In case this helps anyone out...I'm finally back up and running again with 1.30 and all mods (Primer was the last one I was waiting for). It looks like all mods Neo has in W3R have been officially updated for 1.30 except for:

  • AutoLoot
  • KNGR's More Blood

Those two have a compatibility fix via the UNOFFICIAL 1.30 Mod Update Project.

These next 4 mods appear to work fine without any compatibility updates, so I'm using the latest version that was already identified or linked in Neo's guide.

  • Improved Sign Effects (used the fixed version linked in Neo's guide)
  • More Shadows
  • No More Rolling Down Stairs
  • Selectable Main Menu

I'm also still using the extra mods I mentioned in my earlier post and everything appears to be working fine but note two of them haven't been updated and may not need an update (Ultra Grass 420 and Realistic Wind Effect).

Just a couple other notes:

Ramccoid, the author of BLOOD, WEATHER, and SPLASH has updated those 3 mods with improved normal maps / alphas. He also said he's going to work on the unreleased extras that were in his ALL mod, but that mod is currently hidden, so I'm just using the old version of ALL still.

Oddly, there seems to be even more of a mod limit than there was with previous patches. I experienced the issue where I would launch the game and it would never open, but Task Manager showed witcher3.exe was running. This was because I had hit some sort of limit, even though I had all the same mods I was using just fine with 1.24. After learning about this and also discovering there is a new Witcher 3 Mod Merger tool, I decided to try it out and merge more of the texture mods into one. After I did, the game ran beautifully. The following are all the texture mods I merged with this tool.

modALL-UnreleasedStuff (from ALL mod)

modBLOOD (from BLOOD mod)

modCiriLoreFriendlyFull (from Lore Friendly Witchers mod)

modCiriPortrait (from Lore Friendly Witchers mod)

modGeraltChestHair (from Chest hair for Geralt mod)

modGeraltHairWorksRealBeard (from Geralt HairWorks mod)

modGeraltHWhiteBeard (from Geralt HairWorks mod)

modGeraltRealHWhair (from Geralt HairWorks mod)

modGerskin (from Lore-friendly Witchers mod)

modGerskinHoS (from Lore-friendly Witchers mod)

modHDReworkedProject (from Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project mod)

modSPLASH (from SPLASH mod)

modWEATHER (from WEATHER mod)

modWitchereye (from Lore-friendly Witchers mod)

NOTE: There were a couple texture conflicts (some water/wave medium and small normal map files) between ALL and HD Reworked Project, but since it was only a couple I still merged them anyway to reduce the total mods. It's probably optional to merge those but I haven't checked if the game will still load without HD Reworked merged. Also in the log of the Mod Merger tool I noticed there were some errors and failed messages, but it finished successfully and I honestly don't know if they were anything to be concerned about. I will be keeping an eye out for any problems in the game, but based on initial checks after loading many of my saved files I didn't notice anything obvious so far.

Finally, I don't know if it's just me, but it looks like some of the .ini tweaks Neo has in his guide were changed back to default, which I'm guessing was due to the patch ...or could be because I used Steam to verify the integrity of my game cache...don't know which. I just went back through the guide to fix any settings that were missing or wrong, but there weren't too many.

For the script merging part of the guide, how would I select two the lines from two different mods?:

  • Conflict 1: Select Line(s) From B and C
  • Conflict 2: Select Line(s) From B and C

When KDiff3 opens, the bottom will show the conflicting row highlighted in yellow. Right-click the yellow line and choose B, then right-click the same yellow highlight again (notice B will show selected this time) and choose C. Now the conflicting lines from both mods B and C will be added. From there you just save and close KDiff3.

Thankyou, I was able to get it to work. However now i'm getting some error codes when opening up the witcher:

I tried re merging every conflict with primer, but i'm still getting the above error. I think it is possible something to do with the new primer update??? Do you know how I could fix this?

I'm not sure. I just downloaded and installed the latest Primer (1.15.1) and it's working fine for me. Make sure you have copied the bin and DLC folders from \Mods\modPrimer into the main Witcher 3 path and overwrite any files if prompted. Also make sure you merged everything except \game\gui\menus\alchemyMenu.ws. In Script Merger there are a couple xml file conflicts related to Primer and Gear Improvement Last Longer (under "Bundled Text") that also need to be merged.

Double checked everything, still getting the same error message, I know it has something to do with the giuTooltipComponent of Primer, which the game thinks its referencing a function which doesn't exist. Should the function be included in the games files somewhere or do you know if there is a way I can add the function in?

Look at Primers instructions... there is an additional manual edit if using GOTY (1.31).

Guide has now been updated for patch 1.30... still have a TBD on which mods to merge but personally I didn't have to do any merges to make the game work this time around.

Edit: Apparently I spoke too soon, looks like I'll have to determine which mods to merge now. :)

Edit2: Things are now in a fully working state. Let me know if any obvious errors.

Would it be compatible with the 1.31 goty ? a friend bought it and he asked.

Yes I believe so. You may need to do some additional steps for scripted mods for compatibility (Primer, etc.). Check various mod pages for details.

So I guess i'm confused about a few things.

1) in my mod folder, I still have the mods that were utilized for the texture merging.  Trying to disable them via nexus created a horrible mess, so I redid everything and currently I have them visible in the folder (As well as the merged file).

2) The script merger outputs the above posts error log.  I'm guessing its friendlyhud/primer again.  Ive rdl'd the files twice, copied the bin/dlcs to the game directory as stated in order, did the scriptmerge, then dl'd the patch and I still get the above every single time.  Just to confirm, I have 13 merges in total.

I was wondering if it might be my game directory that had relic files from the previous install.  Did you get steam to reverify game integrity?

Just to be sure.. Following the guide, after I use the modmerger tool, I suppose that I use nexus manager to deactivate the old files?

Nope, leave the old files alone. The mod merger handles this by renaming the original files in the mods then undoes those changes when you hit [unmerge All]. Since its renaming the files the mod manager doesn't know where those files are and thus won't remove them.

Its really hard to say about script errors, but safe to say there must be an error or missed step someplace.

1) This is good.

2) There could be old script files that haven't been updated... could try reverify game integrity... you may need to do ini tweaks again.
