Could someone create these mod threads please? Relighting Skyrim is too bright for my tastes but the other too are pretty good. -

I've stayed away from editing anything on the STEP Guide. That's the admins domain. Lol! -

I didn't see one either. Just thought I'd help the guy out. :) -
When I refer to official I refer to the drivers you are presented with when using their "driver lookup" form. You are not presented with Beta drivers unless you specifically search them out. They are not provided by default on the main driver pages. And WHQL certificates are Microsoft...drivers are signed by Microsoft as being compatible...lots of testing is done...it takes time...yada yada. I know all this. We techs tend to have rather strong opinions. Agree to disagree?
-
There are a few reasons for releasing beta drivers: a) Testing for WHQL certifications takes a while. b) It's not worth releasing a whole new driver for everyone with hotfixes for one game. c) New features/bug fixes are being tested this way on wider audience. Neither Nvidia nor AMD intentionally release buggy drivers. Often beta drivers fix issues that occurred in the new WHQL release. This driver is no different to the last beta, hence no number change. Over the period of a month 4 betas were released. A change here, a tweak there, a fix applied... I would much rather wait a month to a month and a half to have the final, stable release rather than updating the beta 4-6 times to a month. That's not the best way for everyone, though. Say you wanted to play Far Cry 3 at acceptable framerates on release, you needed to use the beta drivers. Same with SLI/Crossfire compatibility, or new methods of supported AA. I hardly ever have any driver related issues on my system and I update to every single new releases (unless something is notoriously buggy). BTW, I can confirm that these are the same drivers that were released 14 days ago as WHQL and then later renamed to WHQL-candidates. So beta drivers as such. :P That's true but I'm not looking at other games when referring to the STEP guide recommending beta drivers. Just Skyrim as STEP is just for Skyrim. Thus, this is just my opinion, but I don't think STEP should be recommending driver updates that aren't official releases. Prime example is above when Haelfix stated his issues with the beta; regardless if the issue was driver or ENB related. STEP, IMO, should only be recommending polished, finished products. Just all my personal opinion. I have no influence in this area. Haha!

Let's not do this anymore.  Not that I don't trust you, but there are some more nefarious out there and The Nexus is (usually) pretty stable. No problem; no ugly spyware/viruses on my system! :D However, if you guys don't want files attached from users personal systems that option should probably be removed from the forums. -

It looks like Nexus is just having a few issues at the moment. They're usually fixed within a few minutes so please wait 5 -10min and try again. -
I'm downloading them now and will post any issues that I find. The release notes state that 680s should get a small performance boost. :) I never used the beta driver so I can't say anything about that. But I don't think STEP should be recommending people to download the Beta drivers like they do in the guide. They are Beta for a reason and usually have some issues to be worked out.

310.70 drivers have been released for nVidia users. These are the official drivers. Not beta. Cheers!

[q] small snowy rock/dirt/ice texture - [SOLVED]
TechAngel85 replied to haelfix's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I don't have a strictly vanilla STEP install currently; however, when I did I never noticed that issue. I don't use CoT as I find RCRN to be a much better product for my liking. It sounds like you've narrowed it down to a CoT issue. I'd contact that author and see if he can look into it. Currently, I'm running STEP install with RCRN rather than CoT using SkyRealism ENB with Cinematic preset. I have no issues. EDIT: For reference sake, here are a couple shots at night with full moon showing no issue. -
[q] small snowy rock/dirt/ice texture - [SOLVED]
TechAngel85 replied to haelfix's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Yea, so I have isolated it. Straight forward STEP install via the guide, all the way to 3.10 climates of Tamriel + dawnguard where I pick a vanilla nights package (unlike STEP recommendation). That's the culprit, and it only shows up afaics at night during certain weather systems at eg bleak fall barrows. I have dynamic snow installed, and it still shows up. I'm not quite sure how to proceed in getting rid of it. ENB or no ENB (project ENB for COT), its still there. So disabling the CoT - VanillaNights.esp file fixes the issue? Negative, i've tried all 4 variants as well as simply not selecting any. The only way the problem goes away is if I disable COT entirely. For reference, the picture at the bottom of the following link is what it looks like (only even more visible at night). It's some sort of illumination problem on that particular rock. https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/686605-project-reality-climates-of-tamriel/page__st__1930 As I stated before, these look like ice textures to me. Please try reinstalling your ice textures and if you're using That's Ice, be sure to use the White option. -

If you could still have a screenshot of it, that would be great. -

TechAngel85 replied to haelfix's question in General Skyrim LE Support
A screenshot would be most helpful. :D FRAPS can take screenshots if you're not using ENB. My only suggestion on that info would be to check your ice textures. I know the "That's Ice" mod has a blue ice texture that looks horrible. Use the white option if you're using That's Ice. -
I won't delete it.  What do you think this is, the Nexus!? HAHA! That made me laugh! If by illegal then you mean by law, then No, it's not. Since it is a derivative work, and was a mod for another game, there is no law that forbids you by the Bethesda EULA that says you CANNOT share it. If you mean against the RULES, and is unethical, then certainly. I completely agree that is is unethical. I guess a judge could decide if it's "deviated" enough to be protected by copyright; thus, making it illegal. (Derivative Art Rights)

ENB and RCRN 3.6 Question? - [SOLVED]
TechAngel85 replied to Deathwing514's question in Post-Processing Support
Here are some screenshots of the RCRN mixed the SkyRealism - Cinematic for you to see for yourself if they work well. (these are from my game that I actually play) As you can see, there are no lighting issues at all. -
ENB and RCRN 3.6 Question? - [SOLVED]
TechAngel85 replied to Deathwing514's question in Post-Processing Support
It states right there are the RCRN Web site that you can use an ENB with it. Most everyone involved with STEP uses a combination. Z uses SkyRealism with RLwC. I personally use SkyRealism - Cinematic preset with RCRN - Classic preset. RCRN is a lot more than what this guy is saying too (sounds like he's not a RCRN user). It's has dynamic lighting and weathers, the FXAA isn't generic as they have optimized it, RCRN also has volumetric fog and more. From the sounds of the wording, you found a couple of "purest" who have extreme views....black or white; no gray. It's completely safe to mix these and with testing. It is true that the ENBSeries is very complex and it's impossible to find complete documentation on it. However, the most important aspects are documented. You can turn off Bloom, DOF, and SSAO which are your huge performance drainers. The STEP creator, TC, has created a specialized version of RCRN which uses SMAA over FXAA which provides greater AA results. He coupled it with SkyRealism. Also, one of our admins, Z, created ENB presets using SkyRealism for RLwC, CoT, and RCRN. So put simply, you can mix the two without any issues at all. This may depend on the ENB you are using though. Some don't mix well while other mix superbly. SkyRealism is one of the those that mixes very well with all three! Don't mix Project ENB with anything other than CoT or you'll see some of these issues. The Wilds and Seasons of Skyrim both have some issues with certain lighting mods too. Ultimately, you'll just have to test it out and see if there are issues; most of which will be lighting issues such as the sky being grayed out and everything looking washed. -
