Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

Recommended Posts

I'd rather spend all my time dealing with mod conflicts and CTDs then spend one second playing the vanilla game.  That said, I'm testing out Immersive Horses now...

Amazing quote, cstarkey! We need that to be the Nexus header! Or; "Thanks Bethesda, but we'll take it from here!"

What difficulty setting are you guys and ladies using to play Skyrim. I kind of think the fights are easy. With the exception of the first dragon battle. I have been playing on adept.

Adept is best. If you need more difficulty tweak SIC, DD, and/or OBIS in MCM.

It's more of a "hey, maybe we should watch development", then "hey, I use this". I like to give mods some time to get tested by the community. If the features are on par or better then CH, then it might be worth switching over in SR:LE. I'm up for anything that drops some scripts or is at least more optimized.

Really looking forward to Frostfalls update with the supposed streamlined script response time. Chesko is attempting to make his amazing mod have even better performance with better features. My computer, mainly my graphics card, still can't handle SR:LE very well. Vividian Performance destroys my fps, but it really is a masterpiece. Pro-tip; if you have imaginator installed adding 3-5 ticks in the "Cool midnight" tab makes cities look almost life like. You need to drop the blue when in snowy areas though. This is all on my monitor though.

I'm really looking forward to the day someone has a Titan 12gb gpu and shows 100+ fps in Skyrim, a 4 year old game lol! It really is crazy that the technology is still not able to keep up with a four year old game. That is truly a testament to how ahead of it's time Skyrim is!

vividian massively drops my performance I've actually installed all the Vvividian performance option in the Fomod now and my FPS is still like 45 to 50ish most of the time. i am seriously think about drop that enb and trying something less heavy. i was in Shadowgreen Cavern yesterday and my FPS dropped to like 25 which is unplayable.

I agree.

Once you move off of Adept the balance of damage output by various actors and methods starts to get distorted - it's also why I've backed away from things like Dual Combat Realism 7.x and Deadly Combat.

I do like AI changes to make NPCs more aggressive or make better use of blocking and attacks. I also like ACE Realistic Fighting module to make wearing light armor or sneaking riskier but also reward flanking attacks better.

I've also come to quite like ASIS (along with SIC, HLE and Deadly Dragons) for balancing things - additional potions for enemies are good and additional spawns create a threat of being overwhelmed by mobs as well keeping dungeons fresh with additional unexpected challenges.

The other suggestion I highly recommend to make combat more challenging and interesting is to use Dynamic Potions - don't allow potion (and food) effects to stack and also have all effects spread out over time - the preset I use forthis mod has potions of minor healing (for example) heal 2 points per second for 60 seconds. This means that you absolutely can't just spam potions whenever your health gets low - even vigorous healing only adds 8 health per second and you can't stack the effect. This means potions are not a get out of jail free card and get you instantly back to full health but rather something that needs to be used early to help you tip the balance in a long combat.

As an aside I really have come to dislike combat mods that massively increase the odds of getting one (or two) shotted - however realistic they might be they ruin immersion and roleplaying for me.

k. I've got weird lines around the metal bands. Looking at it closer it's like the texture is "off". I've tried without the Skyrim Realistic Overhaul texture, too, and it's still off.

edit: well, whatever my problem was, I fixed it in nifskope. basically deleted the barrel mesh (but not the lids) from Animated Clutter, then pasted SMIM meshes in (and also added the necessary links). And even better: I get SMIM textures, too, which are better than SRO! Already tried it out in-game and the barrels are friggin' beautiful! (I'm so proud)

Should CCF be a master for the WAF_CC_SIC Patch.esp in Wrye Bash? I Was wondering since the new mod has CCF, WAF, and SIC as mod dependencies in the guide.

It is not technically a master as WAF has all the assets I imported (keywords) but I change the clothing to have the same properties as CCF clothing. (There are only a few instances of playable clothing in SIC where CCF had made changes - mostly Mage robes of various sorts if I recall.
