Right, which I have. Two blocks of memory, one twice the size of the other. I think mine is set to 512MB and 256MB. I'd need to be home to verify that though. If memory serves there are three lines in my SKSE.ini file - two that define the block sizes and one that dumps references or something. Again, I'll need to see the actual file to be sure.

I'm using SKSE 1.7 Alpha, which I think has the memory patch built into it. I'm also using ENB Boost (as part of RealVision).

Last night I was able to clean every mod that BOSS said needed it. I played (using a "clean save") for about 3.5 hours last night. In that time, I had 2 CTD and 1 ILS. This was the first ILS I've experienced since I re-installed Skyrim in December. The "Clean Save" was created using the 31-day technique and not a new save. My CTDs are completely random and seem to be based on time in game, occurring after 45-60 minutes of playtime. I can tell that the CTD is close because the game starts to stutter - like it's saving or loading data for an extended period of time. I'm not certain if 2 CTDs in 3 hours is a "normal" thing with a modded game, but it's enough to frustrate me. I'd love to hear if there are other things that I can do to reduce these crashes. I'm to the point where I think my save is toast and maybe the only recourse I have is to start over. I'd obviously prefer not to do that if I can avoid it, but if that is what it's going to take, then I'll do that to get a stable/playable setup.

The Blades: Improving the Story

I touched CK one afternoon and was amazed at how crummy the thing really is. It's a wonder that Skyrim ever got developed at all if this is what Bethesda used to create it. I mean the very first thing I see when I fired it up: ERROR....which is NORMAL! I never could open any of the DLCs with it. As much as T5E scares me, CK scares me more. I did get a quest made that utilized the built-in courier working, but I definitely did NOT enjoy the experience. I'll stick to playing and not creating for now. -
Awesome, I'll begin the cleaning process tonight.

I've been using STEP since almost the day I started playing Skyrim in 2012. One thing that has scared me to death is TES5Edit. I'm always afraid I'll royally screw things up with it. So, I've avoided it - like the plaque. Now, I'm sick of CTD. I know there is no cure for them, but I would love to be able to minimize them. So, with that in mind, I'm here asking for someone to help the n00b. I've watched Gopher's video on TES5Edit - where he cleans the official master files (here). I found STEP's TES5Edit guide (here). It all looks pretty simple. Is this really all there is to it? Run BOSS, identify the mods that need cleaned, run the cleaning as described above? A question concerning the use of TES5Edit and ModOrganizer: I use MO to run multiple playthroughs simultaneously. (i.e. two or three characters) I do have one profile that I call "testing" where I try new mods out before I apply them to the other profiles. If I "clean" mods with the "testing" profile, should I then just need to activate them in the other profiles?

The Blades: Improving the Story

One of these days, I'm really going to have to learn to use TES5Edit and figure out what all this "patch" business is about. :) -
The Blades: Improving the Story

Thanks everyone. I found "MadFrenchie" on the Nexus. I'll probably use those mods at some point. As far as the SHT, I only mentioned the mod I did because of the additional Blades recruiting. Not sure I want to turn SHT into a mini town. Not sure it should be, the Blades are supposed to be a covert order after all. If anyone has a recommendation for improving the Blades experience (more covert operations, Dragon Killing, etc.) please let me know. I'll be continuing my search. -
The Blades: Improving the Story

Can you tell me which chapter/part of Richard's story your talking about? I've only watched Chapter 1 so far, I'll skip ahead to see what he ran into. (I'm going to skip all of chapter two because I've not played through Dragonborn yet.) -
In my playthrough, I play the son of Acilius Bolar, the only blade to escape the decimation of Cloud Ruler Temple. When I enter Bloated Man's Grotto and find Bolar's Writ and Oathblade, I'm going to seek out vengeance on the empire (Dark Brotherhood) and the Thalmor (??). To help that along, I've been looking at a way to enrich the blades story line - either by extending what they do as part of the main quest or by making the Thalmor more prevalent in Skyrim. I've come across a few mods that seem to fill the niche, but before I run off and install them, I'd like to know if anyone else has used them and how they fare with STEP (in my case 2.2.7). The Blades: -- "Recruit More Blades - SkyHavenTempleEnchanced" https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11750/? The Thalmor: -- "Adal Matar, the lost Stronghold" https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=75662068 -- "The Frontier to Cyrodiil" https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=87242447 -- "The Aldmeri Domain - Fight Against the Thalmor III" https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33261/? -- "The Hawk's Nest" https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=108427245 Concern: The mods held on the Steam Workshop bother me as I use MO to handle my game and I'm not sure how to handle mods like this when it comes to load order and things. (any help on that front would be helpful) Any opinions, reviews, and recommendations as it pertains to my story would be welcomed. Does anyone know if they all of these mods are compatible with each other...meaning can I install them all? Thanks in advance...

I'm trying my hand at the creation kit - to support my let's play story. Â I need a courier's note to spawn in the courier's container upon the player reaching a certain level. Â In fact I'd like to have multiple events like this, at different levels of course. I've got the courier working and delivering the first note, but I've got it set to happen upon the game starting, which of course means that it happens immediately. Â I need to know how to change this so it happens after the player reaches a certain level. If needed I can upload my esp file somewhere - it's only got the single encounter in it. If anyone could show me an example, or point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.

I've been using Skyrim Redone for my latest play though and I'm really enjoying it. I'm concerned though that the mod has altered some quests so that they can not be completed until a certain level (I've heard this on some YouTube vids). Â Assuming that this is the case, I'm wondering if there is a resource somewhere that describes which quests shouldn't be attempted until a certain level. Does anyone know if a). This concern is valid and b). If such a resource exists and if so, where it may be. Thanks in advance...

I'm using AA and AF supplied by Phinix Natural ENB. Â I think the AA is provided by Sweet FX and AF is supplied by ENB itself. Â At least that's the way I read it in the enblocal.ini.enblocal.ini
-
Looked in the INI and it all looked fine - until I stumbled across this guide.  I followed several of it's recommendations about the Skyrim.ini and the enblocal.ini, mainly because I'm running the alpha version of SKSE which incorporates the memory patch. I also cleaned the main Bethesda ESMs as shown in Gopher's video in that same guide. One other thing that I changed, I disabled AA and AF in the nVidia driver (using nVidia Inspector).  THIS helped a TON.  This setting change alone eliminated the mini-stutters and a screen tearing effect that I saw when rotating the camera quickly. I also reduced a handful of texture mods to 1k versions. Played and recorded all night - about 3.5 hours - I had the smoothest night of my life.  No CTD, only two stutters of the medium variatey as  I roamed the tundra of Whiterun hunting for deer and elk.  Load screens are much quicker now - probably because of the smaller textures. I'll play for another couple of days and see how things go.
-
Interesting. Â I did set the proper memory for my card in the enblocal.ini file, but pretty much left everything else alone. Â I'll go back and check it out the remainder of the file tonight. Â If that doesn't help, then I'll start looking for 1k versions of the textures that I have. Just so I'm clear in my head: 1). The mixed BSA and loose file arrangement that I have is not a problem? 2). Using DDSOpt is not going to help me? I'll report back after I dig into my ini file.

My modded configuration is based on STEP 2.2.7 (You can see my complete setup here.), and I'm pretty happy with it. BUT.... Â (There's always a but, huh?) I have a LOT of stuttering. Not micro-stutters, (Although I'm sure that's happening too. Not tested for it) but lagging while the game does something - I think loading textures. Let me try to explain by describing a fairly repeatable situation: I can walk into Whiterun, climb the steps to the left, pass the stone wall and look to the right. Â As soon as I move the camera to the right, my game just freezes for a split second. Â It recovers rather quickly, and all is normal afterwards. During that "freeze", my framerate drops from mid-50s to as low 12, then bounces back up. These "stutters" happen at seemingly random places and vary in intensity. Â Most just make the game feel not as smooth as normal while moving. Â Some - like the Whiterun one above - are more pronounced and literately bring the game to a halt for a split-second. Â The very worst of these actually feel like lagging and last for several seconds. At any rate, my previous computer did this as well, with a very similar mod load. Â My current computer is beefier with 4x RAM, 2x VRAM, a ton of additional GPU power, and the OS/game are loaded on an SSD which my testing indicates has at least 5x the performance of my prior RAID0 setup. Â This makes me think that I'm hitting the 3.1GB limit for Skyrim itself or I've got something wrong somewhere. To that end, I'm looking for any advice to help reduce or eliminate these stumbles. One thing that I'm curious about. Â I've told Mod Organizer to extract BSAs for all the mods that it installs. Â But I DID NOT extract the BSAs for the original game, the DLCs or the HD Texture packs that came down from Steam when I installed Skyrim. Â Could this be part of it? Would optimizing the textures (with DDSOpt or Optimizer Texture or the like) help? Â I'm pretty sure that, when given the option, I chose 2048 textures for everything but character textures. Â I chose 4096 for skin and face textures when available. Â Maybe that's it? Grab the 1024 textures for most things???? Â (I'm recording a let's play based on this setup and I really want it to look great, which is why I did that.) Could it be something else? I'm using the latest nVidia drivers, the most up to date DirectX, latest MSI Afterburner beta, ENB 246 and the latest Phinix Natural ENB (I know my guide says RealVision, but that was yesterday. LOL.) I'd say 90% of the time this stuttering isn't a problem, but the other 10% is simply driving me crazy.

Just FYI, I think I found my problem...  I was using "Balbor and Steelsouls SkyRe ReProccer Project", which only includes patches for v6 of Immersive Armor.  This was breaking the mod and preventing the menu from appearing.  I switched to "SkyRe Compatibility and ReProccer Patches" and started a new game and all appears to be well.  (For now....) Thanks to all who offered help.  And thanks to all the STEP community for providing this resource!

Installed what correctly? Â IA? I think so. Â But I can retry the installation. Â Back in a few.I re-installed IA - it's a FOMOD install so pretty much a no-brainer. Â Works just as I remembered it. Â No change. However, I was looking the the posts on the IA NEXUS page and like 5 pages deep, I found this command: "setstage ski_configmanagerinstance 1" I have no idea hat it's supposed to do, but, I ran it and when it completed, Skyrim reported "15 new menus registered". Â Problem is, I can only see 14 of them. Â The missing one is IA. Hoping someone with much more experience with SKSE, SkyUI and MCM than me can explain that command and why it reports 15 menus when there are only 14.
-
Fail...again. I finished loading the remainder of my mods (236 mods, 131 plugins) and now IA is missing again from the MCM menu. Â I added Wet and Cold, Convenient Horses, Ultimate Follower Overhaul and Trade and Barter. Â All of them show up in the MCM mneu, although T&B doesn't have any sub-menus. The rest of them work. I believe the armors are working - I do see them in the game. But I was hoping to prevent several of them from being included from my play-through. Â It's not a show stopper if all of them ARE in the game, but I would enjoy it more if they weren't.
-
Well, even though I only have 119 plugins loaded, it appears as though this IS the problem. Â I installed the 1.7 Alpha of SKSE and BAM! Â Immersive Armour immediately started to build its MCM menu. My only problem now is that I'm in the middle of recording a Let's Play...should I really depend on Alpha-version software? How lucky do I feel that the moment? Â Â :)
