Is it necessary to download the large 1.4 file and then a particular type and size in addition to that?

 

My gut tells me that it is not, since I downloaded both and viewed the folders---the large file seems to include types A, B, and C. Just want to confirm. I wish mod authors would be clearer about these things, since many mods have a larger main file that's required and then various optional files.
