  1. I would really like it if a release was a release and then frozen. I don't understand the point of a version numbering system which has no meaning. There's no such thing as 2.2.6 because what you have installed depends on which day you followed the instructions, so why have releases at all? If I need to monitor the changelog regardless of whether a new release has come out or not, then why not just ditch the entire release system and introduce changes as and when? At the very least could you please, PLEASE, stick datestamps in the change log and put the latest changes at the top.
  2. Thanks, I updated the OP.
  3. Also, the instructions to create the TES5EDIT patch are dreadful, the thread below should be consulted for some idea of where to start in updating the wording https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=2522
  4. On that note, why does the baseline recommend the 1K version of such a rare item?
  5. Can you remove it from an active run without causing issues?
  6. I haven't compared the two sound-wise so couldn't say. But yeah, you basically install as loose and replace those files with yours, though as Immersive Thunder only has 4 files and CoT has 17 you'll need to make some copies.
  7. Not according to the author: There's a similar workaround for Immersive Thunder, except you have to rename files and make multiple copies, so I didn't bother posting it.
  8. There are a number of mods which do work with the sky effects and so I'm wondering which of the following work/break with CoT: Lightning During Thunderstorms (Minty Lightning) - Has a compatibility patch Rainbows - Unknown Shooting Stars - Unknown Skyrim Sunglare - Not compatible Can be solved by creating a climatesoftamriel sub-folder at the mod's lowest level and copying the files in there. It will then overwrite the CoT version in your install order (assuming you place CoT higher up) Immersive Thunder - Not compatible Rain sounds will still work Did I miss any? EDIT: Sounds of Skyrim - Has compatibility patches
  9. Ever since I applied STEP my books don't align with the screen. Been like this since 2.2.5. I tried removing the ini tweak for book interface alignment, but didn't change anything. Only happens for a few books.
  10. ENB causing what? If you mean the darkness at my end I don't use an ENB.
  11. I think that sounds about right, there's a lot of background for very little reason. It's important not to be afraid to bail on someone you find boring. Definitely going to check out those other mods you mentioned, thanks.
  12. They're from the Moorside Inn in Morthal, which RLO has done.
  13. As I said, those candles are out of shot. The reason I don't find it realistic is because an establishment like that would have added more light sources! Would the owner really sit in darkness? The vanilla lighting is more akin to what they felt their rendering budget could handle, while adding enough light to make it work as a playable space. I think it should be called Literal Lighting Overhaul, because realism would be someone adding more lights to the room following the change to the lighting model. Plus those windows aren't projecting any light at all. The biggest problem with lighting mods IMO is that no one but the player is impacted by them. You need to design entire AI systems around the levels of darkness these mods plunge you into. Let's check some shots The candles don't cast any light. Note the bottles between them in total darkness. They've kept the sunbeam, but this isn't represented by the lighting in the room which is clearly coming from the fireplace, otherwise the shadow on one side of the fireplace (and indeed that entire end of the room) would be lighter. It isn't. The exact same candle that wasn't casting any light in the main room is casting all the light in this room. Note how its buddy is casting zero light. A sideboard in the rentable room. This is literal lighting, not realistic, someone would put some damn light over here. I'm sure some people love this mod, I just want to highlight the flaws in advance of any "RLO for STEP!" movement.
  14. I feel I must be missing something in the love for this mod. I ran it alongside a core CoT install, but ths Moorside Inn in Morthall is just insanely dark. I can't see a reason to proceed any further using it when I'm going from: VANILLA: to RLO: The owner of the inn speaks to you from darkness, and the way to the rooms is not lit. It's realistic only in that it generates shadows based on shadow generating light sources supported by the engine, but candles which should generate light are not accounted for (the ones to the side out of shot are in darkness) nor are windows or the use of the room itself. It strikes me that vanilla feels more realistic.
  15. Discussion thread: Come together N Out of the way by Nausicaa Wiki Link Follower distance and bump sensitivity mod with configuration through MCM. Author of the Move it Dammit plugin, currently used by STEP, says that they have moved to this mod (post 5th June in their mods Nexus thread) Accepted for STEP:Core 2.2.9 - Replaces Move It Dammit
  16. Righty ho, time to report it to the author then. Thanks.
  17. Is the intention to bring this back into STEP? I wanted to give it a whirl, but there's a lot of mods and I have no idea which ones I'd need to drop and which ones have compatibility patches. Off the top of my head I think Sounds of Skyrim have compatibility patches, so does Minty Lightning, but I don't know which other mods are impacted.
  18. For some reason my maps look like this: I downloaded the mod again, same issue.
  19. I wish Bethesda would focus a little more on the NPCs. So many characters in the game tell you stories of their adventuring parties, but you can't do anything like that yourself because there's absolutely no depth to anyone in the world. I'd like a small number of potential followers, but who have a lot to say and grow me with over the course of our adventure. I'm hoping the super NPCs in Interesting NPCs are more like that.
  20. Always use application AA and AF over the GPU control panel. The application will apply AA and AF only to things which need it, leading to the best performance. The control panel will apply it to things which either shouldn't have it or don't need it and is really intended as a means just to force it for games which don't have in-game options for AA and AF.
  21. I'm loving this mod. The VO is definately variable, but the little stories behind each NPC are so well written. I'd love to see this writing team picked up by Bethesda, because they're sure as hell better than whoever is doing it now. Also, if you downloaded the 2.43.2 file via the torrent then you're missing a file and will find NPCs forget that they've spoken to you. The author provided the missing file to fix this: https://3dnpc.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/seq_file.zip
  22. Christ, if we're going to worry about realistic timescales then we need to increase the landmass size by about a thousand.
