I'm genuinely at a loss, everytime i try and run the texgen tool in vortex i get hit with an error "skyrim.ini  can not be found" I am running skyrim gog anniversary edition. In my documents I have three skyrim folders "skyrim special edition" "skyrim special edition GOG" and "Skyrim.INI" looking at them it appears the ini files are in the "GOG" folder, I am also wondering if the issue could be because my actual games data is in the "program files (86)"

Read the first post and/or https://dyndolod.info/Official-DynDOLOD-Support-Forum#Post-Logs which DynDOLOD log and debug log to upload when making posts.

https://dyndolod.info/Installation-Instructions
See Skyrim Special Edition GOG / Skyrim Anniversary Edition GOG in case the GOG version of the game is used.

https://dyndolod.info#Skyrim-Special-Edition-GOG-Skyrim-Anniversary-Edition-GOG or https://dyndolod.info/Mods/Skyrim-Special-Edition-GOG-Skyrim-Anniversary-Edition-GOG:
Use the -m, -p and -d command line arguments to set the INI, plugins.txt and Data paths when starting the tools. For example:
-m:"c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition GOG\"
-p:"c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Skyrim Special Edition GOG\plugins.txt"
-d:"c:\GOG Games\Skyrim Special Edition GOG\Data\"
Replace [USERNAME] and the INI and Data folder paths accordingly for the actual setup.
Do not link to files or folders in mod manager profiles. Link to the files and folders used by the game.

Sorry if this is not the correct place for this question but In regards to updating my LOD I have a few questions. I swapped out my tree overhaul and a few other visuals. Also changing my Dyndolod preset to medium from high. I ran Texgen for Occlusion data, so Dyndolod has the occlusion data box checked and greyed out and the official instructions say it will update that occlusion data automatically. does that hold true even when swapping out mods, and changing presets? or should I disable the occlusion plugin, run Dyndolod then regen occlusion?

https://dyndolod.info/Help/Occlusion-Data
In case of updating an existing DynDOLOD installation with a separate Occlusion.esp, also keep Occlusion.esp activated and make sure it loads last right after DynDOLOD.esp. The Occlusion data and Plugin checkboxes will be checked automatically.

If the Occlusion data and Plugin checkboxes are checked, occlusion data for the selected worldspaces will be generated as usual.

Hello!

Trying to run Dyndolod after following the guide and I believe I've weeded out all of the problematic mods, but I've got an error that doesn't point to something specific and I don't know where to start looking to correct it:

This error can happen if a plugin contains deleted references. Every plugin containing deleted references should be cleaned.

Check the DynDOLOD log and summary for messages about deleted references. Clean the mentioned plugins. See https://dyndolod.info/Messages/Deleted-Reference

Unclear which guide you are referring to.

Been using the old DynDoLod for ages but needed to use 3 for someone's new mod and I have to say, these unannounced forced updates when all I want to do is a quick update on my dam'ed LOD is maddening AF.

Always use the latest versions. Newer versions fix bugs, contain updated/new assets and configuration files to support the (sometimes still updated) vanilla game and for existing, new or updated mods. Using the latest version and providing feedback or reporting problems is a requirement to participate in the alpha test. Do not waste time using older versions or reporting problems with older versions. Participating in the alpha test requires to report any problems to the official DynDOLOD support forum. Older versions will automatically stop working after several months to facilitate the cathedral modding process and to protect the community from detrimental behavior and users from themselves. The only sane and common sense modding and development method of free tools is to report bugs or problems, have them fixed in a new version and solved in the official DynDOLOD support forum.

https://dyndolod.info/FAQ#Older-versions

If you are unable to pay the "price" required to use the tool I share for free, then you should not use it.

Hello Sheson,

Thanks for the quick reply!

I was trying to follow this guide: https://dyndolod.info/ (including all of the linked pages/instructions). I've cleaned every pluging that LOOT has instructed me to clean.

Here is the link to the relevant files you asked for, as well as an image of something I may have found in xEdit (still new to the program, so trying to figure some of these things out myself, as well).

I will continue to go through the information you've provided in the meantime.

The upload includes the TexGen log and debug log instead the logs for DynDOLOD.

The xEdit screenshot shows that the Forest Nymphs.esm plugin "deleted" the reference. Clean it with the xEdit Quickautoclean mode.

ct15cc-TundraHomesteadExpandedBBBLuxuryPatch.esp
Dibella Baths Location Patch.esp
ezPG - Emberveil.esp
Fabled Noble House Patch.esp
FilthyHeritage.esp
Forest Nymphs.esm
Seascale.esl
SexLab_Dialogues.esp
SlaversKeep.esp
TeenDolls - Mhavragch.esp
TRX - Statue CandiGirl.esp
TRX - Statue TriumphOfTheBeast.esp
TRX - Statue TrixieIdealBalance.esp
TRX - Statue TrixieJoke.esp
TRX - Statue TrixieTankard.esl
TRX - Statue TrixieWitchFlight.esl

Consider to only use mods from mod authors that know how to make proper plugins.

Is there a way to know this ahead of time?

I'm really new to this and I basically just download whatever a mod says is a requirement and I end up with a huge bloated list of stuff I don't really care for, but it's needed for that particular mod. And then uninstalling a mod that I find out mid game is garbage breaks the whole game. Is it really just trial and error until you get what you want/like in the end?

A method is to use xEdit filter:
left tree view, right click, select Apply Filter
check "deleted" in the left
check "by Record Signature" in the middle and in the list select REFR - Placed Object
everything else unchecked
Once applied, the left tree view will list all plugins containing deleted references.

Modding is a lot of trial and error unless you follow a modding guide (and stick to it) or download a pre-made list.

Ok, that's easy enough to understand! Thank you for the advice/guidance. Will clean all plugins and report back if I still have issues!
