Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
Pretendeavor replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
Ah right. I think I missed a couple of recent CR updates. I should have checked this before posting, sorry. Not sure if what I said still applies, I kind of made some changes directly to my Immersive Citizens plugin. -
Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
Pretendeavor replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
So I just went to take a look at Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul in TES5Edit and am left wondering about a couple of things: - After setting the rule Load AFTER ELE_Legendary_Fs_Wt_Lite.esp LOOT also placed the esp after SR Conflict Resolution. Is this intended? For example in Faction -> 00032D9C DragonFaction, Immersive Citizens adds a couple of 'XNAM - Relation' records. It doesn't however include a XNAM - Relation record that SR Conflict resolution adds, namely "nDragonFaction "Dragons"" from DeadlyDragons.esp. (After a quick look at the Nexus description page it says that the plugin should be loaded after Deadly Dragons so I guess it's fine like this?) - It loads after RealisticWaterTwo so a couple of 'XCWT - Water' records aren't included. Not sure if this is a problem, see below. - I noticed the merged esp only carried over a few of the changes that ELE makes. I thought something went wrong during the merging process but I just looked at the original ELE Patch and there are indeed only a few CELL records changed. In MANY other cases the changes ELE makes are reverted to vanilla again by Immersive Citizens, most notably the 'XCLL - Lighting', 'LTMP - Lighting Template' and 'XCIM - Image Space' records. Do these records perhaps not count depending on what other changes the esp actually makes to the cells? I'm not sure why the ELE patch left so many things out but maybe I just don't know enough about TES5Edit and esp mechanics. It's supposed to be up to date with all ELE versions.. -

Yeah that's what it sounds like to me too. I just remembered the problem I had was indeed not a missing master but a issue with FormIDs in a patch for ETaC after ETaC updated. I think it had to do with RSchildren. Anyway, I found that out by disabling things 1 by 1 so I guess that's not what you want to hear... There are some PerMa+SRLE(+REGS) threads on these forums, if there isn't anyone else with these issues there I guess you could try starting with disabling mods that aren't included in any STEP packs? Or start with disabling only your custom patch. The last thing I can think of now is to verify you have the correct Java install and have your patchers set up properly in MO but I guess that's all fine since they seemed to work for you before. Sorry I can't be of more help, I know how frustrating these things can be lol -

Would you mind sharing the older version of the Riften NavFull patch? And about the master changing in WB I found this (from its advanced readme) : "Plugins' entries in the Masters List may be renamed to reflect name changes of the plugins themselves. Renaming can be done by left-clicking the plugin entry and editing in the column display, or right-clicking the plugin and selecting Change To... then selecting the replacement plugin. Do not use this to change a plugin's masters to unrelated plugins, as this will cause file corruption." If the records of the Riften part in the full DoS plugin are exactly the same as those of Dawn of Riften, shouldn't this work? I'll need someone to confirm this :P I think I tried this once with a conflict resolution patch after an ELE update where the name changed but the patched records stayed the same. I never actually tested if it worked correctly though, I just assumed it did. Also, about ETaC's incompatibility with Immersive Citizens, it's only incompatible with the following parts of ETaC assuming you use the NO INN version (as of now): ETaC - RiverwoodETaC - Dragon BridgeETaC - Dragon Bridge SouthImmersive WhiterunSo I guess you can use DoS and a modular installation of ETaC to avoid major incompatibilities. That leaves Nernies but I think I'm willing to try out Immersive Citizens now :p -

I think you're overestimating how Skyrim is supposed to look. I checked the flickering on woodposts, wood walkways and such myself a bit in whiterun when I last played and it happens a lot. You could try downsampling to 1440p and mess with the following settings: In enbseries.ini: SizeScale & SourceTexturesScale under both [REFLECTION] and [sSAO_SSIL]: try setting both to 0.5 EnableSupersampling under [REFLECTION] and [sSAO_SSIL]: disable both. You could disable exterior reflections with ExteriorEnable=false or disable them altogether. Set the [DEPTHOFFIELD] Quality to like 1. Check enbeffectprepass.fx(.ini) and look for DoF Quality or Quality; set to 2-3 if set higher. Set your shadow settings to medium/high instead of ultra in the skyrim inis. -

Doesn't that indicate a missing master? I've had the same problem (but with a very different setup) but I can't remember :/ It was something minor though. Did you try removing PerMa from the equation completely? (like, run ASIS enchant fix + DSR without Perma or its patches and see if it loads) I also assume you reinstalled the original USKP plugin after deleting the CELL records -

@cstarkey42 If you have switched to Dawn of Skyrim to try Immersive Citizens.. how did you deal with the 'REGS Patch - Riften NavFull'? It has JK's Skyrim as master. Is the patch only necessary for JK's Skyrim so it can be disabled with DoS? -
Edit 17-09-2015: As you have probably noticed, I'm not keeping this list up to date. As of now I'm kind of done modding Skyrim and I'm only changing minor things in my load order. My solution for this problem was to remove 'Immersive Whiterun' and its patches from ETaC, swap JK's Skyrim with Dawn of Skyrim and revert to an older REGS Patch - Riften Navfull (found on the REGS forum) that has Dawn of Riften as master instead of JK's Skyrim. I used Wrye Bash to change the master name from Dawn of Riften to Dawnofskyrim-allmajorcities.esp. I decided to keep ETaC's DB, DBS & Riverwood despite incompatibilities. It leads to some minor issues like NPC's in Riverwood trying to repair the air instead of their house, but I'm just rolling with that. Side note: For anyone struggling with performance using these two guides, consider removing DynDOLOD. Both a script-heavy ('Low' tweaked even lower) and a static LOD only profile (no Dyndolod.esp) proved too much for my setup so I simply use DynDOLOD Texgen + the tree LOD option from DynDOLOD Worlds only. I found that I preferred smooth gameplay over detailed distant terrain. The reason was probably that both these guides (+additional mods in my case!) simply add too many objects to the game. On the 'High' profile I had over 8000 dynamic objects in Tamriel, while according to Sheson "there are typically around 4000 dynamic objects in Tamriel for high". Recently, SR:LE updated to include the popular mod Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul. For those running a setup that also includes REGS (Real Explorer's Guide to Skyrim), this means you should probably wait before adding this, because the author of IC explicitly states the mod is incompatible with JK's Skyrim and ETaC. I created this topic to list incompatibilities and to track progress on patches. Current known incompatibilities: - JK's Skyrim The author states: So yeah, not sure if we should expect a patch for this, probably not. To avoid this you could use Dawn of Skyrim instead and make sure IC loads after it. You will have to disable the REGS Patch Riften NavFull as it has JK's Skyrim Major Cities as master file. (or happen to have an older file that was based on Dawn of Riften) - Expanded Towns and Cities The author said he will try to make a patch for this but success isn't guaranteed. A workaround would be to do to a modular install of ETaC as IC is as of now only incompatible with the following parts assuming you use the NO-INN version as recommended by REGS: ETaC - Riverwood ETaC - Dragon Bridge ETaC - Dragon Bridge South Immersive Whiterun You will also have to disable the Whiterun Exterior ELFX + CRF patches. Not sure how this works with the installation of the other patches, I guess the modular ETaC installer will provide answers for that. - Immersive Settlements Nowadays included in ETaC. Listed as a separate mod though in his article about compatibility. Not sure if we can assume a future patch for ETaC will also mean it's a patch for Immersive Settlements. Also not sure if it's indeed only Immersive Whiterun that's incompatible.. - Immersive College of Winterhold (??) A Nexus user reports problems (crashes). Not 100% sure if it is directly related to this mod. The article mentions this though, and recommends loading IC after Immersive College of Winterhold. - Nernies City and Village Expansion Listed as incompatible in the article. No news about any patches whatsoever. REGS also uses their own version of this mod, so patching will probably need to be done by CJ, who doesn't seem to be able to work on his guide very much anymore I've read in the REGS topic. --- The next part is kind of a note-to-self, but might be useful for others using these mods. Incompatibilities include, but are not limited to those listed here. Check this for more info --- Other compatibilities not related to any of the STEP packs: - Skyrim Radioactive This is too bad. Recent versions of this mod have a lot of issues but I'm using an older version and I really love it. The problem is that it introduces deleted navmeshes that as far as I understand can not be fixed by IC. The Useless Shop and Interior Overhaul has similar problems. Other non-STEP related mods it should load after to be compatible: - Elysium Estate - Hidden Hideouts of Skyrim - Skyrim Better Roads --- If you know of any mod included in REGS that isn't listed here or know more about patches or the patching process, feel free to leave a comment.

Need good advice on upgrading my PC
Pretendeavor replied to FuzzRocket9's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Getting Skyrim to run at 60 FPS (consistently) with a decent ENB and a lot of mods is really tough, even with high specs. Just don't expect too much! Getting 40-50 FPS in exteriors and 60 in interiors is probably more realistic. Although it really depends on the quality of your ENB/mods. FPS drops in towns are still common as long as ENBoost needs to swap memory to avoid reaching Skyrim's memory cap. It probably doesn't matter what rig you have, if you use too many textures FPS drops will happen. Above recommendations sound good. About the power supply, I'd like to note that I have a 630W one (with ~88% efficiency) and have not run into any trouble yet with the setup shown in my signature. If you want to be able to run the latest games nicely, I would recommend one of the 900 series cards if you're going for nVidia. Just don't buy unoptimized stuff like AC Unity (might be been patched by now), Watch Dogs or Arkham Knight (is that one even for sale anymore? lol). I'd look at other places on the internet to find out how your future rig will handle modern optimized games like GTA V and The Witcher 3. I think that will give a decent indication of how strong and how future proof it will be. -

Pretendeavor replied to TirigonX's question in Post-Processing Support
Maybe you're expecting too much.. I'm not sure. I recognize it but it seems more extreme than I can remember. A lot of people swear by SMAA but I actually dislike it because imo the performance hit (when set to über) isn't worth using it over subpixel+edge AA imo. It also completely ruins my font :/ Perhaps it differs between enb presets. I usually dislike extreme amounts of sharpening (K enb-esque sharpening with SweetFX Lumasharpen and negative lod bias) for normal gameplay so you might want to check that out for your preset. I guess you could try downsampling if that is an option with your graphics card or see if changing the option FixAliasedTextures makes any difference. ENB's temporal AA has pretty good results too but creates artifacts when moving and is really performance heavy. -

@Yippee The guide is already up to date. You only need to do that workaround before you run SUM. -
To test this, disable vsync in your driver settings, ENB (enblocal.ini) and Skyrim.ini (iPresentInterval=0) and see if the FPS drop is still that huge. When doing this you might want to set a FPS limiter to 60 in either enblocal.ini on your driver settings to prevent Skyrim from going over 60fps, because strange things can happen if it does. You could also try fullscreen instead of borderless, but I'm not sure if that should make any difference.
-
Perhaps vsync deciding it cannot handle 60 fps and thus going for 30?

Alienware Alpha on a modded Skyrim setup
Pretendeavor replied to FuzzRocket9's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I've never had anything from Alienware, but I'd say this looks sub par. If you buy this you shouldn't expect to be able to run heavily modded setups very well I'd say.. GPU isn't all that matters, Skyrim also relies on CPU and even RAM power. The processor is just.. decent. Not sure how it will handle Skyrim. I'd say DDR3 1600 RAM at CAS 11 is also sub-par. The performance difference between memory timings most likely isn't that huge but 1600/9 is pretty much the standard and not that expensive. About the graphics card.. again it seems just decent for a laptop card, but the 2GB VRAM and the 128 Bit Memory Bus Width will most likely cripple your performance if you start using a lot of texture replacers. I wouldn't buy it myself, but that might be because I'm prepared to pay more. I'm not sure about the quality vs price ratio of this deal (you could probably find a site and 'build' a similar system.. then compare prices) and whether or not you will be satisfied by its performance will likely also depend on your current setup. So yeah, browse the internet a bit and compare prices or try to collect some Skyrim benchmark data from people with similar setups before deciding to buy this I'd say. Don't do it if your only reason is "it's Alienware so it must be good" :p -

Unofficial patches 2.1.1 needed
Pretendeavor replied to Yippee38's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
For anyone interested, a temporary workaround seems to be deleting the whole CELL record from the Unofficial Skyrim Patch before running the SkyProc patchers, and after the patches are made reinstall the original USKP esp to restore the deleted records. Basically the patchers cannot handle the size of the ONAM record in the new version of the USKP esp and deleting the CELL records fixes this temporarily. As SkyProc patchers supposedly don't process CELL records you don't miss out on anything as long as you make sure you install the original esp again. I gathered this from the posts on the USKP Nexus page, more details can be found there. Of course this is only for those who are too impatient to wait for a fix. The current maintainer of SkyProc seems to be away for a couple of days (also judging from the posts at the Nexus) but knows about the situation and the creator of Requiem has indeed already found an "experimental hotfix" for their patcher and it seems to work. -

Ah hmm I hadn't looked at that yet. I think I'll actually keep the files from the EFF Compatibility Patch. Not sure how those patches work but I'd rather have a patch for EFF + CH (and thus all followers) than just for Arissa. -
Arissa the wandring rogue and Skyrim Revisited
Pretendeavor replied to Razorsedge877's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
I have, and the only oddity that occured so far is with NPC Knockout Overhaul. Once she enters the bleedout/knockout stage she sometimes doesn't 'revive' or stays in the crawling state for a long time. This happens with both the 'NPC Follower KO' option checked and unchecked. When this happens it's impossible to talk to her (the NPC KO overhaul prompt that allows you to search/grab/revive doesn't show up). It doesn't always happen though and sometimes when I left her in that state she would magically reappear upon entering an inn a while later. I have not found a solution yet. Also, the EFF 'wheel' doesn't work with her, you will need to use the traditional dialogue options to talk/trade with her. iNeed works well, but you need to manage her food through the 'Let's manage your equipment' dialogue option, not the 'I need to trade things with you' option. The only exception there is the 'Followers purchase food' option from iNeed. This requires you to give money to your follower, but as Arissa won't take my money I get a message from iNeed every 10 seconds or so saying 'Your follower complains about the lack of money to buy food with' (or something similar). So yeah, basically don't use the Followers purchase food option from iNeed and you will need to experiment a bit with NPC Knockout Overhaul to see what works for you. -
[enbboost] Question about setting ini
Pretendeavor replied to jyujinkai's question in General Skyrim LE Support
The reason for the semi-confusing instructions is probably because no one is really 100% sure what values you're supposed to put in there:p That plus it really varies between PC/mod setups. I think most of the instructions come from either Boris' documentation or from things he says on his forums and part of it might or might not be slightly outdated info. I feel it can sometimes be.. challenging to figure out what value does what exactly (because of the language and/or knowledge barrier between the creator of ENB and us users). I'd indeed start with VideoMemorySizeMb=3899 and if you experience stuttering first try increasing or decreasing ReservedMemorySizeMB. If you still can't get rid of stutters, you can try lowering VideoMemorySizeMB to 1878 and see if it makes any difference. However I've heard others say that basing your VideoMemorySizeMB on your dedicated video memory instead of your total available graphics memory and perceiving an increase in performance might be a placebo effect. So yeah, short answer is to just set it at 3899. I've had it set at 7708 and 3926 and it worked just fine (at least I think it did. It didn't crash and ENB's built-in profiler indeed showed those values. I don't fully understand how to interpret the rest of the profiler's info however x] ) -

@thorgal Anywhere :p I doesn't overwrite any files. As for the load order, it doesn't really matter where you put it, just let LOOT handle it. I believe it only overwrites records from Skyrim.esm and Dawnguard.esm anyway. I've been playing with the mod for a while and while the new music is very refreshing, some of its tracks feel a little out of place.. (well duh, some tracks are from The Witcher) I also have a bit trouble setting the Music Volume at such a level that it is audible as background music, but not too overwhelming during combat. Other than that it's a great addition imo :) -

Pretendeavor replied to cardinalix's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
NPC Knockout Overhaul also doesn't seem to play very well with follower mods like Arissa, whether the No Follower KO option is checked or not. Or this might be another problem on my end. Do you happen to have installed any follower mods like that? (Sofia, Arissa, Inigo.. etc) -
About the particle and subsurface scattering patches, I assume you followed the SR:LE guide? If so, they are installed as a part of Vividian ENB (under Vividian - Weather - Lighting Enhancement, expand the FOMOD options and you will see). I have not tried RealVision myself but did use a couple of other ENBs. A lot of presets link Mindflux' Subsurface Scattering and Particle patches as optional files and if you disable Vividian's files in MO I highly recommend installing them in a separate directory and placing them near Vividian's files in MO's left pane. This is because some of its files get overwritten by other mods in SR:LE, so you want to keep that in the same order as Neovalen intended. About weather mods, I still kept CoT when trying out other ENBs. The main problem with switching is that Vividian comes with many patches and enhancements out of the box and most others presets don't. A quote from the guide: As you can see, with Vividian you have installed a 'CoT weather patch'. I think this one is based on this weather patch, but tailored for Vividian ENB. I highly recommend you install this original CoT weather patch if you decide to disable Vividian and its files. As an example of what this patch fixes: all of the presets I tried after disabling Vividian made it so that during some bright (CoT) weathers every snowy area was waaay too bright. The CoT weather patch fixed this. I do recommend to keep Vivid Clouds and Fogs with the Extended Weathers plugin though. If you look through TES5Edit you will notice that 'Vividian ENB - Extended Weathers' overwrites some of the CoT Weatherpatch, but you will also see that the Vividian ENB - Extended Weathers esp already contains many of the changes from the Weather Patch. If you opt to install True Storms, which I just noticed is listed as a recommendation in RealVision's description, beware that it may need manual patching when combined with Vividian ENB Extended Weathers. Another possible recommendation would be Natural Lighting and Atmospherics for ENB. This seems to be a popular ENB aimed at realism and some other presets use it as a base. It comes with its own esp, so I don't know how well that works with CoT and Vividian's extended weathers. Personally I never used it because I prefer more fantasy based ENBs like the Grim and Somber ENBs. They don't officially support CoT or any other weather mods for that matter, but look pretty good with it nonetheless.
