  1. got it, slight path error!
  2. I can't seem to be able to merge the mods. Maybe someone can help me here? I follow the instructions up to that part: There, I get the pop-up, then it crashes. My input folder has: modALL, modBlood, etc. I have configured everything as the guide says in ModKitchen, I left everything else to default: -texture format: TGA. -Skip errors: checked. -Dump redswf files: unchecked. I have Windows 10, latest updates installed. .Net 4.5 is installed (tried reinstalling it, it says it's integrated into the OS, so I know it's there). The first part of the guide says: " Select the x64 folder inside <The Witcher 3 Modkit>/bin and click [OK]."So I selected ...\Witcher 3 mod tools\Bin The other one is identical. I tired running ModKitchen as admin and disabling anti-virus+firewall, no change. I always get the following message:
  3. would it be a lot of trouble for you guys to seperate these mods, i.e., each with their own Nexus page? It would be a little easier to track changes and a little less confusing for non technical newbies (I was ok, but trying to help other people, especially those without a solid grasp of english has sometimes revealed problematic)
  4. yes, that and Immersive Creatures, I remember the site's layout :) Thank you very much :)
  5. I'm searching for a mod. I know it exists, I had it in my bookmarks once, never played with it though. This mod had 2 files, one for all encounters (bandits, etc) and another for all non sentient creatures. It basically uncapped the level of the creatures and added more dangerous creatures to the realm of Skyrim, so that when you reach level 50-60, trolls, giants, bears, etc are still dangerous and there are other critters too in the second file. I just can't remember the name, and now I want to try it... I thought it was called "Dangerous creatures" but that's not the one I'm searching for Anyone knows what I'm talking about?
  6. *deleted, sorry*
  7. hey, thank you very much! I did not know that, and wouldn't know how to check for conflicts anyway :) I'll delete it for my next playthrough, soon, I hope :)
  8. I have 1 for both values I have 1 for both values, but you must have figured it out since then...
  9. I think they have plans for the 2.3 version where STEP Core mods will be listed first, than all of the STEP Extended mods. This would be a lot less confusing for newcommers, especially ones who may have some difficulties with english. Also, maybe more notes on mods that could be incompatible with non english Skyrim (I see one, but I just realized that people who don't play english Skyrim are afraid that the mods would mess their experience) (this would likely require more feedback from non english Skyrim users though).

It really seems the possibilities of this engine are limitless.
  11. It was called "Step patch" previously, they had seperate patches for Core and Extended. I haven't re-read all the instructions, but it is possible there have been leftovers of the previous names. Anyway, all you have to do is follow the guide from Step 1 to Step 2.O and you should be allright. I know it is confusing for a new non-modder user, but they've done a good job of clarifying most aspect of the guide over time. It takes time, trial and errors, but it's rewarding.
  12. *fixed my problem.
  13. I have one quick question for those who installed it. In the file description on Nexus, it says there's no dirty edit it has already been cleaned and LOOT will report it as such. However, LOOT gives me an error, saying there's one ITM. Do I clean it anyway, or do I ignore the message completely? I wonder if it's the same itm record mentionned in the description of something else...
  14. Yes, it's about right. But your forget a few steps, as outlined in the guide. after #7, before #8.
  15. My advice is to first follow the STEP guide, make sure everything is working allright, start your game just past the intro, once you're out of the cave, on a hill. Save there, keep this save. Then go and install Vividian following their instructions. Load your save, see if it works for you, by walking around. If it doesn't, exit, disable SLI, restart Skyrim and reload your clean save game. Check the colors of the environment, the colors of your clothe, etc, make sure it's all to your liking, then play, or add some other mods. One non graphic mod I really like is: Functional homes. Does not fall into STEP mandate, but worth it, I think, as it links some containers from your various homes (if you have a home in Solitude and one in Riften, containers from both are linked). There are other mods too, that you could try, but it takes time, wich you don't have.
  16. I don't think you can reduce the needed time to do the STEP guide. It takes a lot of time to download stuff, and some mods take some time to install, even on higher rigs. I'll just give you a tip, totally free. Do it one step at a time. Use Mod Organnizer and download the mods from one section at a time. Do the basic steps, up to 2.C, then take a break, come back to it another day. Then do this section (2.C), then go to the next and just download (with MO) all the files, one after the other. Then as they download, install the first one following the instructions, and so on. Go to to 2.E, download them all, install them one at a time. When you're bored of doing it, go play some other game. Oh, forget about DDSOPT, as the guide suggests, just install the optimized textures and you're fine. It'll save you some time. Short of taking control of your computer at a distance to do it for you, there's not much any one can do. Most of the instructions are clearer, now, I think. Just remember that on some mods, when there are more than one file to install, use the "Merge" function in MO, even if it's not told explicitely (say for the aMidian book of silence mods). EDIT: Generally speaking, unless otherwise noted, 1 entry in the guide = 1 mod, so you merge them. And Dyndolod is a little complicated, but see this post and the advice I was given.
  17. dammit! It's alive! I mean, it's working!!! Finally! May I suggest that whoever is able to edit the wiki makes a small change to clarify things like you did on that section? Thank you very much Greg.
  18. sorta solved the problem :) ALT+F4 does not produce CTD when quitting. Exiting through the menu does. Might be related to SKSE ALT+F4 mod. Aside that, up to past the intro the game works fine. Will have to see about making Dyndolod working now. Thank you for your help :) and after playing a few hours, it totally disapeared, no matter wich method I use to exit :)
  19. ok, I'll try that, thank you very much :)
  20. Well, I didn't go further since I was trying to test my mods if any would cause problems, particularly dyndolod. I'll try getting further.
  21. I still haven't fixed my Dyndolod problem, but I managed to start the game with all STEP mods + a few others (see log below) when I don't use Dyndolod, trying to diagnose my problem. No one seems to be able to help me with my other problem, but maybe I'll have better luck with this one. Basically, 100% of the time I launch the game, when I quit during the intro sequence, I get a CTD. It's bothering, but not critical. There was one mod that required cleaning, DragonFallsmanor, wich I did. Other non STEP mod did not require cleaning. I followed the instructions of the guide to the letter, I think... But I must have missed something (though I'm pretty sure I did not, I followed the instructions at the end to make sure no unwanted plugin was enabled), or one my supplemental mod is conflicting, but how do I find it? Short of testing each one at a time, that is. Here are the last lines of the log, with the error: Here is the full log:
  22. Hi, Got a small problem. I'm doing something wrong, not sure what. I followed all of the STEP guide, as I did last year, but i can't get my game to work. I got it working once, but I had an error message. I changed something, it seemed to work, before I added some other mods, since then I've deleted some, added some more, redid the last section of the guide (2.N). If I remove the Dyndolod mods and stop at "Fores New Idles in Skyrim", it works fine, I can start a new game. If I try next to follow the instructions for Dyndolod, my game will start loading (a New game) but it will get stuck in the black loading screen forever. I think I am getting confused with the last steps, the second time I run TES5Edit. Right there: "Copy the output folder to the mods folder inside Mod Organizer. Make sure that nothing overwrites this mod in MO.". Let's say my output folder is C:\TES5LODGenOutput\ and my mod folder is D:\Program...\Steam\...\Skyrim Mods. Am I to copy TES5LODGenOutput in Skyrim Mods so that I now have a folder ...\Skyrim Mods\TES5LODGenOutput ? EDIT: Not working. Or I get the individual directory of the output folder directly in ...\Skyrim mods (meshes, textures, etc.) ? Or somewhere else like STEP LOD Textures created when I installed the archive in the first part of the instructions? EDIT: Not working. EDIT: I started from a fresh, clean install of Skyrim and re-did all of the current STEP Guide procedures. *** First part of loadorder.txt, STEP Extended mods # This file was automatically generated by Mod Organizer. *** The last part of my loadorder.txt: (supplemental mods and STEP extended patches)
  23. Also, for post transfer needs: -Steam Mover. It will let you move your games (and mods, if they are in Steam Apps directory) effortlessly back&forth between the HDD and the SSD (free) - Application mover. It costs 15$ but imho it's worth it. Will let you move all kind of applications between your hard drive and SSD. I use Steam Mover for Steam's games and this one for EA games and I quite like it.
  24. Hi, I have tried many things that did not work, so in the end, I paid 20$ for this software: Paragon migrate OS to SSD It works flawlessly, no need to do anything on your part, it's totally safe, though I'd still recommend a backup (for this, a free Clonezilla would do the job perfectly). If you use CLonezilla, you might have to edit the Windows boot record to make it work. It's quite a hassle imho, and you might lose everything in the attempt. And the free Partition Wizard, in case you still need to manually set the SSD partition to "Active". Full step: - Use clonezilla to make a backup of your current hard drive on a USB drive - Use Partition Wizard to create a second partition out of the free space of your HDD - Move all your data from the main HDD partition to the new one, resize the partitions as needed with Partition Wizard - Shrink your partition to below the SSD's size with Partition Wizard - Launch Paragon Migrate OS to SSD, make the transfer - Shut down computer, disconnect the HDD, remove all USB keys/drives, reboot. - If it doesn't work, reboot on your HDD and use Partition Wizard to set your SSD partition to "active" - Than reboot on your SSD - Once you are sure everything is working ok, use Partition Wizard to delete the main HDD partition and re-create a new one. - Expand the secondary partition where your date is to fill the whole disk - If you want other partitions on your HDD, you can create them now, otherwise, leave it as it is - You are done and your computer should boot in 10 seconds or less :)
