Hello, and thank you in advance for the assistance.

I've been following the Step 2.3 guide, with some minor adjustments to accommodate the fact that I have the GoG edition, v1.6.1179.0 (only two deviations were made, for two mods that specifically indicated having 1179 builds for their mods), and am now stuck at step 6.

I find myself stuck in a loop. When I run SKSE from MO2, it goes back to the grass caching task, resuming at 677,820 items, and runs through the same section of generations, for "world 41". It appears to be about 100 records or so, they're of course just flying through the console too fast to really count, but it always ends with this bit: https://imgur.com/a/SQL0774.

I found this other post:

Which pointed out a specific setting in the GrassControl.ini, and in reviewing my own ini I discovered that I had, in fact, missed two settings, Extend-grass-count = false and Only-pregenerate-world-spaces = . I fixed those, ran the pre-cacher again, it pickedup once more from 677,820, generated the same world 41 sections, and gave me the "cahce is finished" message.

But still, trying to run the game using SKSE from MO2 goes back to the grass caching process, trying to resume from 677,820, running through world 41, and giving me the same "cache process is finished" message at the end

Does anyone know what I've buggered up?

OK, I found this reddit post that suggested removing the file "grassprecache.txt in overwrite". I found my grassprecache.txt in C:\Games\Skyrim Mods\SKSE Output\Root\ and renamed it *.bak, and now the game is loading.

I'm going to proceed with Step 6, but if I've monumentally messed up, can someone let me know? Thanks all.

It sounds like your grass cache never generated completely or generated a buggy worldspace that should have been excluded. I recommend deleting the SKSE64/grass folder in MO and rebuilding the cache. Since you are running GOG, I'm not sure that the worldspace omissions are correct.

Are you running Root Builder? C:\Games\Skyrim Mods\SKSE Output\Root\ seems wrong, so either GOG or something like Root Builder may have something to do with that. Obviously, our guide doesn't support GOG, and we don't use that version of the game, so there could be specifics for GOG getting in the way or causing confusion.

I've never noticed grassprecache.txt, so no idea if that is always generated and deleted after successful cache generation ... or where it is generated. It makes sense that it is temporary and created/read by the GrassPrecacher.py or MO. You can try following our more comprehensive Grass LOD Guide to understand how to exclude worldspaces for GOG and some other things that may come to light.
