That was it. I forgot that I had also installed Enhanced Character Edit (which I didn't need) and it was overwriting XP32. Thanks Neovalen!

If this isn't the right place for this, please excuse me. Running along just fine for more than a month...everything working just as I liked it. Until I saw a few of Gopher's Let's Plays and Mod Sanctuary. I had to have Warburgs Paper Map, Spinning Arrows and Breezehome Fully Upgrade-able. So I install those. Again everything seem to be fine. Then today, I switched to 3rd person and noticed that my sword was on my hip and the shield wasn't on my back. In fact the shield was underground until I jumped or crossed some rough terrain - It seems to be attached to my feet when stored. I did a bit of Google searching and found that the recommendation was to re-install XP32 and Realistic Ragdolls and Force. I did both of those, reran the patcher, and FNIS...no go. I can live with the sword on the hip. But I really want the shield on the back. Anyone have suggestions? (My setup is a STEP 2.2.8 Extended setup with a few things from SR:LE and a few things of my own. I can provide the details if needed.) Thanks in advance.

Because it struck me as AWESOME when I took it, here's Lydia... This is S.T.E.P. Extended 2.2.8, NeoValen's ELFX from SR:LE and Phinix Natural ENB (plus a few more mods that really don't apply). I truly believe this is the best looking Lydia that I have ever seen.

Interesting - I never though about the multiple profiles like this....but I see what you're driving at. I may try that with a future character. Thanks for the tip.

Dual Monitors - Skyrim on One...CTD
p4ck3tl055 replied to p4ck3tl055's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
Well, I can report that after toggling both "ForceBorderless" and "ForceBorderlessFullscreen" to true in enblocal.ini, I was able to play for nearly three hours without the loss of window control. I did lock the game up, but I think this is problem with either Hunterborn or Live Another Life, or that I was using them both together. I'll check into that a bit deeper once I get back into the game in a few hours...gotta go watch my UK team beat Florida in the SEC tournament. (I can dream can't I?) -
For the past several weeks, I've been trying to figure out what is causing Skyrim to CTD at random spots/times. I wanted...*really* wanted... to blame a mod, but now I'm pretty sure I know what the culprit is. I have 2x24" monitors hooked to a single GTX770 and I play games only on one of them. It dawned on me this morning (after having three CTDs in pretty rapid succession) that Skyrim is loosing focus and coming out of full screen mode. When this happens, the game screen goes black (sometimes I see a faint colored border around the window). Then Skyrim tries like the devil to regain focus and control of the window, when doing so the border will disappear, but the rest of the game window will stay black. When Skyrim can not regain control, it simply crashes. Right up to the moment that the game window disappears, I can still hear the game music and random sounds happening, so the game is still running while the swap and failed restoration happen. I wish I could capture the failure happening because it's kind of hard to explain. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so has a fix. (I'm off to experiment with ENB window modes to see if that helps.)

SWEET!!! Thanks for the info. :)

Did you find anything about this xAtomz? I just installed Hunterborn and the Harvesting Overhaul and got this message for the first time when recreating the bashed patch. I've not fired up Skyrim to see if it in fact has caused an issue - I immediately went to Google, and that brought me here. Will do more searching and check back here later today.

Missing (black/purple) Texture? Report it here!
p4ck3tl055 replied to Farlo's question in DDSopt Support
Kelmych - Thanks for the link, I'll be sure to use it again in the future. Come to find out, the problem wasn't a missing texture, but a missing mod - SMIM! I can not believe that I missed that mod when I was putting my setup back together, but I did. As soon as I got it installed, the bridge received it's texture and everything is right in the world again. -
Missing (black/purple) Texture? Report it here!
p4ck3tl055 replied to Farlo's question in DDSopt Support
I've just started running my STEP 2.2.8 Extended based setup tonight. I found this missing texture - the stone "caps" on the bridge sides. This is the first bridge I've come to, don't know if all bridges are like this, but I suspect they are. When I look for the formid, I get 000edbc2. Here are a few screenshots of the problem area: And, here is my mod list - copied from "modlist.txt" https://pastebin.com/0eAY1VWc This is from a brand new game - maybe had 10 minutes of playtime in it. I have been doing a lot of "swapping around" with my mod list over the last few weeks though and at this point, I'm not sure what this may be caused by. (read this as, I don't know what I did to frak it up. ;) ) Thanks in advance... -
Thanks phazer, I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing a step somewhere.

When a mod is listed in the guide as having a "BCF Available"...What does that mean? Should I somehow be using them? If so how?
-
OK, here's my first "But I really want that" question. I'm a huge fan of SkyRe and I don't see it. :( I'm guessing because either Neo doesn't like it or because of all of the weapon/armor mods that are on the list. Anyone used SkyRe in conjunction with SR:LE? If so, any problems?
-
Yeah, that's basically what I'm doing. I've de-activated EVERY mod I have and am going down the list sorting and re-activating or downloading to match Neo's guide. My goal is to get SR:LE running and then I'm going to either test or ask about the remaining mods that I *must* have. But that'll probably be this weekend after the reboot and serious stability testing. I must say, I knew the guide was a time consumer (as I wrote one of my own that pales in comparison) but looking at the work that has gone into this "pack" is mind-blowing. I mean, downloading a 165MB texture mod just to pick out 4 textures because "they look better" is astounding. (not just once this happens either!!!) My respect for Neo has gone up 10 notches tonight (and I'm only now to the "modified and Extend Quests" section). I often wondered about this with the Ningheim...but I simply didn't want to loose the warpaints and eyes. I guess, after I SR:LE working and stable, I'll start looking for some replacements but I'll ask here first - and use a testing profile too!!!

As many of you can tell by my posts to this forum this week, I'm not exactly firing on all cylinders. So, before I go off and do something I'll regret later let me ask questions.... My current mod setup is somewhere between STEP Core and STEP Extended with a few mods that I've added myself because they looked cool or they sounded interesting. However, the thing isn't stable. Seldom can I last more than an hour in game before I see a CTD. Since SR:LE is very close to what I have I'm thinking of making my setup "Legendary". Question No. 1: It looks as though SR:LE is a complete revamp of STEP - quite a few of the same mods, just in different order. Am I missing something here or this as it's intended? Question No. 2: Assuming that No. 1 is as it's intended, then should I just use the mods listed in the SR:LE list? I've not made it through the entire wiki article yet, but it looks like there will be some mods that STEP uses that SR:LE doesn't. Forgive me if that is incorrect, I've not done a mod-for-mod comparison, I'm just looking at installation orders and SR:LE is different. Question No. 3: UNP Blessed bodies. I don't really prefer the bombshell, platex bra and girdle look that this mod produces, instead I prefer the UNP main body. If I continue to use the main body is that going to cause a problem? Question No. 4: The Ningheim Race and other custom races. I came across the Ningheim several months ago and I love the additional presets and warpaint. Any problems with these? If not, where should I load them? I'm assuming toward the bottom of modlist. I think what I'll do to start is disable all of the mods I have, get the order right, installing and following the guide for differing mods. When I get to the end I'll see what I have left and come back with more questions (after deciding what's worth keeping if anything). Thanks for all the hard work Neo, I'm looking forward to the Legendary experience!

Another "Clear my Head" type question
p4ck3tl055 replied to p4ck3tl055's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Never mind. I found the answer in the first few paragraphs of the wiki page: -
Just so my head is clear, can someone look at the following two statements and make sue that I have it right: "STEP Core" is all of the mods listed on the wiki page with the green vertical bar to the left. "STEP Extended" is EVERY mod listed on the wiki page. Can you tell it's been a baaad week for me?
-
Just so I can confirm what I think I know: If I move a mod up or down on the left-hand window of MO, that basically provides the same functionality as installing mods in a particular order for NMM, correct? Put another way: If I accidentally install MOD-B before MOD-A, can I move MOD-A above MOD-B and the end result would be the same as if I installed MOD-A first? The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of warping my current setup into a new profile based on SR:LE, which contains a lot of similarities, but I don't want to uninstall then re-install all of the mods to match Neovalen's installation order unless I have to.

I did a few more tests throughout the day. I have now had CTDs with both SSME and SKSE 1.7alpha on several occasions each. I am convinced that Skyrim's memory problem is not MY problem. (I will be using SKSE 1.7 moving forward - mainly because I think it's a cleaner solution and I have it installed. :) ) I thought it might be MSI Afterburner (based on some Google searches I did). I switched back to FRAPS. CTD, though the game play is smoother (I'm assuming because of the lack of/moderate amount of compression by FRAPS.) I think I've eliminated a corrupt saved game because every test I ran today started with a new game (with Live Another Life - what a great mod). So I think we're back to load order or the collection of mods that I've put together as the culprit. Or maybe something hardware related. I am overclocked after all - i5 3570k @4.4GHz. Been like that for over a year though, I can't imagine it being a problem now. At this point I'm willing to try anything, I've exhausted what little knowledge I have troubleshooting this.
-
Well, I can tell you another thing. I ran that Memory Block Log through two CTDs yesterday using SKSE 1.7. Both times when the crash occurred, the first block was running around 256 MB (I think it actually hit 259MB one of the two times). I would have thought that if the memory patch was working properly that the value for block 1 would have been well above 256MB. Both of these crashes were with a new playthrough. I copied my current profile to a new profile in MO, deleted the save-games and started a new game. To me, this fact points to either the load order or the memory issue (or some other issue that we haven't though of). I have yet to play long enough with SSME to see if, in fact, it prevents the crash or pushes it off to a point beyond the 256MB point in the log, but it is my intent to do that as soon as I finish writing this post.
-
Something else to confuse the issue a bit more. I found a mod called "Memory Block Log" (link) that tracks the use of the two blocks of memory the "memory patch" is supposed to fix. With SKSE 1.7 Alpha, no matter where I put the SKSE.INI file Skyrim always started with 512MB/256MB for the blocks. So I reverted back to SKSE 1.6.16 and added SSME, set the INI file to use 768/256 and started a game. When I looked at the log again, this time it reported the proper memory sizes for the blocks. I've not had a chance to test it extensivley since it's late. But I continue that test tomorrow morning. BTW, I installed and have BUM working, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to use the frakkin' thing - for two reasons. One I can't figure out how to tell BUM, that I want MOD-X to be the absolute bottom of the load order and I have no frakking clue as to how to order things the proper way (hence my reliance on BOSS). For now, I'm going to skip BUM until I learn more about it.
-
I do run BOSS from inside of MO. In fact I ran BOSS, rebuilt the SkyProc patches and used used WryeBash to rebuild the bashedPatch just before I uploaded those files. All of the mods listed AFTER Non-Essential Children are my own choices. I've not had any guide to tell me how to order them, so I just guessed (the modlist/left-side of MO). I always run BOSS after I install any mods and never touch the right side (plugin/loadorder side) of MO assuming that BOSS is doing the proper thing. I've not used BUM, but it looks like I need to start. I'll go check out the guide for BUM and get started on that next.
-
OK, bad news. 43 minutes into game time and CTD. I'm down to one last possibility before I give up on the playthrough and start over - the modlist and/or load order. I have been using BOSS, but maybe my compilation of mods (over and above that of STEP) is what's causing the problem. And while we're on the subject of mods, I notice that there is a "STEP Patch" mod listed at the top of 2.2.8. I've updated my list of mods over the last week to match STEP core 2.2.8. I didn't use every mod in the list, but I do use probably 90% of them (see the attached lists), should I still use the patches? Here are my mod, plugin and loadorder lists from ModOrganizer. Hopefully someone can see something and say "Hey dummy, don't do that. Do this!" modlist.txt plugins.txt loadorder.txt If this isn't the problem, I'm going to give up and say I have a corrupt save and start over.
-
Well, I discovered a couple of things about the SKSE.ini. I had the file located in the "override/SKSE" folder of ModOrganizer. Not sure if that would have been enough to make it work or not. But I also didn't have the "ClearInvalidRegistrations" line under the heading of "[General]", instead I had it under the "[Memory]" heading, so I'm sure that wasn't working like it should. I did have the memory blocks set at 768/256. I have corrected both the placement of the file (I had to create the path) and the contents to match what DanimalTwo reported. I ran the setup for a limited time last night (riding my horse from Whiterun to Merida's Statue and back. No issues, but I'm not sure that simple trip would have caused a problem anyway. This morning I took a stroll around Falkreath Hold both walking and riding. I ran into a few random encounters - including two gargoyles (which I've never fought before) - and everything ran fine. I played about 45 minutes. I'm going to be using DDSopt today to optimize at least the Vanilla and HRDLC textures according the Neovalen's SR:LE guide in the hope of reducing the load on my video card and gaining a few FPS. Once that's done, I'm going to be going into full game mode and see what happens. Hopefully I'll be able to report smooth sailing later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks again for all those who have chimed in!

What does this line do? I know I have the other three lines, just not sure of the 512/768 setting.
