  1. all of the modern SSDs will work. really should be plug and play. Plug it in and boot up. I like to install windows on my SSD for faster bootup, but this takes up alot of space. if you dont know how to adjust pagefile.sys and turn off sleep and get rid of the hybernate file, dont do this or read about it. if you dont know what this means dont do it. Crucial is a good choice. Just plug it in. Boot up normally. Go to disk manager and see if the disk shows up. Then right click and format it. Then you are good to go. Note, this won't be bootable without a windows installation. Should show up as a new drive letter in windows. Its just like initializing a regular hard drive. adding a hard drive is relatively simple. Windows will auto-detect it.
  2. thanks for the spoiler tags. my post is too wordy. will do.
  3. is there any general information for adding new mods? It seems like with STEP and Skyrim revisited its important to install mods in a certain order. So if I want to add mods that I think go in a certain category, is it a good start to add non-STEP mods when I add mods in that category? so a bashed patch rolls up all the mods into 1 big patch right. Is that the same thing as a 'merge' in Wrye Bash. I saw that mentioned in the forum post discussing adding SkyRe and ASIS to Skyrim Revisited.
  4. Was asked to edit this post to make it more readable using tags. Ill try to order it better too. Goal: Try to understand the Skyrim modding process and tools instead of just following STEP so I can possibly recover from errors. Already had to reinstall Skyrim once. I want to understand how all this works. Docs I am reading/re-reading. Tools downloaded: Question 1: What is a Bash Patch and 'merging' Question 2: Issues Setting the Wrye Bash, bash.ini to point to a non-default location Question 3: Bundling Mods (possibly wiht a bash patch) so I can more easily add and remove them Question 4: TES5Edit in Skyrim Revisted Question 5: Is a Merge the same thing as a Bash Patch? Question 6: If I have alot of mods, how do I tell what needs to be merged. Question 7: How do I know when I need to 'clean' a patch with TES5Edit
  5. https://en.cataclysmdda.com/ This is a FREE roguelike zombie survival game. It only has ASCII screens so no graphics. However, it is very detailed and alot of fun. The game is open source and they post the code on GITHUB. Modders are encouraged to participate and work with the core group to role mods into the main branch (if you want). They just funded a kickstarter. One of the guys agreed to work for next to nothing to enhance the game. A roguelike is a game with a randomized world everytime you start and features permadeath(game over if you die once). The interface is clunky and not 100% intuitive, but there is a good wiki. The team is pushing out features quickly so the interface suffers some. There is even a nightly build you can download. The download is small. There are alot of people who came over from the Dwarf Fortress community (another free roguelike). Features: -- very detailed crafting and construction. you can make and take apart just about anything. You can even make drugs, lighting, radios, pots, etc... -- many types of zombies. More than just zombies. There is a sci-fi element and wildlife. -- many buildings, towns, and locations with more added all the time. FEMA camp where all the FEMA people went zombie, hospitals full of zombies, Science Labs, giant bees, deadly fungus -- if your a gun nut your in luck. Every kind of gun you can think of and you are welcome to add more. Along with melee and archery -- location based damage system. Your leg gets broken, you have to splint it or go to a hospital -- no levels. 100% skill based. Skills go up by using them. There is a unique morale system. higher your morale, the faster your skills go up. If you don't use skills they go down. -- you get hungry, thirsty and can die of this. -- seasons and weather that affect game play as I stated there are no graphics. So its not like skyrim. Its also pretty hard to get into with a high learning curve. It is alot of fun once you get into it.
