Question

I'm getting CTD when I'm trying to start a new game.
Yes, my specs are bad, but it worked before (in the previous installations of Skyrim, I used STEP then, on this version too).
I skipped a few mods from STEP manual but I looked at requirements and compatibility patches.
I also installed a few other mods (like SAM and UNP).

This time I tried to use Bashed Patch and it went as in STEP Guide was said but I know that I had some issues with this a few years ago.

Yes, I used LOOT, though this thing is very inaccurate and often makes a bad choices.

First, I read your other post. Ignore the PMOP messages when installing STEP. If you allowed MO to reorganize your mods in the left pane, undo the change by manually putting them where they are listed in the Guide.

Where and when does it crash exactly?

  • Start of the game (before main menu)?
  • On the game menu?
  • When starting a new game (before game loads)?
  • Game starts then crashes during scene?

Also, you have no custom patch so I'm positive you have undesirable mod conflicts.

Ok, I reinstalled everything and now I can start a new game, but outside of staring location (Live Another Life cell) game crashes.

Even if you are not using an ENB and only intending to use ENBoost try installing all of the stock ENB files (you can always Shift+F12 in game to completely disable all ENB effects and save on performance).  I had this issue ages ago, and there are many many reports in the SRLE Requiefied/YASH'd Up guides of users experiencing the same crash.  Installing all the files fixes the issue.  You can use either the stock ENB files or a full custom ENB, works either way.

The other reason that sometimes happens is when you start a new game, you're getting a lot of scripts firing to load in mods etc. I'm sure you've seen it rolling down the screen where it says MCM found xx new menus etc.

I usually wait till all that's stopped before I try and leave the cell or whatever I'm doing, just to not give the engine a conniption while trying to load the 'world' as well as everything else.

Much the same reason why games occasionally crash on entering the Helgen Keep with the vanilla start.
