SKYRIMLE Optimized Vanilla Textures (by tony971)
fireundubh replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
All it takes is one person to tell Bethesda. Things like Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized shouldn't be allowed either. And, by the way, contrary to what "The Vampire Dante" told him, Nexus' own Terms of Service expressly forbid sharing content from the DLCs. The Nexus is treading on pretty thin ice by having an admin, an agent of the company, permit this file. Anyway, my point is: don't count on seeing this file up there for long. It could be. But you never know when Bethesda will decide to crack down on this stuff. -

This will get pulled down due to copyright infringement. -
End of the month but I doubt it. In any case, when 1.8 hits, so many patches and mods will need to be updated.

CK doesn't see mods installed in Mod Organizer
fireundubh replied to ipmlj's question in Mod Organizer Support
Once you get this working, don't forget to use the Redate Plugins option in LOOT so that your plugins appear in load order order in the CK. You can thank me for bringing the need for that feature to the attention of LOOT's developer. ;) -
SKYRIMLE Better Favor Jobs - Enhanced Radiant Quests (by fireundubh)
fireundubh replied to fireundubh's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I'm going to add a "more favor jobs" component. I'm planning out "hunting jobs" (pelts and meat) specifically because I've been wanting to make a horse thief mod for awhile now that involves stealing horses, butchering them, and selling the meat to innkeepers. I know. I'm a bad person. But if you have any other ideas for favor jobs, I'd like to hear them. -
I just watched a Dishonored clip where the player is detected so I could hear that sound. I noticed that the cone of vision was a strict 45 degrees. It's 180 degrees in Master of Disguise, primarily because NPCs can turn their heads 180 degrees, but I think I'm going to narrow that angle a bit. I also noticed that detection in Dishonored was about time spent in that cone of vision, which makes sense for a game where you're usually sneaking rather than trying to blend in. Still, I liked the fact that you knew what was going to happen if you stayed in that cone of vision. It's all chance in Master of Disguise. I really want to implement detection symbols (they're lightning bolts in Dishonored) that appear around the detecting NPC's head, but I don't think that's possible with Skyrim or SkyUI. I'd probably have to create three mostly transparent meshes and turn them into nonplayable pseudo-"helmets" that get dynamically added to nearby NPCs and which detecting NPCs equip, in sequential order, in an unused slot. I'd also have to reverse engineer EK_RingLimiter so that equipping these "helmets" would be nonintrusive (i.e., actually important things don't get unequipped.) The best I could do is a series of custom shaders, in which case I'd replace the "chance to be detected" dice roll with something that involves colored grades of detection, but I know people hate when mods turn NPCs into different colors. An alternative to shading the whole NPC is to use colored Detect Life effects, which might work but they're a bit slow to fade in/out. Hmm...

By the way, I have a script that adds any number of keywords (or factions) from a formlist to selected records. If you still need to save time, I can prepare those scripts for release here.

YAY! The Dragon Soul Absorb Bug! YAY!
fireundubh replied to GunerX's question in General Skyrim LE Support
What are those "opt" versions of the core plugins? I would guess those are re-packed BSAs, in which case: Did you use BSAopt? Did you use the right archive flags? BSAopt's packing implementation is broken and shouldn't be used; and if you compressed any BSAs that contain scripts, there's a good chance those scripts will fail to load. -

Are your mods prioritized like this? -
Were the guards immediately hostile? Or did you see the screen shake before they went hostile?

I was thinking of the sound at 0:16 in this track. It's just a matter of simultaneously pressing all of the keys on a piano but it sounds great. Might be too loud for Skyrim though.

Nothing wrong with the script. Nothing to do with arrow damage.

I tried very early on but I can't figure out how to add vanilla voices to events like that. Sadly, this would get me booted from the Nexus so fast. That's the one thing that Nexus does faster than its servers.

The bashed patch merges the leveled lists. The script has nothing to do with that. The leveled lists aren't supposed to be leveled in Requiem. Requiem is an unleveled overhaul. The script only unlevels the already merged leveled lists. That's all. It's possible that you've installed mods that add items that aren't balanced for Requiem, in which case I blame you. Also pretty sure there's nothing difficult about Helgen with or without Requiem.

I just have this feeling that if I added a way for a big, yellow exclamation mark to appear over the heads of detecting NPCs, there'd be all sorts of YouTube videos. For a disguise mod, Master of Disguise is, strangely, not visually appealing. The video I tried to make myself involved infiltrating Northwatch Keep but the experience was different every time. Sometimes I would never be detected. Other times I'd be detected at the front gate. Other times I'd be detected and I'd have to fight my way out. I suppose a video that explored those different experiences would work.

Can someone make a video of this mod at work? A YouTuber was going to do it, but he couldn't figure out how to showcase the disguise mechanic.

BSAs also have specific flags that you should use. I made a thread somewhere here that lists all of the possible flags as well as the flags used by the core BSAs. https://forum.step-project.com/topic/5111-bsa-archive-flags/

Based on your load order, I can tell that you're either manually re-sorting Requiem and related mods/patches or you've interfered with LOOT by changing the metadata. You really should let LOOT do its thing and not mess with the metadata unless you absolutely know you have to do so. LOOT is not BOSS. Under most circumstances, you don't need to place controls on how it works. This is what a LOOT load order looks like.

ACCEPTED Alternate Start - Live Another Life by Arthmoor
fireundubh replied to youtoo's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Right. I'm okay with this. If you're a real member of the Forsworn, you should be out in The Reach, paying your dues with the blood of your enemies.'The alternative would be to create a few unique achievements, including one that counts how many Nords you've slain, and then use that number instead of a bounty. But bounties have a "known" factor to them. If you have a high bounty, you're "known" around a hold as an evildoer, and if you're decked out in Forsworn gear, the Forsworn aren't going to look twice. -
Well, "patching" a mod like Helgen Reborn to work with Requiem is a bit different than creating a compatibility patch. When you add new NPCs, for example, you need to add Requiem's perks to those NPCs and adjust their stats, but that isn't straightforward. In fact, that doesn't really qualify as patching either. What Azirok is doing with his Helgen Reborn "patch" is creating a version of Helgen Reborn specifically for Requiem. That means handcrafting the balance of Helgen Reborn for Requiem and you can't do that unless you really, really know Requiem and you're a really good judge of balance. That's art, basically. You can't teach how to be a great artist. My guide is about how to use an advanced workflow to ensure that everything that should work works. In the guide, we'll explore how to deal with overriding records (i.e., conflicts), among other things, but we won't be adapting unique records to fit Requiem or any other mod.

ACCEPTED Alternate Start - Live Another Life by Arthmoor
fireundubh replied to youtoo's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
If he added himself to the vanilla Forsworn faction, wearing a Forsworn disguise would remove him from the vanilla Forsworn faction while in disguise, which means that the detection system would take over and he'd be back to where he started. Redirishlord wants to be treated by the Forsworn, while dressed as Forsworn, as a real member of the Forsworn instead of as the player masquerading as Forsworn, which is the default behavior. I'm probably going to add a "bounty bonus" where, if the bounty is above some threshold, the bonus would break the identity score cap and circumvent the detection system altogether, thereby providing at least the illusion of Forsworn membership. And so ends the lesson on how to say "Forsworn" more than Forsworn. -

...in the sense that I actually implemented a disguise mechanic. If you use SkyRe or Requiem or Civil War Overhaul, you're not doing a good job at that!Master of Disguise takes disguises to the next level by layering a detection system over them. This means that your cover can be blown—in the depths of Northwatch Keep and you'll have to fight your way out. You don't have a 100% chance to be undetected. That chance is, in fact, capped; and there are a number of factors, including your skill in Sneak or Illusion, racial bonuses and penalties, mobility bonuses and penalties, how much of a disguise you're wearing, your distance to a detecting NPC, and that NPC's line of sight to you, that determine your chance to remain undetected.Master of Disguise goes way beyond what every other disguise mod, disguise feature, and game that features disguises has done. I just don't get credit because the system is so subtle. There are no visible cones of vision, no exclamation marks above suspicious NPCs, etc. Staying undetected means using common sense and being discovered means having to deal with the consequences, but you can run away—and if you're fast enough and run far enough, your pursuers will give up the chase and you'll be free to try again. That won't work with Master of Disguise unless you alter and recompile the disguise script. Master of Disguise temporarily removes you from the vanilla Forsworn faction if you're in that faction. This was done to close an exploit made possible by an older version of Alternate Start as well as the Madanach rescue quest. I replied in the Nexus comments.
