  1. @Kelmych I noticed something small today when rebuilding my setup on a new machine. Your Fallout3_INIs sub guide initial steps section states the first step uses fINIp 3 which has since been replaced by BethINI. All the BethINI section immediately following is correct but that little piece of the intro can be confusing of you are new to the guide and don't know the relationship between the two. Thanks again for an awesome guide!
  2. UHQ Terrain Overhaul has been removed from Nexus.
  3. The links to the LOOT userlist.yaml are invalid. I'm getting dropbox 404 errors. Is this file still being provided? If so, is it elsewhere? Either the link needs updating, or the guide does. (Plus I could really use that file....) Also, I've seen an occasional comment about how that page is a wiki that anyone can edit. It feels wrong to me to mess with the content in a substantial way but, for tiny things like spelling errors, would it be helpful if I just fix them rather than come and take 19 times as long to make a post about changing one character? What's the protocol?
  4. Why is it that when you finally breakdown and ask for help you find the answer like 5 minutes later? Its like looking for the car keys!! I can't seem to delete my post so I'll post the answer. Evidently I clicked the drop down under the left pan to group by Nexus IDs. Not sure how in the heck those 24 would be considered to have the same Nexus ID so I'll be looking into that but things are back to normal now that I selected No Groups instead. The 256th mod was a red herring... Sorry to waste your time.
  5. So I was merrily modding along using the Clear and Present Danger guide and I added my 256th mod. Not plug in, mod. Its my understanding that MO can handle any number of mods in its pool of available mods, only the game has the actual limit on how many esp/esms are used. Suddenly my left pane re-sorts itself and I have several mostly unrelated mods grouped together in a subfolder fashion. The top level of each group is greyed out and italicized. I can't drag the mods out. Clicking on the priority column does not put them into priority order. There's about a dozen of these expandable groupings. One of them has taken 24 various mods that have seemingly no relation including a couple of my profile specific bashed patches and grouped them under the heading of Anchorage Retexture. A couple of the groupings kinda make sense like the three mods from Paradox Ignition are all grouped together under Martigen's Mutant Mod even though the three are completely independent and unrelated mods. My searching hasn't turned up anything. What did I do? And more importantly how do I undo it?
  6. UF3P - Exotic Caravans was updated recently. Per the author - Project Beauty changes are now part of all .esm files (mod still not need, but recommended). This invalidates the installation instructions as written in the guide as there is no longer a UF3P - Exotic Caravans (Project Beauty).esm.
  7. There doesn't seem to be any relation to location. I've been in the Wasteland open world and in Vault 87 and in Raven Rock. It doesn't seem to matter which perk or what points I alloted prior to picking the perk though I certainly didn't try them all. I didn't add any mods that affect perks because I wanted to do my first playthrough with the "original" content, just better looking. I considered it being a UI problem sine its not actually the perk pick but the clicking of Done on the perk window but it also freezes when I type A. Does the game consider that the exact equivalent? I am using DarnUI, aHUD and iHUD along with UIO. As I said, I was curious if it was something wrong with the save history itself since I did so much mid game modding and the problem only started a few levels ago, shortly after my latest round of "must have more pretty graphics!". The only consistency is that on the save with the issue if I disable only the bashed patch and try to select the perk I can select it fine. I tried it on a NewStart save that I have and that character selected a perk just fine with the identical profile and the bashed patch enabled. So that leans me toward the issue being something fubared in the save file itself that doesn't get along with the bashed patch but since I'm newish to this I didn't know if that was a reasonable speculation or where to look next. Having just finished the MQ line from Vanilla I'm considering just starting over with the "fully" modded profile and NOT messing with it in the middle this time, partly cause its a pain in the ass to turn off the bashed patch every time I level and partly cause the geek in me is just too curious to test my theory that its the save. If you have any other thoughts, suggestions or things I can look at, I'm always anxious to learn.
  8. Hello! Up front please let me say thank you to Kelmych for the amazing amount of work in this guide. I am a latecomer to Fallout and to be honest I probably wouldn't have become so in love with it if I hadn't dove in with this guide. I'm having an issue I can't get to the bottom of on my own. I have an otherwise stable (well stable for FO3 in Win 7) setup until I level up. When I pick a new perk on level up the game freezes when I click Done or hit A. Through trial and error I discovered that if I save right before level up and load my MO profile sans Bashed Patch, I can pick my perk just fine. Info that might be useful: 1. I followed most of the guide up to through the first body mods in section 20. I skipped FWE and related items as well as all the addin quests mods in section 18 except Reilly. 2. I played with that setup with no bashed patch til somewhere around level 15. (cause frankly I got excited to play and it was working and I forgot to jump to the post install bottom) 3. I decided I needed more "pretty" and more immersion so I did a lot of picking and choosing through the subsequent sections particularly armor/body/animation mods, hi-res graphics, as well as adding in Crowded Cities, Expanded Caravans and finally got around to patches and the Bashed Patch. I didn't do any of the weapon updates. 4. The level up issue started somewhere thereafter. (big shock) On a whim, I also loaded a New Start Save (just before Vault 101 exit) with the exact same MO profile and she can pick a perk at level 2 with no problem. <sigh> So.....what next? Is it somehow related to her higher levels? Or some conflict that's not apparent because the newbie hasn't come across that content yet? Or is there just a bunch of wonky history in my character save because of all the mid play tweaking I've done? What, if anything, do I need to provide to help others help me learn to help myself?
  9. I have a question about REGS. I am currently trying to create a REGS profile having started with STEP Extended. The REGS guide says you can install either the modular or complete version of ETaC but Mod Organizer is telling me that the REGS patch is missing master ETaC - Complete.esp which, best I can tell, only exists in the ETaC Complete version. So ....did I miss a step somewhere? Or is the guide incorrect?
  10. WAF was updated and remade on 19 June and the Detailed Installation Guide is no longer valid due the patches no longer being independent or available so that will need to be updated. I haven't learned how to do all that fancy file compare and looking in esp stuff you smart people do. However, I can read a Read Me and look at a Filetree in MO. The GDO patch is no longer required per the author. The ICF Legendary.esp is now included with WAF Remade download so I'm not sure how to honor the "don't enable until installing ICF" nor can I move it in the Load Order independently (though I'm not sure if that's still even necessary now). Is this the right place to report this kind of stuff so it can be reviewed and fixed in the guide?
  11. I really hope I'm not embarrassing myself with my first ever created topic. I really did try searching for answers. I'm new to STEP and actually Skryim as well. Yes I'm late to the party. My son just gave me a Legendary disc as a present. I want the best start I can. I found one guide that states that Mod Organizer should be installed to Steam Apps/common/Skyrim. I found another that states that its also valid to do it somewhere else (like D:GamesMod Organizer). It would seem its a personal choice matter but I feel underinformed to make that choice. Is there a benefit to one location over the other? My instinct says there's not since its a virtualized system anyway. But my obsession with following the rules and instructions says well, if both are valid why didn't they say that in the first guide? My husband says I'm overthinking it...like everything else. So which should I do?
  12. So this is really minor in the scheme of things but what happened to the Compact check box on the downloads tab? Please tell me that feature isn't going away.
  13. I'm having the exact same problem. It started last night about 10 PM MST. I know that so specifically because I had been working on installing STEP all afternoon before that without issue. The one difference I have is that every once in a while instead of "Server Reported:" it actually tells me my password is incorrect. I get identical behavior when I tell MO to not log in automatically. When you manually install you can save it in Mod Organizer/downloads (which is where MO would have put it anyway) . It will appear in the Downloads list in MO with a Caution symbol. Then just right click and Query Info and proceed as normal. Its a few more mouse clicks but the net result is the same.
