Installing *just* the graphical improvements?

While I'm waiting for the guide to be updated for AE(because for some reason my SE install is beyond hope) is there any way I can go about installing *only* the graphical improvements? Like, just the textures and the like? Or do I need the CR patches and all the .dll plugins and stuff for that, too?

If I'm stuck on this edition without wanting to muck with it too much, I'd like to at least have the graphical updates.

Or am I just an idiot asking? Not the most savvy modder but I really *really* miss how pretty my skyrim was.

Sure you can do that. Note that any meshes/textures that include plugins may or may not need patching, but if they're just meshes/textures, then no harm.

Love how the guide made my game look and it'll give me my fix til it's fully updated. 

Is DynDOLOD working or should I skip that?
