Go ahead with those changes if you want.

Good catch. Yes the CCC and INI ancillary guides should be consistent with the STEP Guide (which is correct). I'll fix now

I updated the guide.

I like this for STEP:Extended. STEP:Core should stick more closely to vanilla ... by the screens on this post, MM HD sticks very closely to HRDLC ... wait ... they are the same textures! If you don't believe me, just look at all of the compares in this thread, which shows a clear difference between vanilla HRDLC and Shrines HD (look particularly at Akatosh). I am still not convince that even Shrines HD is right for Core.

SKYRIMLE Skyrim.exe - The Way It Should Have Been by Kahenraz
z929669 replied to Kahenraz's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I am not personally concerned about sharing source code (I won't ever look at it), but wanted to address due to concerns from others, particularly about the code that causes the antivirus warnings. If this has been tested enough and is truly an enhancement, I think that we can use it in STEP. I just need to try it our myself to see what it is all about first (splash screen is a bonus). -
I have been testing many ENBs lately (and I have a good deal of XP myself with config settings from versions out around a year ago ... polishing is a TON of work). I am exceedingly impressed by RealVision ENB (Option B - CoT/ELFX). It is very evolved, polished and consistent and ready to run right out of the box with almost no tweaking necessary IMO. It works really well with all of the ENB-supporting mods by JaWz, Aiyen and ?Prod80? (and others). EDIT: Per the OP, I will try to address ... 1. Dark Dungeons and Interiors. Torches are an absolute must unless there is a Skylight or a well lit room. Good interior lighting, definitely darker, but this is a very simple tweak if not dark enough (ambient lighting interior intensity/curve) 2. Dark nights that require torches and/or lanterns but not overly dark since there is moonlight. Definitely dark enough, but the CoT Weather Patch can be used to further customize ... Particle patch also helps) 3. DoF must be subtle/background, I don't like feeling like I'm looking through a spyglass at something. For me this is one thing Unreal got 100% right. Default DoF is subtle, but this is highly subjective. I demand 'subtle' too but will not do without DoF 4. Parallax must be enabled. I think it is, but not sure, since I don't use it ... yet. 5. CoT + Weather Patch / ELFX compatible (non-enhancer). thumbs up 6. I generally prefer muted colors and not over vibrant fantasy. So cinematic or photo realistic. Colors are a bit intense and could be muted a bit. Desaturation variables need just a bit of tweaking ideally 7. Must be actively updated to the latest binaries (with ENBoost). thumbs up AFAIK 8. Performance must be minimum 30 fps (for me). I realize that this is very rig dependent. Yep, should be for you since I generally get 30+ (see specs below) 9. No SSAO bugging (transparent first person or glowing first person)... I never EVER saw this effect in Unreal. Not to my knowledge (but I am not sure what to look for ... nothing strange in my case, and I play 1st person) 10. Word walls, night vision, and fade outs must work properly. (no inverted colors, etc) can't comment 11. I'm sure more will come up over time.... I have the same preferences for ENB as you do, apparently. (I hate letterbox though ... I want to see all I can). I will be making slight adjustments to this one if I continue using it, so I may just create a patch to align RV to our preferences (again, only very subtle changes needed, IMO). the bigest problem for weather-affected ENBs I have tried is that interiors are a mess, especially with regard to various weathers ... I chalk it up to too many configs to manage and tweak perfectly. Each and every relevant weather INI must be exhaustively tweaked just so (and the color filter system does not help simplify!!)

If people would quit posting like mad ... ... they might notice this post! I just finished some research on fSunUpdateThreshold & fSunUpdateTime, and the general consensus is that big numbers and small numbers are both bad. A happy medium has been suggested based on others' experiments (per my research). I will say that even with ENB, there is shadow 'wiggle' along straight edges at high noon on a clear day. If anyone has ever seen the cartoon Ed, Ed & Eddy, it is something like the wiggle of the characters' edges in that. Guide updated

azirok made a patch for Complete Crafting Overhaul (kryptopyr) ... kryptopyr also has several other mods that work in conjuction with CCO (WAF & CCF). Basically, these should all be used together with the requiem patches. I actually use much of kryptopyr's work with Requiem and fix most using load order changes.

Great tips and info. thanks!

Yes, we will definitely be recommending the memory patch once it is stable ... but we won't even need to recommend it if it is part of SKSE, since we already recommend that ;)

No that would be the other setting ... blur something ... EDIT: Set the following to 3 or higher to reduce blocky shadows (but shadows are fixed by ENB, and this should then be set to zero): iBlurDeferredShadowMask

Yes, the intensities for top, middle and horizon are a bit high ... however, the curve is a bit low for each IMHO. I think the sky should be blue when you can see it in the daytime under partly cloudy and clear weather, especially in cold climates (darker at top and fading to light ... as opposed to grayish/purplish/whitish as most ENB produce). Google "sky images" Also, skylighting is not enabled in your weather.ini's, so this is moot, no? I ultimately want to strip those weather INIs of any settings that don't affect weathers. So the answer is that the weather INI settings always override the enbseries.ini settings where they overlap?
-
We'll figure it out once we switch forums. Much reorg to be done for that, might as well not complicate it further :P
-
Actually, it is a much more scalable and professional solution. Also, it vastly simplifies forum management.

However, the MemPatch would allow users that can and want to, to still use all the same STEP mods but use the beefiest versions (higher resolutions, higher uGrids, etc). So it could still be helpful for a sort of "extreme" STEP install.Possibly, but I don't think that even beefy STEP produces CTDs or ILSs, and the memory patch will not improve performance really, it will just allow you to play where you could not previously (by preventing the most typical situation for CTDs and ILSs). ENBoost is more of a VRAM handler, but same generally applies to that (it is just more stable right now).
-
I expect to be moving over to IPB any day now (pending s4n's return), so this is all moot.
-
I agree. Dropped mods tend to segregate naturally to irrelevance. Also, there are ways to get a list of the STEP mods. I will post some links to the Main Page so that users can get (and even download) a complete mod list for STEP:Core and STEP:Extended.
-
Also, the MemPatch is not necessary for STEP, which should be stable. We do mention it though for users that want to use it. @Wolverine (glad you are back) OP updated to clarify DLC req.

Fixed the issues

Thanks! I see you also found the ones I changed earlier. The guide never looked better :DAgreed

Many thanks!

OK, so when is /enbseries.ini in effect under Skylight ENB ... never? Partially? I assume that every weatherID is handled by the CoT weather INIs. What I want to do is to make some edits to enbseries to change some of the lighting intensities (mainly SKY) and correct some of the red-shift color. The problem is that I don't want to have to edit 7 INI files if I don't have to. These INIs are presumably identical in may ways, and I want to keep thje gist of the weather settings with some minor color/lighting changes.
-
@Aiyen Can you tell me how the weather INIs work in the enbseries folder? /enbseries.ini has some impact, but it looks 100% redundant with all of the weather INIs under /enbseries/*.ini I notice that some of my changes to the former have an effect in game (I think ... ?), but I must switch off EnableMultipleWeathers=true to get them all. Which settings under the /enbseries/*.ini override /enbseries.ini? Surely, not all parameters under the weather INIs are needed (e.g., [GLOBAL], [EFFECT]) or are they? Are the baseline and weather configs additive or does one override the other? This is a configuration nightmare! EDIT: what is the "shaders window"? ... the enbbloom.fx 'tab'? I must say that I hat the in-game config menu behavior and would rather edit the *.fx and *.ini
