Tried installing backup made with steam backup and SNAFU! Backup doesn't work. Oh well! I had to give it a try. It actually worked once before. I'm downloading from steam now and when finished I'll follow the wiki to make a "vanilla" backup and store it. then will begin a brand new 'shiny' S.T.E.P. install. With so many great new mods out though its going to be tough to just stick to the program. It'll be worth it in the long run. Soon we'll have to change the name form S.T.E.P to LEAP. or JUMP

@leetMiniWheat. I've been using Wrye Bash to launch for so long I've forgotten other ways of launching. You're right of course, but I thought I remember something being said about launching with the Skyrim Launcher changes some z-fighting settings back to their default settings and unless you want to go into your ini settings and make changes every time you play, you should avoid using the game launcher. Has this changed?

Will steam allow me to play on two different locations? Do I need to move my steam install back and forth in order to play two different Skyrim games? I have a clean Skyrim backed up on disk using Steam Backup. Also what is "SIS"

Can I load skyrim on another drive or partition and play it on one or the other? I would like to install a STEP only Skyrim for mod testing. Yet still continue my original if possible. Steam Mover seems to be for moving games but I'm not sure about the Steam download itself being moved.

I have been thinking about starting a new STEP installation just for the fun of it, and my installation now has all kinds of other non STEP stuff and out of control experimentation going on. So it's time to get back to the basic STEP. Are there any suggestions or instructions you would like me to keep an eye on during my install? And should I use The 1.6.89.0 version? I'm not sure if this is important or not. But I would like to try using Wrye bash 299 exclusively as I'm not sure if different installers might cause some mods to install differently.?

The installation of STEP mods is a very precise process be sure you have followed all the recommendations,and updated your graphic card driver 12.6. Do you have the options in the CCC or Vision Engine CC set correct?

What is the possible cause of the game freezing in the exact same spot. Yet I can walk a ways around the spot and no problem. This spot is a wood bridge that crosses a drainage creek outside a main gate to whiterun.

I tried adding this mod back in. I don't understand it. But as far as the bumping into me goes, adding this mod made it worse. :ohmy: I'm not kidding! My conjured familiar actually runs into me knocking me to the side.???

How many saves are you up to? and what size is the last save? What level too by the way? Not sure if this makes a difference or not though.

Are there some rigs that are running SLI or CrossFire that work? Would it be worth it to to make a dual card thread since Elder Scrolls has always had problems with dual card mode and nobody seems to be able to figure out why? The reason I am asking is I don't know if I should upgrade my processor or add another video card. I'd rather get the issue with SLI or Crossfire figured out though. It's been a problem long enough! Guys! I like the 299 version, it works great. But, isn't it about time we had a really nice Wrye Bash icon for the launcher. Can they add one to the mopy folder so we can just replace that old paper printout thing?

venkman781, Thank you for your two cents. Have you tried disabling crossfire to see what changes if anything at all?

Are any of you able to play the game in crossfire mode? Is it stable ? I want to get another HD 7870,but not if crossfire has to be disabled . What say you guys! Balztathewalz?

I have a feeling that a lot of problems will go away when the problem of cleaning mods is dealt with.Until we have a tool like TES_Edit any changes we attempt to make, will probable lead to another problem. The Great modding minds need to come together  and develop a SUPER tool

I will. Â I also tried going to Whiterun again. I travel there by wagon,get off and start walking to the entrance near the stables. half way across the wood bridge Freeze! What was that about papyrus protocols? Or save bloating?

Here's something strange. Maybe it will make sense to you. I had a game that ran very well one day and and the next day would start fine indoors,but when I tried to leave it would just load and load and load. I ctrl,alt,delete out and taskmgr shows Skyrim not responding. After trying a few things I decided to store the save away for later and start over. I started a new game with "Alternate Start" Thank you Arthmoor! thank you. After I made my character I saved it. Then I loaded the save and chose which start I wanted and walked around a bit. Then decided to load the other save that I had moved from my last game(the one that wouldn't work) and it worked fine and I was able to play for about 5hrs before freezing as I started to cross the wood bridge to enter Whiterun. Why would saving over a new game work when loading the same save and trying to play would not?
