skwareballz Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Economics of Skyrim by Thomas Kaira I've been wanting to recommend this mod for a while, but it had to many conflicts until rencently. Basically, this mod will make Skyrim more regionalized in terms of it's economy. Prices will be determined by the available resources in the area. Here is the author's description: You have arrived at your local Blacksmith, and are shopping for new toys, armor, whatever it is you want. Ever notice something odd? Like how every single blacksmith seems to have exactly the same items in stock? Well, that’s because they do. Every major merchant in the game have their shops stocked based on a single boilerplate arrangement of leveled lists, which both randomizes their stock and it is also rather obviously scaled to match your level. It works, but is very inelegant and can raise a few eyebrows when the smith who had nothing but low-grade Steel one day suddenly has a boatload of Ebony gear the next. Wouldn't it make much more sense for the merchants to stock items based on the resources available to them in whichever region they are found? These are not modern times, merchants do not rely on buying things from other people to sell; they sell what they make. I, for one, feel the game's economy should reflect that. That is where this mod comes in. And now, it's better than ever! Gone are the old issues with unusable ingots and duplicated items! The mod has received a total makeover, literally rebuilt from the ground up. This means you can be assured a much better economic experience than before. ---NEW AS OF V1.2 AND FIXED BY V1.2.3--- Smithing Services:Blacksmiths will now have dialog options to take weapon and armor orders. They will also offer full sets of armor. Vanilla weapons and armor only.Blacksmiths will temper weapons and armor. The price is set by the materials needed to temper the equipment. To temper an iron dagger the price would match an iron ingot. Vanilla weapons and armor only.Merchant gold, smithing dialog not showing, and pricing in The Pale all fixed.Just look at the nexus page with a list of all the tweaks this mod makes to Skyrim. The best part is that the mod doesn't make Skyrim feel like different game, so it still has the same feel with a much more dynamic economy. It requires SKSE and recently went through a rebuild so it no longer edits the base merchant containers which maximizes compatibilty with mods that add to a vendor's list of goods. It is BAIN ready and the level lists can be merged into Bashed Patch which makes EoS even more compatible with other mods. You don't need a new game, just install and when you start up Skyrim you will get a coin in your inventory which will give you an array of options. Items can recieve regional values that change from one hold to the next for both buying and selling, and there is also an option to increase the amount of gold merchants have. They can have 0, 500, 1000, 2000, or 5000 extra gold depending on your preference. Complete armor sets will also be made available in merchant lists for purchase.
frihyland Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Yep, this was just rebuilt from the ground up, I'll definitely be checking this one out.
Besidilo Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 This mod is fundamental for the way I play Skyrim. It's a shame Skyrim Trade Guild is no longer developed.
MadWizard25 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I remember similar mods in Oblivion, and this def needs to happen in Skyrim. My shop inventories are a mess, not least helped by armor and wep mods, and have not had the time to tweak that. This should help!
Neovalen Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 This mod has recently been updated. Thinking about giving it a try as it looks interesting... -v1.2.3: 08/14/2012 - Fixed Bug: Extra Merchant Gold was not working due to the needed leveled lists going missing at some point in development. - Fixed Bug: Leveled List swapping detection script had an incorrect Location specified for The Pale - Fixed Bug: Blacksmith services was not initializing correctly for previous version. - Compatibility Tweak/Fixed Bug: Regional Stocks was redesigned again to avoid problems with merchants supplying nothing. The EOS leveled lists now piggyback onto the vanilla lists instead of replacing them. This also means this mod is compatible with other mods that want to rebalance the vendors, too. - Other: Replaced several Debug messages with Message record messages, for easier translation.
frihyland Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 yay, I was waiting on those fixes for a while. Now I can recommend it for a gameplay pack.
skwareballz Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 Smiths now offer smithing services, who would of thought that might need to be in the game? I noticed it works with mods that add items to vendor's lists, but the smithing services only work for vanilla items.
