  1. Everything seems to work better for me if my CCC settings, .ini, and Skyrim game launcher settings all match. With multiple configurations and attempts, I still end up with shimmering/glitching transparency AA and this was NOT a problem on earlier CCC driver versions so I assume it was caused by AMD. I am using 13.4 currently. Would you recommend updating to a newer BETA or rolling back my drivers? I have RadeonPro but I'm not really sure what the point of using it is right now, since none of its settings seem directly related to my issues. Also, I don't know anything about SweetFX? Is it optimal to use this over ENB? Using ENB does fix my shadowy shimmer issues but doesn't do much for the other transparency (fences, hair, etc).
  2. I will try running with the Unofficial patch and no other mods but Aiyen, I experienced this issue both with an SR install and Vanilla. The SR install included the unoffical patches so I don't see how that could be. So far, screwing with my AA settings in GPU has changed the severity of the problem. It also seems that I may have DDSOPT'd the vanilla textures with some error or something because using the optimized textures also seems to make it worse. Using ENB also doesn't fix anything.
  3. I've posted some examples of the following texture/mesh issue with Skyrim as I've been investigating ways to fix it. I've come up short with "try a fresh reinstall" as the last resort. Well, I've now tried it and the issue remains: https://i.imgur.com/rz4cF84h.jpg Note: The problem only afflicts Wood Elf males. A new issue has also cropped up: https://i.imgur.com/3Aaqp7Eh.jpg This affects all female characters. Because this is not a mod, and I am running vanilla, I do not understand what in heck is causing these graphical issues. I am currently testing GPU and game graphics settings to try and find a solution. If anyone has seen this before, please help. I've looked all over the place for answers and haven't found anything that sticks.
  4. Right. I don't know how mine got turned off. Maybe it's forced by the ENB I was using instead?
  5. What if you have 2gb VRAM and 8gb RAM?
  6. I'm thinking of scrapping that one if I go back to using GPU over ENB. It doesn't play nice with 8x SSAA.
  7. I've used EBT for a long time but I'm going to drop BFS since I never used it before installing SR and I don't really care about it. Everybody says they cause crashes but I'm hoping to get away with using EBT and just the retextures from DSI.
  8. I always used Get Snowy and have only recently tried Wet and Cold due to SR recommendation. Same with the footprints mod (which I actually rather like). Would you recommend using Get Snowy instead as a lightweight alternative? I used to just put hoods and cloaks on my followers for immersion anyhow. Stuff like AFT and EFF should allow that pretty handily.
  9. Neovalen has been updating SR-LE quite a bit over the past week. Including dumping entire sections of it to be redone later, haha. I think the best practice is to cross-reference SR with SR-LE to make sure you're updating mods, dumping old mods that don't work as well as newer ones, cleaning and optimizing correctly, etc. But that was easier before the dump, which I assume was due to the need for more testing or some issues that cropped up. SR seems optimal to me, as a modding philosophy, because it tries to incorporate mods that aren't strictly about enhancing the vanilla content (such as new weapons and armor, gameplay expansions, etc) which is the same philosophy I have. Unfortunately, I don't think SR is as up to date as STEP currently is. I wonder if Neo recommends following STEP and adding additional mods rather than doing it with SR.
  10. Argh. I really want to use Inconsequential NPCs. Are those other "add random NPCs to Skyrim" mods any good? I used to use one that added a whole lot of NPCs, some with hilarious glitches, to all the towns. Whenever a dragon or vampire attacked them, it was sheer chaos. I am planning to stick to EFF for now, Neovalen, as per your guide. I will definitely want to give it a good trial run before changing anything anyhow.
  11. Oh crazy, so this is an ELFX problem. That explains why disabling/enabling Unreal Cinema has such a heavy effect on it. I will check out the thread, see what he recommends doing to mitigate the issue in the meantime. Thanks, Neovalen.
  12. So is AFT better than EFF for followers? I haven't had any experience using EFF yet but AFT seems to be something of an unknown quantity among the STEPers. I have used AFT a bit and preferred it over UFO. Garfink, I have some serious graphical issues that are plaguing an otherwise (mostly) stable SR install. I've followed Neovalen's optimization and am really not interested in the tedium of redoing it all (though I'm willing to drop some textures, certainly). Do you know anything about transparency AA issues or shader issues that mess up fences, hair, and other textures with transparency? Nearox fixed his problem by downsampling but I'm a bit intimidated at the idea of doing that since ENB (I use Unreal Cinema but will look into the one you use) fixes everything EXCEPT my transparency AA issues.
  13. I'm never sure if the names people use are assumed or their real names. I guess it's a copyright so... I am le dumb.
  14. It's sort of unintelligible. Not a native English speaker? EssArrBee... I will check out your edits!
  15. Good to know. I plan to add it to my SR install as well.
  16. No worries. It was Aiyen who helped me out, though it took a while for me to understand his instructions!
  17. I've tried a few other interiors with no trouble during my latest test run my SR install (only dropped a few small mods as well as UNP). I am running Unreal Cinema as opposed to Realvision and this may be the origin of the problem. Turning off ENB definitely helps but I think there's still some slight stutter. I know that the game is supposed to be pretty stable inside interior cells so I'm not sure what the issue is. FPS will stay at the 50-60 that I can count on inside interior cells then plummet to around 9-20 for a few seconds before shooting back up again. Could it be a texture I optimized? Something like that? I noticed that the area contains a lot of rugs (Detailed Rugs). I wasn't using the .ini tweak that helps load large interiors but activating that didn't make a difference. Nor did mucking around with ENB settings. I will keep testing other interiors and see if I continue to have lag spikes. In the meantime, maybe someone knows a reason this could be happening. Thanks as always, guys!
  18. I had a similar issue. It was file-pathing. Neovalen's Skyrim Revisited could use a bit more detailed instructions about installing AV and optimizing the texture packs (no offense, Neovalen, I still got love for ya <3) This is what works for me: 1. Download and install Automatic Variants. 2. Download AV packages, DO NOT install via Mod Organizer. 3. Copy/Merge ONLY the Skyproc Patches folder from each AV pack directly into the Skyproc Patches folder in the Automatic Variants folder. 4. Profit. I haven't reoptimized my stuff yet and, honestly, a combination of all that temp foldering and not understanding how bad I was screwing up the pathing by installing to MO and then copy and pasting folders without knowing what I was doing is why I went astray in the first place. I am probably going to optimize again, or copy in the already optimized textures I have from packs. But really, running SUM takes 5-10 minutes with just AV and Dual Sheathe Redux (which I don't love anyway) so I'm wary of making changes unless I am 100% sure I need to. Automatic Variants is, however, one of the best mods alive.
  19. Ah. It's turned on by default so that's good. Dang, I wish there was an easy way to learn more details about specific ENBs. Unreal Cinema has a lot of interesting options (Subpixel AA? Don't even know what that is!) but so hard to track down info about them. I do know that the Edge AA still gives me some grief with certain objects (plates, bowls, fences, etc) and I get a weird FPS lag spiking effect in the Jorrvaskr Living Quarters. Still some kinks for me to figure out.
  20. Yeah. I optimized the High Res DLC as per Skyrim Revisited instructions. I've had this problem before, though, and that was when I didn't even know about optimization. Could have been caused by something else, though. Thing is, there's nothing in my mesh or textures folders in my Skyrim directory except for Automatic Variants stuff. Beyond that, I have no clue what vanilla files could be messed up. I hear it's "shader issues" but I have no idea what that means. Could be my GPU too, I guess, but most of the settings are turned off for ENB. I've been over this a lot and the only thing left is to reinstall Skyrim or "go back to vanilla" (as per STEP's instructions on how to do that) and see if it sorts it out. I would have done that already if I was sure it wouldn't mess up all the work I've done to get SR running. :p
  21. Hi. As I've posted about previously, I've been installing SR (with some changes or updates based on out of date mods or mods I don't like, ex: UNP). I've run into an issue with hair and facial shaders (or something) for which I can't find much info. Some have suggested reinstalling Skyrim since the issue does persist with vanilla (though not as bad as it is when using texture mods such as AOF Hair or Beards). What I'm wondering is: if I follow the STEP guide to return Skyrim to vanilla, will MO retain my load order and installed mods so that I can save time on reinstalling everything? Do I have to uninstall all the mods in MO first? I do know that if I re-vanilla the Steam folder, I'll have to reinstall SKSE and ENB but is there anything else I should know beyond the STEP/SR Skyrim initial config stuff? I really think this will help and I think it's safe but Skyrim can be tricky and I've only had one person (Nearox) confirm that this should work like I describe. Was just hoping to get more opinions/guidance before I do anything. I've mentioned it in other forums where I thought it might be pertinent but I figure the best way to get the most attention is to post here in Troubleshooting and ask. Thanks!
  22. I have .213 ENB and am using Unreal Cinema (.212 Beta). I'm not really sure how to install ENBoost but it seems like something I should do as a preventative measure. I've read through this thread and am pretty unfamiliar with ENB in general. Trying to sort of figure it out but if anyone can tell me how to install/integrate it into my setup I think that would be helpful.
  23. I have no idea what causes it, neither does anyone else. I've googled exhaustively, mate. If it's shaders, I don't really know what that means or how to begin fixing it. Nearox said I should reinstall Skyrim but I guess I'm not totally convinced that won't mess something else up. I know Mod Organizer is supposed to be a virtual data folder, so reinstalling Skyrim should preserve the install (as long as I do the setup correctly). Would you second his advice? I'm at a lost given that the issue follows me into vanilla play.
  24. That all sounds more doable. For whatever reason, my iPresentInterval is already 0 (cuz of ENB) though I never manually changed it. My game does run smooth and I don't have the transparency AA "shimmer" issues. Will those come back if I follow the above advice?
