  1. If you are following the STEP or SR:LE to the letter there should be no reason why you cant install all the mods at once and configure everything exactly how each guide says. If you want additional mods then yes I would install them incrementally and test each one. However you can do some tests in TSEedit for plugins and boss will show some mods that have errors too so that is another way to test for errors but the best way is obviously by playing the game.  Personally 90% of the extra mods I have are just texture mods so if you do that I wouldn't even worry about it unless you have a really old graphics card or less than 2GB of vram. Obviously there is still alot more like script loading to worry about but you can read more about that elsewhere.
  2. Obviously Requiem...and he is right.
  3. Hoditon just made a video comparison of vanilla vs soolies mod. [video=youtube] Obviously it looks a lot better than vanilla. Not 100% sure its better than current step implemention since I havent done any serious compares but I like what I see in game and hopefully others can gauge whether they like it or not from the video.
  4. Nice find! I just tested these myself and agree with Neo. I hope he adds this to his SR:LE. I wish I could test but believe it or not I barely have the time to play skyrim. I still havent got above level 20 yet :D. I must also mention that I am another person with a 670 4gb vram graphics card for anyone who is wondering, so like others have said I would only recommend this for step extended people or skyrim revisted.
  5. Thanks for taking the time to reply Neovalen.
  6. Got some some questions for Neo, hopefully you see this. With your legendary edition I have been following it for the last few months and have noticed the removal and adding of mods then the complete rewrite. For the last few weeks there seems to be relatively few updates apart from rw2 and master of time, though you have expressed your interest in a few other mods. Anyway just curious as to whether you are waiting / will use other packs in addition to yours. I thought perhaps you were waiting on the weather and lighting pack but then remembered you use unreal enb which doesnt go well with cot so maybe you are not waiting and are just really busy. Second question is - what is with all the conflict resolution that you have added this last week or so? Are there major issues with elfx not carrying records over (which seems to be the case reading the description)? Sorry I don't know much about these issues and have only ever used tsedit to clean the masters. Have you contacted the elfx team about these issues if this is the case, because I am willing to if you have not already done so. Finally do you think you will have the majority of the guide done by Christmas holidays. I understand if you can't give a time frame or don't want to, I'm just curious as I'm sure many others are. You have nearly 20K views in just a few months of your new guide! Looking forward to it in any case. Btw have you guys seen / heard of Luftahraan? I'm looking forward to that mod almost as much as Neos' guide. Hopefully they release around the same time :D
  7. While I do like both almost equally I like ehlfx more so. I agree with phazer11 about it being a little too bright but this can be fixed with enb. I also think you cant really call any lighting pack the better one since enb enhances lighting packs so much and in different ways which is why in my opinion you should leave it up to the user. As for step extended I think maybe have a review of what step thinks is most suited to become a main option but make it aware that the user should try experimenting to find there own enb/lighting preference. I think it should also be known that from what I read on enb image forum (1300+ pages) most popular enb makers there use elfx when designing their enbs. That doesnt mean you cant use rlo and enb of course just thought I'd point that out though.
  8. Yes I remember seeing andoran a while ago but they have not had many updates for months. Despite this I think it still will come out since I've already seen a lot of work put into it and it looks to be one of the biggest mods so I guess it's only a matter of time.
  9. Looks interesting and I havent heard of it which is surprising cause i have searched for alot of city/quest mods since skyrim came out. Personally I'm looking most forward to luftahraan which I just posted about here on the forums. https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=3245&pid=48393#pid48393
  10. EssArrBee posted a link to a new quest mod rochebere and that motivated me to share another quest mod I found a while ago called Luftahraan. It's made by a team of more then a dozen people and has been worked on for over a year. Apparently about half way through they decided to redo a lot of their work... Anyway I've seen some of the preview videos on their site and read some stuff and it all looks and sounds amazing. Supposed to be released at the end of this year but they have changed release dates several times. Anyway even gopher is looking forward to it and he made a small vid about it below. 11. Why dont you two just work together? I understand water redux is well established but there are fewer issues in switching compared to water -> water redux from ages ago.
  12. Aiyen might say something different but I'm pretty sure he means just do a fresh download and install of steam on your new hard drive rather than move it with the program you recommended. You should obviously backup any other games you want to keep and reinstall them through steam once you have installed steam on your new hard drive. As for skyrim you should have a vanilla back up by which I mean just the default game files and dlc files without any mods backed up somewhere. If you do not have a backup then you will have to re download all of skyrim or uninstall all mods and verify steam cache through steam options. There is a guide to reverting back to vanilla that can be read here. https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Troubleshooting#Restore_Vanilla_Skyrim
  13. Thats really picky man they are wall textures remember not weapon textures. Besides in my view it just looks like granite surrounding larger chunks of rocks see below example.
  14. Yes that makes sense I noticed the new enb as well.
  15. Hey Neovalen i sent you a pm regarding SR/SR legendary but didn't even check to see if there were threads which was extremely careless of me. Anyway, I understand you are still working on the mod choices for your legendary edition and testing everything. However just curious if you have decided upon a lighting mod. You used RLO for skyrim revisited but you currently have ELfx in your new guide. So which do your prefer at the moment. Realistic Lighting Overhaul or Enhanced Lighting Fx? If you cant answer cause you are still testing that is fine. As I said in the pm amazing work as usual and thanks for all your efforts!
  16. OCZ Vertex 4 128gb - $124.99. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227791 Western Digital WD Green 2TB - $99.00 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136344 As I'm sure you know you install all your programs and operating system on the ssd and store all your data/documents on the 2tb hdd. 128gb is more then enough for most people even with skyrim/3dsmax/adobe photo shop/ms word etc as i have all these. I don't see your point about ssd's being expensive. $124.99 is cheap for a drive that is 5x faster than the average hdd (minimum) and you don't just see speed improvements from booting your operating system....
  17. While I do think some of Besidilo's comments were maybe a little harsh, I do agree with everything he says, even though I myself have got the exact same graphics card as thalastwon. As I stated I got my graphics card for just above the equivalent price of a 7970 and this was before the new amd drivers. Though now I'd defiantly get a 7970. I don't understand your argument though techangel85 about how market growth for SSD's affects the decision making process of whether to buy something. It has nothing to do with anything really. A user doesn't have to consider getting a piece of technology once it becomes common place, though it does help in some aspects to a very minor degree. Yes there were issues with the initial ssds (itgc) and now trim has solved most of the those issues so there is really no reason to not get a ssd. Also, ssds have been around for consumer usage since 2007 and flash based ssds have been used in corporations since 1995 so I wouldn't call it a new technology. About the only thing I think you should future proof is the motherboard which you also stated and I'd think most people would agree upon.
  18. https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Skyrim_Installation#tab=DLC Choose the option that suits you best. If you already have the hi res dlc downloaded and you dont want it, uncheck it and contact steam and they will remove it from your account. Personally I have got the official dlc then separated it for install from wyre bash after fixing it with the two nexus fixes. Also, some one should add the dlc fixes and bat file to the guide. I would but I cant edit wikis cause im hopeless :D
  19. I don't see the issue Farlo.
  20. Guide re-write, Nooooooo! I just downloaded all your recommended mods. Oh well still looking forward to it either way. :D
  21. Unfortunately it has 31 ITM edits and 59 Deleted References. I have tried it and I dont experiene any crashes but this is definatly not encourging for intergration in step. Also the author was banned from nexus, probably another one to suffer from the over zealous admins and so there has not been any updates since may. I still think the idea was excellent and hopefully someone else can carry it on or the author has continued his work elsewhere.
  22. Edit : removed post cause I sounded like a fool. haha
  23. I think it should be included as it is not really changing the game drastically or diverging from a vanilla feel. What it does could be called releasim/immersion but you could also classify it as a fix because this is what the animals should be doing in the first place. Anyway if your giving us the option then there really isnt a issue is there ;D.
  24. Most of these are just online tools rather then learing resources but some of you may find them useful like I have . I just came across kickstarter recently and I find the way it exposes projects and lets you be a part of them to be fantastic. Some interesting ones ive seen so far are - Twine funky monitor device and pebble an e ink watch. Essay Typer - For your last minute essay needs. Spreeder - Trains you to speed read. Kickstarter - Contribute to startup projects. Harvard Referencing Generator - Generates reference via URL or ISBN. Ninite- Create a custom selection of usefull freeware with automated installs. Convert PDF to word - As stated and keep tables and other formatting. Tried several and this is the best and free. Zamzar Online Converter - Convert many many file types. Glasnost - Test if your ISP is shaping bittorent traffic. Nearmap - If you live in australia it provides access to really high res aerial imagery, much better then google maps. Grooveshark - Listen to a huge amount of songs free and create custom playlists.
