Here are some thoughts on the Dreadflopps Modular Patches page, as that's where I feel most of the confusion is coming from. It's mostly re-wording sentences a bit, and adding small bits of explanation that I feel might help. The balance is not explaining too much, so that the explanation itself becomes confusing. I'm not certain I've attained that, or even that everything I've said is exactly correct but I think some of this should clarify things. I think color coding the sections might visually integrate them a bit better, and make it easier for users to group relevant information, and find what they're looking for if they're skimming. I fully intend to cover the Patches section as well (if you find this useful), but this is what I've got for now. -
Feeling a bit overwhelmed here
baronaatista replied to Dovahkiin's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
The real question is, where do you want to end up? 100% agree the official STEP guide is a wonderful tool to learn about the more advanced aspects of modding, and these forums and the various STEP wiki pages expand upon that incredibly. I began by installing STEP: Extended 2.2.9.2, and then turned to the Packs for additions. What I found was most of what I wanted to use came from a user 'Dreadflopp'. I initially only wanted to use certain mods, but after continually re-working my setup and play testing I found that I saw the sense in what he was putting together, and kept installing more mods from his packs - Dovahkiin Reborn, Deleveled Loot, Gameplay Rebalance, and Survival. From there, I found his Dreadflopps Modular Patches page, which led me to SRLE & SRLE Extended. So yeah I'm probably not helping with the confusion. I have found it extremely helpful though using all the guides for information on compatibility, mod combinations, install (MO left pane) order, etc. If none of the guides is really containing the additions you want though, you will likely have to become very familiar with MO, xEdit, LOOT and Wrye Bash tools at the least, and probably Merge Plugins if you're planning on doing anything big. Sort of worth considering where you might end up, I feel, so you can know what to pay attention to as you go through the guide. Though the true answer there is everything, as the more you know the more you can do. -
Been a while since I used TreesHD/SFO - I use Enhanced Vanilla Trees and Enhanced Landscapes. However I don't believe it is dependent on SFO, I believe it just includes meshes used in SFO; VERY IMPORTANT:You need the folder "meshes" and two textures (Vurt_Pine01,Vurt_Pine02) included in this pack (or alone in the optional file). This is the sames which is located in "Vurts_Skyrim_flora-Overhaul". Without, no variation (that's all). The main file contains all you need ! You're correct that you probably don't need the two VL patches, though the 'Tundra Ground from Skyrim HD' is a texture optional and really down to preference. As for Spice of Life - Forts again I do not use as I really don't like the execution of that mod, but I don't think removing the parallax files is really important? I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain it would function just fine without an ENB, and shouldn't affect your performance. Don't know much about LOD's sorry.

lol I think Neo said he was waiting on SoS to add it to SRLE on one of the first pages (which I'm guessing was a joke, as SoS isn't in SRLE either). I think people are confusing Neo's comment for an official 'STEP' position. OR it's all a joke. I can't tell. Also yes I am stupid. I thought the Better Males meshes had taken care of all the feet issues with this wonderful mod, but alas. The Forsworn boots with the open toe. And probably others that I haven't seen yet.

Don't know anything about hardware, but I'm thinking my man Whetstone is probably right that your issue is VRAM and not script lag. Base SRLE is pretty tightly configured for script weight, and should even leave room for some additions - and it doesn't look like you're adding anything with active scripts. That being said you can also use only textures from both EBT and DSI. I'm not seeing BFS so assuming you've not installed, which is probably a good idea - apparently it's possible to use only the textures from that as well, though I've never tried. Also, I've found in my own experience NPC KO to be a bit buggy... not exactly heavy hitting, but providing a decent amount of unexpected/unwanted behaviors - I do use many mods in addition to SRLE so it's possible that the issues came from them (It was definitely acting weird with Vigor's bleedout). For my purposes I have removed it, and honestly haven't noticed much. Probably a great mod for a thief/pacifist playthrough, other than that I don't see the point. In order to do any of that, you will have to edit your SRLE CR - remove the corresponding entries and 'clean masters' or do your own and simply omit said entries.

I don't think the problem is with your english, as you use it extremely well - I would never guess it was a second language without knowing. I believe the issue is only with the organization of information, specifically in the beginning - Intro/Install Order/SRLE sections. The correct information is all there, and if read carefully should tell anyone able to read it what to do. Something about the way it's presented made me, at least, want to gloss over parts of though - at least, when I was first approaching all this. I just read the whole page and I've got some thoughts - it's late right now and I'm gonna actually play Skyrim a bit, but I'll get back to you tomorrow if I can come up with some specifics. -

I'm not certain if you need the STEPCore__STEP patch fix.esp, as I use the SRLE patches, but I would guess yes. You can always load up xEdit and check what that .esp is doing if you're unsure. As far as I can tell you should need the Deadly Dragons, Ordinator, xSTEP forward, and likely the patch fix.esp's. Make sure you add the LOOT rules and Bash Tags to your merged patch Load orderLOOT Rules: Dreadflopps modular patches merged.esp Set global priority 990600 Bash tagsAdd the bash tags names, stats, relev and delev to the merged patch using Wrye bash. -

Merging To save plugin slots and to make sure the load order between the patches doesn't get messed up it is recommended to merge all of my plugins. Use these instructions to merge the patches. Make sure my plugins are sorted in alphabetical order. Name the merged plugin "Dreadflopps modular patches merged.esp" and the new mod Dreadflopps modular patches merged. -

The packs each used to have merged patches, which Dread has stopped doing for the moment, thus the instructions to merge your own patch. I admit I always did find the 'Dreadflopps Modular Patches' page somewhat confusing. The information is all there though. -

1. Patches for Dreadflopps packs + Survival by Smile44 Notice:My patches will no longer have ELE (Enhanced lighting for ENB) as an optional, it will be a requirement from now on. This folder contains 3 subfolders. They require ELE to be installed. Install all patches from the subfolder that matches your base game install (STEP: Core, STEP: Extended or SR:LE). Hide or remove the patches that are for mods that you do not use. Note that, as mentioned before, if you have STEP: Extended installed and have added any mod from SR:LE that has a patch in the SR:LE folder, use those patches instead of the STEP: Extended patches. -
I'm not sure I understand... I've been using this for the past year - admittedly, I've been tweaking my setup more than I've been playing, but I have played through to level 8/10 multiple times, with Frostfall/Ineed/Hunterborn and skillexpmults at about half in uncapper - so like 20-30 hrs. each, and I haven't noticed a single issue - with shoes, without, pants/no pants, etc. At the absolute most I've seen very minor neck and or wrist seams, but only under certain lighting conditions, from certain angles - and only when purely inspecting the textures. Never in actual gameplay. What is the issue with feet that needs to be fixed? I've taken a couple screenshots - now these are not off a STEP profile as I don't have a proper one currently, and I'm using all kinds of stuff STEP doesn't, so the intention isn't to be true STEP 'testing' shots. However I think it's hard to look at these and think - shelved until the feet get fixed? Really? https://imgur.com/a/G8Dxg

ACCEPTED Modern Brawl Bug Fix (by Enai Siaion)
baronaatista replied to Greg's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I have it loaded almost at the bottom of my MO left pane, only a couple small mods and then Patches/Skyproc stuff comes after. Conflicts tab shows nothing overwriting. * checking now, I'm seeing I must have had BSA extractor set to false when I installed Ordinator, as I have a BSA for it. Perhaps some weird behavior is happening with priority between loose files and BSA. -
ACCEPTED Modern Brawl Bug Fix (by Enai Siaion)
baronaatista replied to Greg's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Small point - in an attempt to ensure the scripts would correctly overwrite in MO, I unpacked the BSA (plus I use SRLE which unpacks all BSA) and that seemed to have some weird behaviors, such as brawls randomly ending in the middle, with no result & lost investment, brawls simply not starting after the dialogue prompts, and just breaking altogether - everyone starts attacking me. Leaving BSA packed seems to solve those issues. -

As always man no worries. I hate to feel like I'm pestering you - I sure did enough of that when I started this whole thing, I just feel like I actually have something valid to contribute at this point as I've been playing and tweaking for almost a year straight now. My install is complete now - I am working on that NPC 'buff' mod I was talking about a long time ago, which will be the final piece to my thing, at least until Chesko drops Last Seed / Hunger in the North and please oh please an injuries mod. So mostly all I have to do now is actually play this thing and maybe I'll have some more developed thoughts once I've really given it some time. With that, a couple notes; 1 - the link to Wintermyst - Loot and Degradation patch points to the page for Wildcat (Gameplay Rebalance Pack) 2 - More Interesting Loot, while a great idea appears to be a bit unfinished and doesn't seem to be currently supported. If you check the posts tab on the mod page you'll see people raising a number of what at least appear to be legitimate issues, with no response from months ago. Amongst the issues - ingredients with only one listed effect, unable to disenchant items, some incorrect linking for alchemy notes/recipes and enchantments having static assigned values thus being unaffected by enchanting skill level. Can't confirm or deny any of that as I didn't play with it long before uninstalling - major issue for me was the tons of loot it adds that is not friendly with MLU - Ebony, Glass and so on. I had no idea how to sort that without completely losing access to those items (ie. deleting them), so I just dropped it and went with Wintermyst, which I am loving in the short time I've played with it. Really did like the MCM options for MIL, but too much other stuff going on for me to use it right now. - on that note I will say after a short time with Wintermyst I'm finding even with Loot and Degradation enchanted item chance set at 1 they're still dropping a bit too frequently, at least for my tastes. Not really a real issue but I do wish there was a way to configure that a little better. 3 - Advanced Adversary Encounters new version(s) is out - 3 different versions; Noob, Normal, and Nightmare. Normal version has normal weapon resistance for undead and such at 50%, much more reasonable than previously. Can't say much more than that at the moment as I haven't played with it long, but from what I can tell after looking through it briefly in xEdit, looks great. SirJesto's patches look better than they did before as well, and apparently work for all 3 versions the same. I've dropped BYS as both mods attempt to handle resistances and both in different ways, and the extra silver arsenal doesn't justify it especially since I've also added Faction Crossbows + Dawnguard Arsenal. I'm sure you'll want to play with it before you make a decision, but this new version does look promising. The Nightmare version has undead/vampire resistance to normal weapons at 100%! Yikes. 4 - Small note on textures - highly recommend grabbing the 'galaxies only' file from Ethereal Cosmos, and using the star textures from Enhanced Night Skyrim (maybe Vivid Weathers, I've never used the star/galaxy textures from it - highly doubt the galaxies look as good as EC, but the stars in EC could use some subtlety). Also Skygazer Moons + (if you want) Constellations... Constellations will already be covered almost certainly by whatever star replacer you use, but I personally like FadingSignals... I use either the 'less bright no nebula' or 'less bright with nebula' version, can't remember which at the moment. Also, when I was testing AmidianBorn Landscape before, I had just installed Enhanced Landscapes + Verdant, and I was loading Verdant after EL foolishly, so a decent amount of my landscape textures were skewed, so my impressions of AMB were skewed. Vivid Landscapes is still undeniably an incredible texture pack, and I might still like it better overall than AMB... However, AMB is just about it's equal in quality, is much closer to vanilla, and doesn't touch on anything that isn't specifically landscape. It also covers snow + glaciers, which VL does not, and it's snow as I said before is (IMO) the best snow texture available. AMB can't mess with Rocking Stones and Mountains 2 from the VL pack though, as those are my favorite mountain/rock textures. If similarity to vanilla is an issue at all, there is a "Classic Grey Mountains' download available on the main VL page that looks quite good in game. I am enjoying the look of it as supplied on the RSM2 page though personally. 5 - I'm considering a change of occupation as well, and actually this whole experience with modding has made me consider computer science / programming myself. I do have a bachelors degree in Illustration, so it might behoove me to really make a push at doing something with that however. Allowed myself to be defeated before giving it an earnest attempt there. - Enjoy playing Mario with your kid, that sounds like fun! And don't feel the need to respond, I'm only posting this stuff here at this point for whatever utility it might have to you/users. -
SRLE Extended: Legacy of The Dragonborn
baronaatista replied to Darth_mathias's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
In the comments section Alex9ndre says about vampires; Their weakness to fire is either 50% or 100%, I forget which one exactly and in the new version of AAE they are only 50% resistant to normal weapons, They have no resistance in the Noob version and are fully Immune to normal weapons in the Hardcore version. So in Nightmare vampires (I'm guessing Werewolves too) are completely immune to normal weapons. I foresee a lot of dead npc's, which is why I'm using the normal version. -

If you ask me, you guys need to form like Voltron, pull some strings and put together some ultimate Skyrim Child Overhaul + Everybody's Different epic NPC overhaul - completely ironing the kinks out of both mods in the process. Will probably only be a little work, right... lol. Oh and while you're at it, lets get a Skyrim equivalent of the brilliant FO4 mod 'Lots More Hairstyles' - we'll say, re-worked every vanilla hair mesh + texture to stay true to concept but in the highest possible fidelity, and then mix and match styles to create a real volume of choices, including facial hair, all in a consistent style. Then apply those hairstyles to your new diverse Skyrim npcs. If you can't tell, this is my personal wish list, not actual requests. One can only hope. -

RS children is one of the mods I don't use from SRLE - while I like a lot of what it does, to me the children don't look like they fit in Skyrim... Then again I don't use the NPC retextures either so I can't say how that works for you guys. Anyway, the look + all the patching required is a no go for me. Rustic Children looks fine, the boys eyes are just slightly girlish, whatever. The clothing, obviously, looks awesome and goes side by side with rustic Clothing. If I were to use a more complex child mod it'd be something like this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/62676/? It's abandoned, and not fully functional, but a great idea. Authors made it a resource though, so maybe someone will pick it up. -
Are people too soft today? Will there be consequences?
baronaatista replied to a topic in Step Banter Inn
@Ess - no, I'm in North York - midtown or uptown, depending on who you ask. Used to be a really Italian area, it's changing now. I'm not really a beer guy, but Steamwhistle is solid beer - no idea why you guys can't get it. I prefer Mill Street, which is a brewery local to TO - their 'stock ale' is a solid beer. That is a pretty sweet area of Toronto though - Kensington right nearby, the Trinity Bellwoods park, and LOTS of great restaurants and shops. -

That point about BYS and Jorrvaskr is legit. Totally possible to just use Jorrvaskr No Silver.esp without BYS I believe. -

Totally not trying to make this out to be like it some big issue for me - its just a thing, everybody's got some BS that they don't like about themselves or some way in which they feel inadequate, which can be stirred up by various pressures in the world. At least, I think so? I've been working at an Italian restaurant for the past couple years in Toronto, and I am surrounded a bit by pushy, aggressive, 'important' italian dudes on a pretty regular basis (my boss being one of them) so that probably is stirring me a bit right now. And about my Avatar - perhaps subconsciously, but mostly I just really love Fallout New Vegas and one of my favorite playthroughs was as a Super Sledge wielding (the Oh Baby) Power Armored dude, and I loved that perk. -

At this moment I'm gonna bow out of the Trans-gendered topic; these forums, as expected, are a rare place on the internet where a polite discussion can actually happen, I'm just not educated or involved enough to really continue. Suffice it to say I think they deserve every right and compassion we would give anyone else, and I just think the uproar that can happen about terminology sometimes is odd. Probably a good discussion needs to be had there, perhaps it is being had currently, but I'm not sure I have much to offer. @Sparrow - I'm not sure anyone ever gets bulletproof and that was actually more my point. I shared some stuff there about myself to parallel how some trans-gendered or LGBT people may feel (not at all trying to equate keep in mind) - I too have been labelled at times, called names, and made to feel low because of personal characteristics - some of which are simply me, and can't be changed. Yet because I don't have any special condition, there is no special help for me - indeed the only answer for me is to just suck it up. I have learned to suck it up, and this crap doesn't really affect me the way it used to - I have also pushed myself and grown in ways, as I realized that part of the reason this stuff did bother me was that I knew it was important to learn to be more assertive and confident, and that not doing that would make me feel even weaker, and make the problem worse. In fact, one of the most important things I've learned recently is that almost any time I'm in a conversation and someone says something about me, and I start to feel offended or upset - almost every time its because there is some truth to what they're saying, and I'm trying to avoid that truth. I'm not bulletproof and I don't foresee a time where the wrong jerk makes the right comment and it gets under my skin. I can however reduce the amount of time I spend carrying around that weight, and the stronger I am personally the less it weighs me down in the first place.
