  1. Section 2.F. Skill Interface, detailed instructions. Normally STEP recommends a specific setting/style. Does STEP has no specific preference in this case? The settings can probably be extracted from the BCF when a user is WB tech savy enough though.....
  2. I have a crossfire AMD 6970 setup, so IÂ have concentrated on the AMD part and did not check Nvidia. Section 1.E.1. Configure Driver Settings STEP has more detailed information in both the AMD-CCC guide as well. The AMD-CCC guide has other settings then mentioned in section 1.E.1.1. AMD Users A few examples. AMD-CCC: Wait for vertical refresh] to On, unless application specifies 1.E.1.1: Set Wait for Vertical Refresh to "Always off" (Recall that vsync should be running via ENBoost's enblocal.ini!) AMD-CCC: Navigate to skyrim/ and select "skse_loader.exe" to associate these settings with Skyrim ("TESV.exe" should be used if that is the executable used to launch Skyrim). 1.E.1.1: Click |+ Add|, then browse to and select TESV.exe, and click on this new profile (these settings will only apply to Skyrim now). AMD-CCC general section: Set [Wait for vertical refresh] to On, unless application specifies AMD-CCC profile section: Wait for Vertical Refresh: Always off (NOTE: Use ENBoost vsync instead, and be certain to set iPresetInterval=0 in SkyrimPrefs.ini) There could be more (and also in other AMD sections), but getting tired AND desperately want to play 1+ hour of Skyrim this evening now that my mod setup is almost finally ready ;-)
  3. One small minor thing, nitpicking really. At the top the guide is mentioned "please download the Nexus Main File in support of STEP on the Nexus.". In contrast with 2.2.7 there is no such file (pdf iirc).
  4. Totally forgot, my bad. On the brink of having a fully STEP 2.2.8 with all my mods installed. I have around 370, lots of texture replacers but also lots which spawn NPC's and wild life. Skyrim hasn't been that full of life here since I started mpdding. The new memory patch is a godsend. Knocking on wood, but its rock stable. Have made a note so that I don't forget. Plan to have a look at it, in the evening when I have time.
  5. On the "Skyrim Memory Patch 3.0" page the location of the skse.ini file is /skse/skse.ini. This should be \Data\SKSE\skse.ini. Last path also is mentioned on the STEP skse page. Got an ILS today for my lvl1 character when moving from Solstheim to Skyrim during playtesting. Shesons memory block log revealed that the size of memblock1 was 256 MB at the moment of ILS. The mem patch should have set it at 512. Also vmmap as explained here showed that memblock1 is 256 at startup and NOT 512. It looked as if the setting was ignored. After I had inserted the settings in the \Data\SKSE\skse.ini file (mod actually as per STEP recommendation) everything was OK. Also Gopher today has a video about the patch. Very useful.
  6. I will have a look at the RWT updated install instructions and your suggestion. I'm atm to exhausted to do anything further. Tomorow I will dig into it again and will let you know. It looks as if Tannin himself has to look into this. I know the warning probably can't hurt but still if no warning is shown for some others what causes it for me (and possibly others). Just to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong I would appreciate it if you or someone else could do me a favor. Multiple inputs are of course even better. If someone has installed the COMPLETE STEP extended guide could he/she do the following. Create a new profile called STEPExtended by copying an existing one which holds the complete extended STEP mod set to a new profile.Disable all mods which are NOT part of STEP extended.Run the external BOSS kickstarted by MOCheck if a 'potential mod order problem' is shown or not.Create a zipfile which contains /Skyrim/userlist and /Skyrim/BOSSlog.html and the /profiles/STEPExtended directory (minus the saves directory).Send it to me in a PM or if zips can't be attached tell me and I send my email address. The above is just a friendly request (not only addressed to you). If its not possible, no problem. I just think it would enable me to dig further in the matter. Thanks so far for the help.
  7. My pleasure and thanks for your kind words. Note: Some skse mods generate log files which end up in the overwrite directory. For example Skyrim -Elys- MemInfo. It has been reported that when you create a mod for it using MO like ElysMemInfo for it and then play Skyrim again the updated log will stay in the /modsElys/MemInfo directory. Now that I'm finally after a break of a year at the point that I almost can start playing Skyrim again I will try to figure out if this is true for other mods as well, ie Skyproc based mods. I will report my findings in the 'overwrite' thread or in my own 'Info which need to be added to the wiki' thread. In the end this info will end up in the MO wiki.
  8. Problem has been answered. Moving it to the 'answered' thread.
  9. How to prevent mods downloaded twice with IE 11 and MO See thread "MO 1.0.7 downloading mods twice from Nexus" for more details. This info is from batat, post #23. How to for IE 11 @ Win 8: 1) Open IE in Desktop mode, not Metro mode (right click on IE; Open in Desktop) 2) Gear icon should appear 3) Click on gear icon 4) Compatible setting 5) Type nexusmods.com 6) Press add button It also works for windows 7. I (wolverine2710) had the same problem with IE11 which was auto updated by Windows 7.
  10. Please have a look at the MO wiki. I have to admit it is not the clearest/cleanest section of the wiki but it explains it pretty well. Basically every time a mod generates/updates a file it will end up there. A bashed patch will end up there, logfile for skse plugins end up there, FNIS output, all data generated by Skyroc based programs like Automatic Variants. It it important to know what it is and what it does. I believe the 5+ videos in the resource tab of the wiki also discuss it. When you clean files with Tes5Edit they do NOT end up in the overwrite 'pseudo' directory but they overwrite the original file - though a backup of the original file is put in the overwrite directory.
  11. I have to say this. The (MO) S.T.E.P. community never stops to amaze me. They are REALLY trying to help and go that extra mile. DoubleYou I know it has taken you quite some time to dig into this. I TOTALLY appreciate it. I just have to little knowledge of CK/modding stuff. In the spoiler below I will respond to your findings. Note: USKP, UDGP, UHFP and UDBP got updates tonight (USK version 2.0.1 3:49, 9 Februari) and did go from a 2.0 alpha/beta status to 2.0.1. [spoiler=my response wrt DoubleYouY findings] The zipfile reflects my state before I made some changes, as in according to feedback received AND I now have deselected all esp's for which MO says 'empty esp'. DY: You need to update your Realistic Water Two install (but that isn't going to fix the problem here) https://wiki.step-project.com/Realistic_Water_Two Wolverine: I'm using RW2 version 1.11 23:49, 21 November 2013 which is the latest version. I have not the installed the 'Combination - Legendary' option as I have Falskaar and Wyrmstooth (deselected now for testing) but I have installed all esp's which are relevant for the Question: How did you come to the conclusion that I need to update. DY: Aso update Follower Trap Safety to 1.2 (also not going to fix the problem) (Brawl Bug plugin version no longer needed) Wolverine: In the Notes tab of the information window of MO I had made the remark "Latest version is 1.2. Step recommended version is 1.1. Selected 'ignore update'.". Rechecked the STEP guide again, I don't anything special atm but in the changelog of 2.2.8 it is mentioned that the Modified Mod Notes for the mod has changed. It now states: "No recommendations currently available.". Hence the latest version I assume. Action: Will update to 1.2. DY: Skyrim Distant Detail Hearthfire Edition isn't in STEP that I'm aware of, but shouldn't be a problem. Wolverine: Its a mod installed I installed last year 20130817 and it didn't need an update BUT you are correct. STEP guide says "Skyrim Distant DetailLink. Hearthfire users: Use the optional "Hearthfire Edition" file. BUT the Nexus id for that mod is 12866, while my installed mod has id 25300. My bad didn't check the nexusid and given the name (in my MO) I thought it was the correct mod. GOOD find!!! Did a bit of digging: the OP says: "ATTENTION: This mod is NOT compatible with Hearthfire! Please download the Hearthfire Edition here: https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25300/". This is the mod I installed. BUT the OP is not correct any longer because the mod now HAS just like STEP mentions a "Distant Detail Hearthfire Edition" optional file (Distant Detail made compatible with Hearthfire) in the file section. Read wolvie read!! Action: Will remove my mod and install the correct mod. DY: Dragons Shout With Voice is missing the Dragons Shout with Voice from location optional. Wolverine: I have installed Dragons Shout with Voice - Loose-35286-1-0.rar. BUT you are right, I forgot to install the optional file. Action: Will install optional file mod "Dragons Shout with Voice from location". DY: You forgot to activate Moss Rocks Dragonborn, but not an issue. Wolverine: My bad. Action: Have activated "Moss Rocks-Dragonborn" DY: If you haven't already done so, Unofficial High Resolution Patch doesn't need an esp with either extracted or checked BSA. Wolverine: Since the zip file was made I already had disabled the "Unoffical High Resoltion Patch". Action: Non required. DY: You won't need the HighResTexturePack0X.esp plugins either if you check BSAs. Wolverine: Since the zip file was made I already had disabled all three esp's for it. Action: Non required. DY: Update.esm needs cleaning. Wolverine: You are correct. I already made a 'mod' for it in MO called "Skyrim Update.esm cleaned" but I had not Action: Going to clean update.esm. I had disabled the three esp's for the free Official High Resolution DLC and other esp''s for which MO mentions "empty esp". Note: In BOSS I had set 'hide inactive plugins'. Have enabled it again. It also makes it visible that I have esp installed but not activated. I will make the changes needed but as you said I don't think its gonna make a difference. In the 2.2.8 changelog now quite a few links exist for additional reading (why a decission was made). Gonna RTFA them all, perhaps I see something there. Again thanks for all your effort. I'm gonna make a new zipfile. Perhaps you have time today/tomorow to check that new one out. That would be fab. When a new one is created I will mention it. Note 1: It seems that the more one checks things the easier it is to overlook think. Note 2: I think STEP REALLY needs a (semi) automated installer to make sure mistakes are minimized. It would also make support easier. Last year a semi automated step was discussed again. See Automated STEP Installer - Now in Beta and SemiAutoSTEP news. MotherGoose of first thread mentioned he lost interest so thats on hold. But his work is not abandoned because its part of SemiAutoStep by MilesTeq. Unfortunately his last update is from end December and I haven't seen anything indicating there is new progress.
  12. Downloaded file Thieves Guild Requirements - BETA VERSION-14157-2BETA.zip. Made the BetterQuestObjectives-ThievesGuildRequirementsPatch.esp in EBBQ optional (removed from vfs). Now the warning I get is bigger then with the normal version of thieves guild. Move SkyUI after Ars Metallica - Smithing Move When Vampires Attack after SkyUI Move Even Better Quest Objectives after When Vampires Attack Move Enhanced Blood Textures after Even Better Quest Objectives Move The Choice is Yours after Enhanced Blood Textures Move The Choice is Yours - Dawnguard after The Choice is Yours Move Non-Essential Children -- Hearthfire edition after The Choice is Yours - Dawnguard Move Thieves Guild Requirements - BETA VERSION after Non-Essential Children -- Hearthfire edition OK, gonna hit the bed (2:15 AM here in the Netherlands). Hopefully when I wake up somebody has a new suggestion. Ok: Gonna read Synixtrix url and then hit the bed.... EDIT: Read Synixtrix url. What I understand is that the STEP team has changed the isntall order so that the warning should go away. I've checked the install order today (with the STEP page refreshed in the browser) so I assume I should NOT get the warning any longer BUT still its there. In the now a bit outdated zipfile I provided (dropbox) the complete profile and BOSS info can be found. Hopefully that one make it clearer.
  13. brawl bug Only use the main "Compatibility Edition" file. Not necessary in Extended if using Enhanced Blood Textures. My bad missed that one.... Better swing sounds. Extracted BSA and made optional the BWS.esp Thundering shouts Made 'thundering shouts.esp' optional, effectively deleting it from the vfs. Saw that two mods had bsa which I did not yet extract. did it and now all bsa's for installed mods are extracted. Dynamic Fires Extracted the bsa (and selected 'hide' it) HD rabbits plus Extracted the bsa (and selected 'hide' it) After that I ran the external BOSS (kickstarted by MO) again. Current warning The conflict resolution order for some mods with scripts differs from the corresponding esp. This can lead to subtle, hard to locate bugs. You should re-order the affected mods. The following changes should fix the issue: Move Enhanced Blood Textures after Even Better Quest Objectives Move The Choice is Yours after Enhanced Blood Textures Move The Choice is Yours - Dawnguard after The Choice is Yours Move Thieves Guild Requirements after The Choice is Yours - Dawnguard Move Non-Essential Children -- Hearthfire edition after Thieves Guild Requirements I have again checked the mods mentioned above but all seems correctly installed (installation order wise). The choice is yours and thieves guild requirements are quite dominant in the above warning. Perhaps you have more suggestion of how to get rid of the last 5 warning. Fingers crossed.
  14. I will investigate further. Also CJ2311 thanks for the reply. Note: I just edited my last post.
  15. Also make a backup of the MO 'overwrite' directory. Although it is good practise to have your 'overwrite' directory empty.
  16. I have double checked everything and rechecked it again in MO. Its very easy to forget something but I think I have the installation order now in the exact same as in STEP 2.2.8. Still I'm getting the 'there are potential problems with your setup' warning in MO. What I have done (I had gremlins in my MO). Installed a new MO 1.1.1, choose the installer version. As I had cleaned my profiles directory and I had not changed the categories I simply moved the profiles and mods directory to this new MO 1.1.1. As I had other mods installed I copied (using MO) my 'STEP 2.2.8' profile to a 'ONLY STEP 2.2.8 mods enables' profile. Deselected mods so that ONLY STEP 2.2.8 mods are enabled. I did run BASH for a bashed patch and ran BOSS kickstarted by MO. After that I can see that in the profiles directory files are updated. Note I have tried to disable the mods for which MO shows ''has empty esp can be disabled" including brawl bug to see if it makes a difference. It does NOT. I have created a zip file with the mentioned profile directory and the userlist.txt and generated BOSS.html of BOSS and the warning given by MO in it. You can download it here from my dropbox account. [spoiler=warning shown by MO] The conflict resolution order for some mods with scripts differs from the corresponding esp. This can lead to subtle, hard to locate bugs. You should re-order the affected mods. The following changes should fix the issue: Move Brawl Bugs Patch - Compatibility Edition MO after Unofficial Dragonborn Patch - loose file version Move Ars Metallica - Smithing after Brawl Bugs Patch - Compatibility Edition MO Move When Vampires Attack after Ars Metallica - Smithing Move Even Better Quest Objectives after When Vampires Attack Move Enhanced Blood Textures after Even Better Quest Objectives Move The Choice is Yours after Enhanced Blood Textures Move The Choice is Yours - Dawnguard after The Choice is Yours Move Thieves Guild Requirements after The Choice is Yours - Dawnguard Move Follower Trap Safety -- Brawl Bug Plugin after Thieves Guild Requirements Move Non-Essential Children -- Hearthfire edition after Follower Trap Safety -- Brawl Bug Plugin DoubleYou stated that the STEP install order was created in such a way that no warning should be shown. I have no idea why MO on my system gives me the warning. Before I start to enable more mods for my personal taste like Skyre it would be good to start with a situation where everything is OK. I would appreciate it very very much if someone could check out the zipfile and see if he/she can find out what I am doing wrong - or find out if something is fishy with (my) MO. Should the brave soul willing to help me out need more info, please send me a PM. Currently 5+ days busy with installing all the mods of STEP. Still on lvl 1 ;-(
  17. There is no WB importer. The article ´migrating from Wrye Bash to Mod Organizer´ in the MO wiki provides info how to to easily migrate.
  18. If you put them in the MO download directory and do a ´query info´for each file MO is most of the time able to retrieve all info for a mod similar as if the mod was downloaded using the ´download with manager´button.
  19. I will have a look at it tomorrow, energy is gone for today.... I have 16 GB ram and a core i7-2600K @4.0 Ghz. Opening the menu what not the problem, happens fast, but then afterwards it aborts. Gonna do some RTFM tomorrow, thanks for the feedback..
  20. Thanks guys for all the testing. Really Appreciated. It seemed as if I had gremlins lurking in my much upgraded MO folder. I installed a fresh MO 1.1.1 with the installer. As I didn't had changed the categories and I had an empty ovewrite directory I simply copied the profiles and mods directory to the new MO directory. Fomod installer: Install OK. Fomod installer external (NCC based): Menu pops up but when the mod tries to install itself it aborts at some point. This most likely has to do with the memory usage as explained by Tannin in another thread of mine where I had problems installing a mod. [spoiler=ncc and memory usage] Octopuss: Did you install with the integrated installer or the external? I wouldn't be surprised if the NCC installer fails for such a large file. The archiver has two mods of operation: In one it's ridiculously slow to display menus because it will extract files (i.e. images) individually so if the archive is solid it will extract the whole archive once for each file to display. In the other mode it creates a buffer in memory for the whole file, then extracts the file to another buffer. Thus it requires archive-size * 2 Bytes of memory (esp. address space). Since it's compiled as a 32-bit app that won't work for archives > 2GB. Please remember NCC is based on NMM code, I'm not touching that area of the code because then I will have to keep patching it every time I update. @GSDFan. The spoiler explains why we can't install the mod and it looks as if my feeling that it was 32 bit related is true. Fingers crossed and the exterminator is on the speed dial....
  21. It seemed as if I had gremlins lurking in my much upgraded MO folder. I installed a fresh MO 1.1.1 with the installer. As I didn't had changed the categories and I had an empty ovewrite directory I simply copied the profiles and mods directory to the new MO directory. The mod doesn't have an installer. It installs correctly now.. Fingers crossed and the exterminator is on the speed dial....
  22. Fomod installer external As discussed in the thread 'Can't install Interesting NPC's 3.0.4 with MO' post #3 by Tannin. See also this thread for a mod which doesn't install because of this....
  23. Tbh that does not tell me anything new. Do you have examples of mods (or mods with a certain directory structure that use it.
  24. When installing mods MO uses an installer. Those are plugins and you can find them in settings->plugins. When a mod has no installer the 'manual installer' or 'simple installer' plugin is used. If a mod has a fancy installer (you get a nice menu which options to choose from, it is handled by 'fomod installer' or 'fomod installer external'. The latter uses NCC (a command line version of NMM and based upon that code. By default 'fomod installer' is used but by setting prefer to false in the plugin the NCC based on is used. Fomod installer is created by Tannin. In the past some mods could not be handled by fomod installer. Atm can't recall a mod which does not install with it. There is also info about it in the MO wiki. I hope this helps a bit. Edit: Curious when the 'simple installer' is used!!
