Question

Posted

I am trying to make a CR patch for Fallout 4. I forwarded a few records into my CR patch called Razors CR patch and saved it and my patch showed up in the overwrite folder like normal, So I made a mod called Razors CR patch and moved the esp into it. So than I loaded up FO4Edit again to forward more changes into my CR patch, Only this time when I save and exit I get a warning saying " Could not delete E\Steam\Steamapp\common\Falklout4\data\Razors CR patch". What am I doing wrong

To be clear, you removed the new *.esp from the overwrite folder, made a new archive which you then imported to and installed within MO2?

Also does that new *.esp exist within the official data folder? Are you running FO4Edit through MO2? If so why would FO4 be looking at the actual data folder at all?

I just found the paths that FO4Edit is using. I am thinking that a couple of them should bee pointing to MO2. examples are the ini path.

FO4Edit log.txt

Using Fallout4 Data Path: E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\
Using ini: G:\Razor\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Fallout4.ini
Using save path: G:\Razor\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Saves\
Using plugin list: C:\Users\Razor\AppData\Local\Fallout4\Plugins.txt
Using settings file: C:\Users\Razor\AppData\Local\Fallout4\Plugins.fo4viewsettings
Loading active plugin list: C:\Users\Razor\AppData\Local\Fallout4\Plugins.txt

I also do not understand why it is referencing my C drive when MO2 is on my F drive

Those paths are fine. Remember when you call xEdit from within MO/MO2 the paths are forwarded to it and it "sees" them as what you have listed here.

As to you original post. Is that the exact error message? Are you sure it wasn't asking about a temp file?

If it is the exact message then xEdit is being told to delete the same plugin that you are trying to edit. Sometimes if you perform multiple tasks on a plugin in the same session the programme bugs out.

In any case providing the logs from this session will help us see what is happening.

What is the difference between Copy Overwrite into, and Copy as record into? Can you also post a spoiler tag, I am not sure if I know how to do it right

Sorry for my absence. I'm not sure what exactly you are doing but this should actually be fairly straight forward. The file in your overwrite folder is it's own mod, correct? You've created something new? A NEW *.esp that will be added to your load order? If that is the case then use WinRar or 7zip (or w/e) to create an archive out of that new esp you created. Call it w/e you want. Then just drag and drop that new archive directly into MO2's DOWNLOAD tab. Install it as normal. Sort and organize it's load order and priority, etc. Then delete everything in your overwrite folder.

As for the error you are/were getting, I still do not understand why XEdit is looking for the game's actual data folder. I can speculate but every theory involves using your tools incorrectly.

In any case, I do hope your problem has been resolved and am more than willing to offer more late semi-useless advice in the future.

;)

Cheers
