SKYRIMLE English Strings for Skyrim by Seraphiel
rootsrat replied to MadWizard25's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
That's looking good! I am Polish, bit I live in UK and I'm used to British English. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2 -
Going bit ot here, bit I'd also disagree with the statement that 99% of people use body mod... Also, I personally find it silly to introduce perfect, beautiful and candy sweet people with breasts (in females case) taken out of a cheap porn movie to harsh medieval/nordic themed Skyrim world. Matter of personal taste, but to me it's ridiculous. I however can see an excentric high elf female mage colouring her nails :) Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

I guess for RP-ing an excentric or just posh High Elf female mage for example? Coloured nails in Skyrim isn't really my thing to be honest though.

TWO GTX 690s IN SLI MODE
rootsrat replied to Melkesideck's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Apologies, I may have not made myself clear - apart from Skyrim, I am not aware of any other unmodded game that would use up so much VRAM. Of course, by using massive textures I'm pretty sure you can max out even 4 GB card :) -

Unless you're willing to spend fortune on 2x 4GB VRAM cards, which would be VERY pointless action :D -
TWO GTX 690s IN SLI MODE
rootsrat replied to Melkesideck's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Graphic mods are mostly new textures, which SLI won't help with, as VRAM on your graphic cards won't add together. So if you install 2 cards with 2 GB VRAM each, you will only be able to use 2 GB, not 4 GB. Only gain with SLI is in GPU power. So it all depends how much VRAM your card(s) will have. I reckon single 690 with 2GB could be able to do what you want to achieve (I'm saying standard 1080 resolution). Spending money on 2 graphic cards JUST to play Skyrim is not very wise shall I say. I don't know if there are any games out at the moment that would use full potential of 2 GB VRAM... -
Mega Modded Skyrim: 240+ mods.

Amazing work, chapeau bas! -
I haven't been playing Skyrim for a while now (just bought a 2 GB graphic card, preparing for reinstall), but as far as I remember it affects 2 quest NPCs (Faendal and the ligrarian from Mages College). In my oppinion it adds realism. Well, if Skyrim was real it would be very unlikely for the librarian to spend 24/7 sitting in the library and Faendal could as well go for a walk, yes? But I guess it's a matter of personal preference and taste. To me - it adds immersion, which won't be the case for some other people (vide: peaceful above). Anyways, as for the glitches - I definitelly didn't have them in any of my games when using Commute (2 or 3 different playthroughs).

If you want to choose, I highly recommend this ranking: www. chip .pl/ranking/podzespoly-pc/karty-graficzne (spaces due to spam detector :) ) It is in Polish :), however it never failed me - it is really good website and the guys know what they're doing. The final score is based on very extensive testing in various conditions. I definitely trust these guys. Zotac GeForce GTX 690 4096MB GDDR5 is currently at the first place :)

Out of interest, which cards have you actually got in mind Pmckenna?
-
Going bit off subject I seriously don't think any new or soon-to-be-released games would need more than 2GB VRAM to be honest, but I may be wrong - it's just what I'd say using common sense :)

This may give you some idea: I have Gigabyte GTX570 Super Over Clock 1,2 VRAM, I run most of the STEP mods + Bethesda HD DLC. Use Skyrim 2kHD Lite version, the rest as per the STEP guide, selecting medium or high where available. Also run Automatic Variants with all the availble packs apart from Cute Critters or whatever it's called. On top of that - Project ENB (with SSAO, but not the high version, think it was the medium). Plus a few other mods, like Convenient Horses etc. With this setup my 1,2 VRAM was not enough, I was getting freezes (mainly in Whiterun Stables area) that made the game unplayable. After using Optimizer Textures it is playable, but it stutters a bit. I have however not fully tested it. Yesterday I run into 2 dragons (Deadly Dragons Loremonger + Bellyache's dragon textures) and it killed my VRAM, was getting freezes again. Not playable. This may give you SOME idea at least... I think that getting 2GB VRAM card is a minimum if you want to run Sky on Ultra + all the high quality textures... It should be able to handle it. I don't think that any other game needs more than that, so getting 4GB card only for Skyrim is a bit of overkill I think, unless you're filthy rich :D

Clean player home mod
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Aaah, the Forgotten Windmill looks just like something I am looking for at the moment. Not too shiny, seems really well fitted into the environment and, since I have decided not to install UFO for this playthrough after all, will be just fine for only one follower. Thanks for all the suggestions guys! -
Hi Can anyone recommend some clean and not bugged player home mod with crafting stations and comapnions friendly? Thanks!
-
Yeah, I've been using it before, however I never actually properly tested it, as I had to reinstall the game. Not using in current playthrough. This one is purely for the main quest (never completed it before!), so I'm using minimal addition of mods and play as close to vanilla as possible :) This mods definitely goes into my next playthrough.
-
Same with me. Just KNOWING they're there makes the game over feeling better :) What's more, when you come across those little mods in your game later on, when you completly forgot that you've installed them is really rewarding! Countless times I was like "Aaah, yes, totally forgot I've installed this, so awesome!". And after that they just become perma-mods on your list, and Skyrim feels so empty without those little things... :D

I used it yesterday and it did improve my performance - at a first glance at least. More testing to be done soon, but I think it is worth it. It's also easy to use (thanks for your help on this, mothergoose :) ).

Massive performance drop at certain outside areas and time of the day
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's question in General Skyrim LE Support
::EDIT:: Ignore the above, I figured it out. I'd like to thank you both for your assistance and help. Optimizer seems to have done the job, at first glance. I will need to play some more to tell for sure, but I've had a save by Whiterun stables and I can tell it is significantly better, I am getting some light stutter now, the total screen freezes are gone. -

I did not change uGrids - I knew this would be too much for my system. My shadow res is 2048 and Water reflection is at 512... I have couple more questions re the Optimizer though, as I am bit confused with the instructions on the mod page. 1. Do I select ..\Skyrim\Data folder, then tick Textures and tick BSA and just run it (on Maximum preset) or 2. Do I select ..\Skyrim\Data\Textures folder, then tick Textures and tick BSA and just run it (on Maximum preset) Do I select Compress BSA in the BSA tab? Do I run it twice (1. Skyrim\Data and run for BSA and then Skyrim\Data\Textures and run it again for textures)? Sorry, but the instructions on the mod page are not the clearest... -

Yeah, I do use those two tools. I have just downloaded the optimizer and I'm going to use it now. Quick question, I want to change the back up directory - I'm presuming that this line in INI is responsible for this: Backup = RAR = C:\Textures Backup Is this correct and do you know if I can safely amend it to something else? I haven't got much space on my C drive, it's only used for OS. -

Hm, I may just try Texture optimiser and see what it does. If this won't work then I will switch to lower res textures. Hand picking textures isn't something I would like to be doing to be honest, I haven't got enough time as it is already :) Say, if I lower the texture quality in Launcher and also reduce resolution to 1600 x 900 - will this make much difference in performance do you think?
