  1. See if this helps: https://m.hardocp.com/article/2011/11/23/tweaking_skyrim_image_quality/3#.U53CNRnD_qA
  2. @Aiyen: THANK YOU. Yes using the ENB shift-insert finally did the trick. I was pretty sure I had tried that before without success. But now the screenshots look just like my game. *edit* still seems just a tad too bright. lowering the brightness in a picture editory just a bit helps.
  3. No, I was very careful not to install Skyrim or any of the utilities in Program Files. And I'm pretty sure I already tried using ENB screenshots but I will try that again.
  4. I am trying to get good screenshots of Skyrim with Project ENB installed. The problem is that when I do a PrtScrn it seems to filter out the ENB settings giving me a very washed out vanilla look. And the same thing happens when I use fraps. So I asked about this in the Project ENB forum and was told I should set up Steam so that it saves an uncompressed screenshot to a folder of my choice: "go to settings > in-Game and check the box that says save an uncompressed copy. then just f12 in game and it should save the exact image on your screen."Alas, it seems that steam screenshots are not working for me because I can't get the Steam Community Overlay to activate. I found that problem explained here:https://hubpages.com/hub/How-to-Take-Screenshots-in-SkyrimWhich directed me for the fix here:https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=9394-YOFV-0014Unfortunately I tried everything in the fix but screenshots and the overlay (SHIFT-TAB) aren't working in game. At first I thought it was because I was running steam in standard user mode but MO in administrator mode. So I tried setting both to Administrator mode (didn't work) and setting both to standard mode (didn't work). F12 and SHIFT-TAB do nothing in game for me.Here is how I start the game:1. Start steam.2. Start Mod Organizer.3. Use Mod Organizer to start the SKSE loader which in turn starts Skyrim.
  5. I know this will sound a little crazy, but before I began my current playthrough which I started in January I spent 2 months researching every single mod I wanted and reading the posts about that mod and looking for incompatibilities. I also read through most of Step as well as the Skyrim Revisited guides, etc. etc. I keep a detailed Word doc that is now 68 pages long that specifies how to install each mod, how to clean each one or create a patch for it, which version of the mod I'm using, etc. etc. Yeah I'm kind of obsessive about this. However I now have over 250 mods installed and about 235 plugins, and I never freeze or have an ILS. I do occasionally (5-6 hours play time) have a CTD but with something like 4,000+ scripts installed that's not bad. I'm at level 40 and I have 4 followers. And I have absolutely no lag and the FPS never goes below 40.
  6. I've had a situation where I had random CTDs that were eventually cleared up by using DDSOpt on my textures. And no I did NOT reduce the quality of the textures, I ran DDSOpt and limited the textures to 8192x8192. What DDSOpt does if configured correctly is to check every texture for conformance to specs and standards, and if any are incorrectly configured it corrects them without reducing their size or quality. That alone fixed the CTD for me. btw, it's important that you know which textures you can or cannot run DDSOpt against. For example, don't run it against any meshes, use it only for textures, and don't run it against any water textures. There are instructions within the Step site that go into a lot of detail about that, just follow the directions: https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:DDSopt#tab=Using_DDSopt
  7. I've used this mod for a few months and had no problems. Seems compatible with about everything. I have about 250 mods and 240 esps and everything works great.
  8. There's a new mod that takes care of the Dragon skeletons though I can't remember the name of it. I have always just used the console to disable the bones.
  9. @Uhuru: I guess that must be a new feature of MO? I'm using version 1.1.2 and that was put in 1.2.0 according to the Read Me.
  10. Yeah I've know that for quite a while. BUT I just found out 2 other things recently that I should have known: --If you hold down the interact key (by default 'e' on PC) on an object, you can manipulate the object (move it, carry it) without adding it to your inventory. --If you hold down the interact key on an NPC follower, you can tell them to do something (wait there, pick up something, etc.) without having to talk to them and go through menus.
  11. I use Dynamic Timescale to set outdoor areas to 8, city areas to 3, and indoor areas to 2. I haven't had any problems in about 8 months of playing. I would set those values lower but I'm a bit paranoid from everything I've previously read. @Garfink: I had to relax the sleep needs in RnD a bit because around noon it was telling me my Dragonborn needs a nap. "You've just killed 10 bandits and a dragon, but now it's time for your nappy poo" LOL So I just lengthened that a bit to the point he gets that message in the evening.
  12. @Citizen: What you say is true for NMM users but not for Mod Organizer users since mod files NEVER physically overwrite each other in MO. The load order is based totally on the position of the mod in MO. You can drag mods up and down in the load order to make their files load before/after other mods. HOWEVER if you don't unpack the BSAs then the loose files will ALWAYS take precedence over archived files (i.e. files in BSAs), and that will negate any load order that you have in MO for conflicting files. That's why MO users should ALWAYS unpack BSAs during installation. (There are a few that stay packed though, e.g. the DLCs).
  13. In the MCM options for Convenient Horses there is an option to display the script lag on your screen. Turn that on, your lag should be under 50 most times. If it's over 100 most of the time then yes you have too many scripts. It's not a foolproof test, it's more a sanity check.
  14. I use realistic lighting overhaul with a very dark ENB. my dungeons are pitch black so I use wearable lanterns. you might consider trying wearable lanterns because you can specify the radius of the light and with a single keypress of the keyboard you can turn your lantern on and off with a subtle sound effect. it's very nice
  15. You don't need to uninstall W&C just disable unnecessary features in the MCM menu. btw if you uninstall mods be sure to use Skyrim script cleaner to clear out orphaned scripts from your save game file.
  16. I use the same combination of stealth mods as Thane and I really love it, plus I use I Hud to remove the cross hair and you can remove the cross hair for distance weapons only and keep the cross hair for hack and slash which might also work for spells. I also use less intrusive hud to move the sneak meter to the bottom of the screen.
  17. FYI If you really have to remove a mod mid-game you should use the Skyrim script cleaner to remove orphaned scripts from your save game.
  18. Is the SkyUI.esp plugin enabled in your mod organizer/NMM? Did you run BOSS (version 2.2) to sort your plugin load order?
  19. Wow, that is a great mix of mods and I laud your choices. In fact I have pretty much the same mix of mods myself with these major exceptions: Instead of ELFX I use RLO (Realistic Lighting Overhaul) mostly because I like really dark interiors. So I use the Wearable Lanterns mod for that.Instead of SkyRe I use a combination of other mods including ACE, Deadly Combat, and Stealth Skills Rebalanced.Instead of including a ton of mods that just add more creatures and people to the game, I've been more selective. For example, I use Immersive Patrols and Immersive Travelers, but none of the other Immersive esps. And instead of using both Interesting NPCs (3DNPC) and Inconsequential NPCs, I only use Interesting NPCs along with a couple follower mods (Vilja and Inigo). You should consider what the people above say. I do think you have too many script heavy mods, and that can cause problems. So think about getting rid of Footprints and Enhanced Blood unless you really can't play without them. If you are playing 1st person then Footprints won't be that noticable anyway. And consider turning off some of the features of Wet and Cold. For example, I use Wet and Cold and I turned off all the shader stuff like drips and steam because I can do without those (that reduces the scripts that run). Also, be sure to check the cleaning on EVERY plugin not just the ones reported by BOSS. BOSS only knows about the ones that have already been reported, it does NOT actually check them when it runs, it just looks in its database and compares the checksum of the esp against its database.
  20. I just upgraded to version 1.1.2 from 1.0.9 and the upgrade went smoothly. Thank you! But I was hoping the following 2 problems would get fixed and they still aren't: PROBLEM #1: If you create a shortcut on the toolbar for an application, then you remove the executable from your list (using the "Configure the executables..." button), you can no longer remove the shortcut. If you right-click the shortcut and choose "remove" you get this error: "an error occured: invalid name" The only way to fix it is to add the entry back into the executable list making sure the same "Title" is used as the shortcut, then you can remove the shortcut and after that you can remove the entry from the executable list. PROBLEM #2: If the Nexus version number has an 'a' at the end of it (for example "1.2.7a") the interface interprets that as being an "alpha" version and displays it as "1.2.7alpha". Maybe this is on purpose? I don't think it should do that because I got scolded by a mod author when I referred to one of his versions as being "alpha", and he said he never releases alpha code.
  21. I have had this exact problem and I posted the FIX for this over in the Wrye Bash area. Here is what I posted: *** IMPORTANT UPDATE *** Wrye Bash completely hosed my ESP list again by disabling most of them! So I did more investigation and found the cause of the problem. I had over 900 save games, and Wrye Bash has to PARSE THROUGH ALL OF THEM when it starts up in order to populate the Saves tab. It evaluates each save game against your list of plugins. So I removed 700 older save games and now it's really fast like it used to be and doesn't disable my plugins. So if anyone has over 500 save games you should think about removing some or you might have the same problem! BTW, my rig is really fast: 16GB RAM Quad-core 4.2 GHz overclock Samsung Pro SSD for all gaming
  22. fyi, if you use Wrye Bash to create a Bashed Patch it will by default include Follower Trap Safety in its entirety in the patch, and will UNCHECK (disable) Follower Trap Safety. So if you think MO did that in may have been Wrye Bash instead. In other words, don't disable Follower Trap Safety yourself, let Wrye Bash do that if it wants to.
  23. As I recall I actually did try saving and then reloading but it persisted, so I kind of got scared that my save game was getting corrupted or something. As far as waiting a while, I guess I never thought of that.
  24. Below is a description of a bug I ran into, and how I solved it. The solution is in the "Spoiler" button. See if you can answer the riddle before you look at the solution! So there I was with my 3 followers--Vilja (from Vilja mod), Zora (from iNPCs mod), and Lydia (stock follower). We were riding our horses in East March making our way north to Windhelm. After riding across the bridge to Windhelm we dismounted and entered the city. It's the first time I've been in Windhelm, so I spent a day there completing a few quests and keeping warm (Frostfall mod) as well as fed and rested (RnD mod). I increased my smithing and decided that I needed to get some supplies from my horse (CH mod). So I went to the city exit and there's where my troubles began. Instead of appearing on the bridge the game put me INSIDE the bridge (below it), but I was able to walk out of the bridge down to the river where I made my way over to the docks and back into the city. I tried exiting the city but the same thing happened! Googling the problem came up with nothing useful. Well, I finally figured out what was going on. CAN YOU GUESS WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE SPOILER?
  25. I have no idea what the problem might be. But you could try starting MO with administrator's privileges in case that helps.
