Skyrim Revisited: Legendary Edition News
Pretendeavor replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
The history page has worked great for me so far.. the bigger updates often come with small notes. Neo mostly posts his reasoning behind the bigger updates here as well. I think having a separate change log or sub forum on top of that would only increase the workload with little to no real added value -
I played for about an hour or two, also purposely entering and leaving buildings often and moving from one big city to another. No crashes. Loading times felt faster and I even think overall performance increased slightly. I fear I might be biased though, since the whole thing got me a bit excited. I forgot to check skill lag however and already deleted the save because I chose this moment to do a lot of updating

Darth, I suggest you check out the updated Crash Fixes plugin with its alternative to SKSE's memory patch. To enable it, you need to set UseOSAllocators to 1 in CrashFixPlugin.ini (V10). You also need to install the two .dll files from SKSE Plugin Preloader in your Skyrim root folder. I've seen 2 comments about it also removing perk menu lag. I'm not sure if it's placebo and I don't have a save file atm that has that perk lag to check if it indeed disappears with this new fix. But I've seen you complaining about the lag :P Should be worth a try

Interesting.. I completely removed the [Memory] section in SKSE.ini and could load my game without getting an ILS with UseOSAllocators=1 and SKSE Plugin Preloader. I played for about 20 minutes and went to a couple of crowded places and didn't crash. Normally I need to set DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB to ~1000 to avoid ILS and crashing. Editing SKSE.ini isn't needed for this to work but I did it to convince myself :p Edit: tried playing with ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=false just for the heck of it, but Skyrim crashes once its memory limit is reached.. as expected of course, but hey it was worth a try. The cool part was that Crash Fixes notified me of this when it crashed. I also tried ExpandSystemMemoryX64=true and it didn't crash as it would combined with SKSE.ini's DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB>=768. I'm not exactly sure about the benefits of setting ExpandSystemMemoryX64 to true but so far it worked alongside UseOSAllocators=1. I just read a report on Reddit of someone saying ExpandSystemMemoryX64=true combined with this still causes crashes, which were fixed by setting it to false again.

Well that was a quick response. Will try it out, thanks! EDIT: Works like a charm, thank you again! -
pack A Real Explorer's Guide to Skyrim

I'm not sure anyone still reads this but I'm having a strange issue. The reason I post here is because I tracked it down to Interesting NPCs main plugin (3DNPC.esp) and because my mod list is loosely based on SR:LE + REGS, but tailored to my own liking. The issue is small, but I fear that its existence indicates that there is something bigger going on: Upon initiation of Carlotta Valentina's dialogue in Whiterun during daytime (when the shops are open) her greeting/opening line is "Yes, my love?" or another similar line, as if we're married. She also uses such lines as greetings when I'm standing near her. Thing is, I just started a new game and AFAIK she can't even be married. I have no mod that changes potential marriage partners. After she says this I just get her usual dialogue options, including her lines as a shopkeeper. Her 'parting' lines also seem to be just normal. I spoke with nearly every other NPC in Whiterun and no one else greets me like this. I checked her spells/active effects through MFG console and saw nothing out of the ordinary. Same for my player character. Looking at her NPC record in xEdit, there is nothing that conflicts. I then began systematically disabling plugins in batches and finally tracked it down to 3DNPC.esp. I'm using the v3.10 main file with the v3.18 update file. I already verified that it had nothing to do with the following plugins (that I considered potential culprits): Immersive Citizens and its patches, SRLE's or my own conflict resolution plugins, the 3DNPC EFF patch, or any other 3DNPC patches for that matter, just having 3DNPC.esp active seems to trigger this behaviour (probably in combination with something I've yet to figure out). My next step will be plowing through the 3DNPC plugin in xEdit in search of any oddities.. but the sheer size of the plugin intimidates me :( I also don't know where to start, the Dialogue Topic section? The Quest section? Google isn't my friend here either it seems. So my question is, does someone that has Interesting NPCs installed recognize this behaviour? With Carlotta or any other NPC? Or does anyone have an idea where to start searching in xEdit? Thanks in advance. Edit: Fixed, see DarkladyLexy's post. -
Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Mostly out of habit.. I tend to clean up the newly created folder by removing duplicate textures and usually removed those 'merge' folders too. Think I'll keep them from now on -

Perhaps he is referring to the 'merge' folder that gets created in the newly made folder by Merge Plugins? Did you remove this Darth? I usually remove this folder and also had your problem. But yeah you can indeed just add the DynDOLOD - Addons to the mod exclusion line in the ini. -
In SR:LE Neo says to select all plugins at once and then use Sort Masters. I usually do this too.. not sure if it makes any difference but it sure saves time :p

SRLE Extended String Count Testing
Pretendeavor replied to linar9415's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
Are people not getting overly worried about this string count now? If you have checked once and are around 50000 shouldn't you be just fine or does it oscillate with such an amplitude that you're still in the danger zone? -
SKYRIMLE Vivid Weathers - a complete Weather and Visual overhaul
Pretendeavor replied to Mangaclub's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
The volumetric fogs can indeed really eat your FPS in certain weathers I noticed.. During the installation there is an option to remove them (which actually replaces the meshes afaik). I thought it might be convenient to install those meshes as an optional mod in MO (and place it below Vivid Weathers ofc) so you can easily enable/disable them for gameplay/screenshot profiles or for testing purposes.. Just a small tip for anyone bothered by the fps drops -
FPS drop near Breezehome / Drunken Huntsman
Pretendeavor replied to Hackfield's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Perhaps it's just because I read about it being an issue and I never really looked at head to body ratios before.. I'm also not using a playable kids race. I should probably do some comparison shots to see if it's actually an issue but I'm very lazy when it comes to that =p -
FPS drop near Breezehome / Drunken Huntsman
Pretendeavor replied to Hackfield's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I've also decided to try that mod you mentioned Astakos, but even with the reduced head size option the heads of many kids seem too large. Did you solve this in some way or do you just deal with it? =p Or maybe it's just me and they aren't that much larger than before.. -

How to make Vivid Weathers compatible with your ENB
Pretendeavor replied to Mangaclub's topic in Post Processing
Very useful, thanks! I'm a little confused by step 4 though.. when you say "4. You will need to change the line IgnoreWeatherSystem=false to following sections of the enbseries.ini" I'm assuming you need to set this to 'true' for each of these sections? -

Yea, but have only seen them in a store at the Solitude Docks. Not sure if it's SR:LE that adds them, it's probably something REGS related in my case. I had to disable them too because they ate some FPS o.o -

That optional is probably included in 2.5 now. Part of the changelog: * Better LOD's for green pines * New texture for green pine needles Apparently he tweaked the green pines for Opethfield ENB 7 beta 3, let's just hope it'll also look good with Vividian :p -
Out of curiosity I also just disabled Burn Freeze Shock Effects on a relatively fresh save, ran save game script cleaner and afterwards my skill menu lag was nearly gone! It still drops to 50 fps for a second or two but at least not all the way down to 20 or less like it did before.. Now I wonder if it was just the accumulation of 'script lag' reaching a certain treshold that is causing the problem in the first place or if it was BFS specifically. Before disabling BFS I also disabled Footprints and checked the skill menu lag, but that did not seem to have a noticable effect. I'd be interested to know if there are others that experience major skill menu lag and if disabling just BFS fixes it for them! Edit: I should note that I'm using my own setup based on SR:LE and not SRLE Extended, but have many mods in common

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Does anyone else feel that 'mid range' trees (no LODs, but outside fShadowDistance range) are very bright since updating SFO from 2.3b to 2.4? Especially compared to their LODs.. I don't recall this being so noticable. I'm seeing this when walking around in the area outside Whiterun/Riverwood. Perhaps it's because I'm using Rampage ENB with Vivid Weathers but before I change anything I was wondering if someone else is experiencing this as well. -
I'd also be interested in the overall 'feel' of it compared to your 970!

Ohh this is so good! I'm using this but I had forgotten that it's compatible with Immersive Horses! I guess I can now finally call my horse using a 360 controller! *cheers* -
With updates like that (removal of a 'big' mod) Neo usually explains his choices in the Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback thread

I've had it for ages and still haven't been able to track it down to a single mod :P
