In general using ENBoost only really works if you have more then 4Gb of RAM. so i could set this to 2048, but none of [the 3 files placed in ../skyrim, as per ENBoost quickstart guide] is going to have any noticeable effect anyway (barring a RAM upgrade)? i assume the more in-depth, ENBseries adjustments would be more worthwhile (and correspondingly time-consuming)?
Aiyen Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 What ENBoost does is allow you to run skyrim with textures so the total cost is higher than 4Gb of memory.. if you do not have more than 4Gb there is not much point in it. You might get a bit better load times etc. but that really depends on just how much better your graphics card is relative to your other components. The rest of ENB is mainly just if you want to alter the visuals of the game, and add a few new effects not in the default game.
Aiyen Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Guess this is as good a time as any to really suggest this. tapioks over at the ENB forums have made a nice series of various videos showcasing what each thing does... I dunno if this is something we want to link to in the guide. Would probably be a bit better then still shots. Any thoughts from the wiki specialists?
TechAngel85 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Already following the series, but haven't decide to include them yet or not. If included, they'd only be an overview of an effect since the videos don't go into detail for each parameter.

Aiyen Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 You can start be disabling the auto detect feature and input numbers on your own by trial and error to find what works best with your setup. Also it is a good call to not use any monitor software while playing.. since they might be the cause themselves. Also ENB already allows you an FPS counter ingame. By freezeups I assume you mean stuttering, which can be improved by altering the values manually. CTD´s can be anything.. most often some incompatibility or lack of a proper general patch for your list. Looking at your list you do have a few issues I could point out. 1st on the list... if you can live without open cities.. do it. That concept is just not worth it imo. Cities are massive and complex areas.. and there is a reason they have their own worldspace entirely. Especially when you also run all those scripted mods you do. It would not be unthinkable that your CTD´s would go down if it was not used. 2nd... why are you using both the CoT interior plugin as well as the RLO ones ? You will want the RLO ones only I would imagine. 3rd.. whatever that autosave manger and latency checker is... just remove that. In a stable list there is no point in using such things at all, and again they will most likely just add to issues by being there.
qwert_44643 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 freeze ups i mean the screen just freezes and i have to alt, tab, delete out to shut it down.Yeah i noticed an improvement when i wasnt running skyrim performance monitor.I always wanted to try open cities will consider your suggestions tho.As far as the Cot Interior and RLO interior plugins....good question il look into it and see if i can remove one or what not.Ive been seriously considering removing the autosave manager and latency checker as ive been noticing weird behaviors with the auto save manager. Thanks for your suggestions.
qwert_44643 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Im using screen resolution 1280x720(letterbox),i read somewhere a while back that playing in this resolution will free up alot of performance and im just wondering if using enboost does this low of resolution really make a difference?
TechAngel85 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 A) Be sure ENBoost is detecting the correct card on startup and not using your Intel integrated graphics. B) Ensure SKSE memory patch is set up and working C) Try these memory settings:[MEMORY] ReservedMemorySizeMb=256 VideoMemorySizeMb=8192 EnableCompression=true AutodetectVideoMemorySize=falseYou want ReservedMemorySizeMb to be as low as possible and I've never seen anyone need to run it at 1024. You also want EnableCompression to be set to true if at all possible. This will reduce memory usage. There are two things I like to know:What texture resolutions are you using? What is your graphics card?
qwert_44643 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Im using an AMD Radeon R9 200 seriesEnboost is detecting when i boot up it states the card.I dont know how to tell what textures im using except for the following:Resolution :1280x720(letterbox)Texture Quality:Medium I did download Tamriel Reloaded Grasses Field Grass Edition 1.1 theres an option 1k texture file....maybe i should grab that.Il put those settings you recommended in.
TechAngel85 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Texture resolution I have referring to is 1K, 2K, 4K textures when you download a mod and install it. If you plan on playing at such a low monitor resolution, then you will not need anything over 1K textures. This will reduce memory load and as a result, reduce stuttering.
qwert_44643 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Would playing at a higher resolution make that big of a difference if i had my enboost settings all messed up cuz now its running good with all the recommendations ive received.
Aiyen Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Higher playing resolution means more performance cost... the higher you go the more strain you put on your system. Hence it becomes harder to avoid all types of stuttering etc.
TechAngel85 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 If it's running more smoothly now, you can try bumping it up to the next resolution and see how things go. Changing monitor resolutions won't harm anything. If it doesn't work out, simply revert it back and all will be good.
qwert_44643 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Ijust wanted to take the time and say thank you to all who helped me...i havent had 1 freeze up or ctd since listening and applying the changes you all advised....im so happy to play and well thanks.qwert
