed Mods directory in MO is empty and easier to manage. 3. Back up my Mods from the Skyrim install directory (do I have to backup the entire Skyrim install?), backup my profiles from MO. Then if I want to restore back to step copy back. I have plenty of space and backup software to do this, but its a bit of a hassle and time consuming to do the copies. To summarize: MO profiles are nice. However, all they do is 'uncheck' the mods from the install directory. I dont want these mods to be visible to me when I work on SR. I just want SR mods visible so its easier for me to keep track of what I am doing.

Deadly Dragons is not functional with the open sequence in Helgen. If you install it before that when you get to the headsman, the game just stops. you cant get up and the script doesnt continue. i had to install it after that. so someone who understands this stuff will have to figure out how to incorporate it. If you add mods that have huge battle sizes or Way Of Dovorkin, we will need something for people on moderate PCs. Both of the mod pages say this can be CPU intensive. Way of Dovorkin does have settings, but it seems to spin off a thread or something to times spawning mods (according to the mod page), so advice on how to set that for people with moderate PCs would be good. Input from guys on a budget would be helpful too. I just upgrade my PC. Im trying really hard not be come a mod addict like you guys and play the damn game.

Some questions from a 1st-time installer
youtoo replied to Cretgren's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Answers in Order: 1. MO giving you alerts: Are you using MO v99.1 beta? I think this is a first attempt to tell you when mods are up to date. Its not working. Ignore it. There are a few mods in STEP, that you are not supposed to run the latest version on anyway. The 2 I can remember are: -- SkyIU(use 3.4). Not in STEP, but the mod you install after it NACMIM or something like that has a SkyUI patch that only works with SkyUI3.4. If you run the game and open the map with the latest SkyUI running you get an error. So then you know to downgrade -- HD Textures 1.5. They don't 'say' to do this. What they say is to get the 4 indidivual files. The 1.6 is bundled. It includes a Riften skin. The very next mod you installed Serious HD, has its own Riften Texture which the STEP guys tell us better. So just ignore that part of v99.1. Some guys on here (mixed opinion) have told me to use MO 12.9 and then to make sure I download the option NCC file and install it and stay away from the v99.1 beta. It seems to work ok for me. There are a few annoyances though... I may switch back. 2. BOSS: Boss orders your load order for you. In MO, to the right where you see data tab. See the .esp files? This is what MO orders. The order they load is critical. So some nerds maintain a master list of how to order mods. BOSS just reads that list and orders them for you. Run it anytime and read the report to get familiar with it. Make sure to run it after you install a new mod and run the game. Be warned, you will get errors in the report during STEP installation. Don't worry about it. They should resolve themselves as you get more mods installed. The errors are because mods that are required are not installed yet. with the v99.1 version of MO, I did have a problem with Better Quest Objects that did not resolve. I had to disable the Paarthumex Dilema.esp fix. (dont worry about it unless it happens to you after the game is installed, then post here. ) 3. TES5Edit: STEP has only 1 STEP where you need to use TES5Edit. I believe its in one of the mods named 'enchanted'. Search for it and find one with Detailed instructions. Read that. Dont worry about this until you get to that point. TES5Edit has another very nice feature. When we install alot of mods, alot of times we crash to desktop and cant figure out why. TES5Edit will simulate running the game and if you get a CTD during load will stop at that point and tell you the culprit and what the problem is. Go to youtube and watch the TES5Edit videos. I think the ones by Gopher explain the details of the report. TES5Edit does alot of other stuff too, but we dont need most of it for STEP. I am still learning this stuff. One Tip: Run your utilities from MO. They run better. At the top I believe the 3rd button lets you add executables. Then on the right at top you see a drop down box with 'run'. I think MO passes them flags and parameters at startup to sync stuff up. So add the executables. -

as an ignorant person, how difficult would it be fore Bethesda to release a 64 bit version of skyrim? I am a DBA and the developers need to take a .net application(much simpler than skyrim) and convert to 64 bit. They just recompiled it with a different compiler. is it possible to convert the game or a piece of the game to 64 bit without the source code (I figure the answer is no ,but Im ignorant).

@rootsrat: This is not true for Wrye Bash? I have to copy the files over to the install directory in order that I want them installed?

i had an issue with idles. I ran the fnis.exe script, but it did not work. I had a similir issues. was not outside of cart, but no npcs at all and back up cart waas bent up in 90 degree angle. doors to helgen did not open and cart crashed into wall and fell over. i could not get idles to work and not sure what I did wrong. I followed the STEP instructions. when I uninstalled this it worked fine. Not sure what I did wrong. Ill troubleshoot eventually more to figure it out. I think its in STEP as 'new idles'. commonly called something like FNIS. there is a separate .exe you have to run.

STEP installed and stuff I still dont understand
youtoo posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
First off thank you for being patient with all my stupid questions. I know I ask the same questions more than once, but some answers actually dont make sense to me. I think part of it is that I dont get the lingo. I have read alot of stuff and did the STEP install. See below for what I have done so far and where I am at. After I get a better understanding of this, Ill post a faq (which you may want to sticky) for utter newbs. It will be stuff that I had trouble getting. Part of learning something new is getting used to the lingo. I think some of the stuff I can post may reduce redundant questions since Ill word it in a different way for people who don't even understand the basics. I have worked professoinally as a DBA for 14 years. This is kind of my process for learning new tech skillsets. Please bare with me. I really dont want to monopolize the forum. I also understand you guys are busy and have lives. Current State of my STEP My PC My Mod Naming Conventions (based on STEP) -
go to nexus and look for SkyRe 'reproccer'. Its a special mod you have to run manually. SkyRe changes a bunch of files other than SkyRe. SkyRe makes changes to other files and this needs to be run before this works. Also, if you have other mods installed, there are a bunch of Reproccer patches for them too. I had an issue with SkyRe myself that caused me to reinstall. This is before I discovered STEP. I had installed it, but I had alot of mods installed and was getting CTD. So I uninstalled everything and slowly added stuff back to find the CTD. I got the CTDs from mods that enhanced towns/cities., etc. and NOT from SkyRe. reinstalled SkyRe, re-ran the reproccer. I got a popup saying 'you have a potion to change your perks'. Potion never came (evne with a new character) and no perk tree changes. SkyRe wouldnt work. I reinstalled Skyrim. What else do you have installed? You may want to try a fresh skyrim installed and just do SkyRe to see if you can get it to work (need reproccer and can save your save games). SkyRe 'should' give you a popup stating you got a potion to refund your perks.

Skyrim Redone and warning: xxxMagicSneak
youtoo replied to FCqt's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
that skyre fix that you posted. how do we add this with mod organizer? I am new to modding. so if we are using STEP. do we put SkyRe and this 'fix' to the bottom in BUM? -
wanted Installing ASIS and SkyRe with some additional stuff
youtoo replied to Iroha's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
would i be able to install SkyRe and ASIS on top of STEP? I am not really up to try Skyrim Revisited. I just got STEP installed. It looks like you install these mods right after the Sound mods in Skyrim Revisited. Would that work for STEP? looks like I would have to do this merge (wrye bash merge right?) 16. Skyrim Redone optional for Even Better Quest Objectives. Merge with Even Better Quest Objectives. that looks like it. then do the reproccer compatibility patcher and the reproccer. is there a guide for adding this to plain step? -
I got step installed for the most part. I am using MO v99. I created a new profile for Skyrim Revisited. Per STEP instructions I renamed my mods to match the Order such as D_1_ When I do SR, I will want to rename them to match the SR numbering/ordering so its easier to find the mods.made a new profile, but it shows my existing mods from my STEP profile with the names. Is there a way to take a backup of these mods and the profile and then rename/install for Skyrim Revisited? I would want to be able to paste the mods back into my Skyrim/Data directory in a way that MO picks them up for my STEP profile?Â

@As far as DCO changing too much. Its configurable. You can turn it off in game. Note if you add this, people with weaker PCs will have to turn the settings down. In the readme it says that high spawns can be harsh on PCs. if you add organized bandits, you need to make sure to add a note that Deadly Dragons cant be skipped. HIGHLY recommend they go into Deadly dragons and set important NPCs to unkillable'. This is the only mod I have seen that does this. i messed with it in a previous skyrim install. My first trip to Whiterun got raided. Several NPCs died. I did not check to see if they were important. It was on the outskirts of whiterun. but it was a cool battle. NPCs and I against bandits. However, the game will become unwinnable if your NPCs get wiped. Deadly Dragons goes well with Dragon Combat Overhaul because you can add more dragons to the fight. What about the 2 civil war mods? WARZONE and Civil War Overhaul (brand new so maybe too early). Skyrim Sizes is a small mod that is alot of fun. It makes mobs that are supposed to be tall, REALLY tall. The first giant you run into at Whiterun is enormous.

I found the mod that caused the problem and disabled it. Its not really 'solved', but I can atleast run the game. See below:  Problem: Launch game from Mod Organizer with SKSE (or without doesnt matteR). 1. No NPCS 2. cart I am on goes to helgen. doors dont open (so some scipt is wrong). hits the walls and falls over 3. cart I am on does not look right. In back it immediate has a 90 degree angle like its a wall. 4. see 1 mob that i ride through outside the gate not moving. No NPCS. Ride wagon and door t Helgen never opens. Wagon crashes to its side and falls over. I do see 1 random NPC standing in front of the gate , but we ride through it. Cart I am on does not look right, It has a raised back. At the bottom, I have what I think may be the issues. It is a guess. Tools: Mods disabled: Ini changes per guide: follow 3.A.4 Issue that may be causing this. 1. When MO asks you to 'set a data directory' Is this how I should handle it? The MO guide is not real clear. If I need to pick 1 data directory, do I have to 2. MO installed mods in a different skyrim directory 3. Troubleshooting?

1. using v99. There were multiple people who told me to use v99. I have to find the links. You dont even get the option to not use fomod for this with v99. There is a thread where someone said Better Quests installs fine with v99. I will find it. Could boss be incorrect? When I added the .esp back after everything else was resolved I ran tes5edit and no issues? 2. installed. Then ran tes5edit and it tells me to move this .esp up the load order. that fixed it. was not in STEP (or I missed it). Ran BOSS. Fixed. (in case someone else has the problem) 3. The Disease Descriptions RND_compatibility.esp is in the vanilla download under main. Right click and moved to 'optional' in MO. So that is fixed. I downloaded the mainfile here. Its fixed, but in case someone else has a problem. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/31202/?tab=2&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D31202&pUp=1 New

this is solved. Also note, the error you get on startup doesnt matter. the MO author said it on nexus. its buried in the big MO thread. we should probably put this in the MO wiki about v99.

i opened up effect shader and see a series of entries under them titled with numbers and letters. I highlight them and try to pull them. nothing happens. what is considered an 'entry' I know this is a stupid question, but I have been through all the tes5edit guides and I am watching multiple tes5edit videos and I cant figure out what I highlight to 'drag'. What is considered an entry and draggable?Â
-
This part of SR is recommended by STEP https://wiki.step-project.com/User:Neovalen/Skyrim_Revisited#Acquisitive_Soul_Gems I made the ASG-AWE patch.esp Then it says: "Drag the "Effect Shader" from Animated Weapon Enchants.esp into ASG-AWE Patch.esp." I opened up animated Weapons Enchants.esp and clicked and held on Effects Shader, it doesn't 'drag'. How do I 'drag' ths to ASG-AWE patch.esp? I went to the cleaning guide and regular TES5Edit guide and did a search for the word 'drag' and don't see it. I am running TES5edit from with in MO. Which TES5Edit video/doc would explain this? The ones I am seeing talk more about cleaning and making patches not all the features.Â

I just got through all of my STEP Mod installs with MO. I have 3 BOSS I was able to resolve this in BOSS and TES5Edit, but not sure if its right by doing the following: 1. Even Better Question Objects -> Information. Set the Paarthumax.esp in this patch to option 2. disabled the WEapons/Armor Fix. I have the multi-mod compatibility patch which is what STEP recommends. 3. after doing this, i ran TES5Edit again and got another error. I was able to resolve it by disabling the .esp in MO plugins list, but I am confused about it. Should i do this? See errors below. Errors. I am not sure what to do: I have Paarthurnax Dilemma installed, but Even Better Quests is in Category D and Paarthurnax Dilemma is in Category M so its long after Even Better Quests I have midianBookofSilence. 3 mods in I. Unique Items, Weapons, and Armor Improved Closefaced Helmets is installed in Section I. TES5Edit after The above to were disabled

wanted Installing ASIS and SkyRe with some additional stuff
youtoo replied to Iroha's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
this is a newbie question, but you say 'place a mod under another mod'. I take that to mean use the MO priority to put a mod right after another one. Is that priority just for load order? By moving the mod into a specific priority does it affect the install order? I thought your install order is the order that you physically do the install of each mod. -
Even Better Quest objectives only install only optional ESP
youtoo replied to nubkratos's question in General Skyrim LE Support
see my other post about how im having issues with v99. I made a thread about MO. -
Even Better Quest objectives only install only optional ESP
youtoo replied to nubkratos's question in General Skyrim LE Support
to anyone else who cant figure this out. go to tools -> installers tab and then 'uncheck' prefer integrated fomod installer. the install. recheck when done. i think it would be a good idea to add this to the main STEP guide. -
Even Better Quest objectives only install only optional ESP
youtoo replied to nubkratos's question in General Skyrim LE Support
could someone be more clear on how to load this mod using MO? How do you NOT use the fomod installer? I hit manual. Then I get errors. when I try to load. do i 'repack', pull out the fomod directory and then create my own 'data directory' and put everything under that? do i set the wrye bash instasll directory to be the same as the mod directory for mod organizer? an d then install this to the mod orgnaizer directory with wrye bash. This is very confusing and vague. these instructions are not clear.
