I've just tried Alternate Start for the first time today, and I must say, this might just get me back in game! It's so much more fun to just skip the boring cut scenes after you've seen them a thousand times before, and you don't have to do the same things you'd normally do for the first hour, regardless of the character you're playing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but upgrading the engine from DirectX 10 to DirectX 11 is much easier than from DirectX 9 to DirectX 11. And Crysis 2 was supposed to support Dx11 at launch, but it was later, because the devs couldn't keep up with the schedule. Nonetheless, DirectX 9 games can look great, take The Witcher 2 for example.

I'm considering either Duke Patrick's, ACE or Deadly Combat. I wonder if ACE is compatible with Duke Patrick's.

Castle Strunmah has potential as a player home. There's also Castle Grey and Castle Dar Khuun, but all of them are only player homes with no castle management whatsoever. There was that tower defense mod too.

Thanks for that mate, I'll definitely check it out. I was hoping for more STEP friendly approach though, so this might be the better place to ask those questions.

Specifically mods that alter the combat system, like Duke Patrick's. As far as I know, there are: ACE - Combat Skills (this is mostly new perks and such) Deadly Combat Duel - Combat Realism Duke Patricks - Archery And Heavy Weapons Combat More Dynamic Injuries (in a way, it adds some realism in combat)

I'm surprised you're surprised about that. There wasn't a proper expansion pack released by Bethesda since morrowind.

So what's the deal with this mod, is it still considered or did TPC made it obsolete in any way?

I've already seen this before. In order to use super-sampling, you must drop the AA to 4x. I have no idea what you need for 8x Super sampling but with crossfire 6950 2gb, it is still not enough for 8x. Crossfire 7970s could do it probably.Yes, the super-sampling is apparently bugged at 8x. I think it's the case with Nvidia cards as well.

The Wiki page on AMD settings is fine. The only thing you could add is some tweaks to improve the IQ, that carry a significant performance hit. Like switching MSAA to SSAA, enabling AF from the drivers (and disabling the in game settings) or using a different AA filter. I also don't recommend using Vsync without D3DOverrider, but that's just a personal preference.

I don't have those entries. I've probably never even installed Steam on this system, just rebuilt it from the last Windows install.

What version of Skyrim Unplugged are you using? I'm curious if you are using 1.5b due to your comment about it not showing the version, unless you are referring to something else. At the same time, 1.5b shouldn't allow you to delete the files without enabling updates, but you can if using 1.4.I was using Skyrim Unplugged 1.5b. It didn't seem to even detect my Skyrim install, but it worked anyway.
