Bealdwine
Skyrim Configurator is a small program offering a GUI method to alter settings in the Skyrim.ini and Skyrimprefs.ini files for those unhappy with finding/altering these manually through a text editor. As far as I can see all the major options for tweaking are included but I feel the instructions are a bit lacking. That said the app does offer some popup info as you hover over selections (tick boxes) and could aid the less technically inclined with a simple and foolproof way to add in recommended settings. Farlo
Since it's not in STEP at the moment I'd propose moving it to the recommendations section, unless this forum is going to be expanded past the current list of STEP mods.
z929669
This is essentially an INI-tweaking GUI, so moved to this thread. Will move back if TC is likely to add it to STEP as a recommended app.
venkman781
Combining this tool with the tweaks over on nvidia's site might be a good approach.
NihilCredo
Can you just point this to any skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini files in any folder? This would make it play well with Mod Organizer's profiles.
Bealdwine
Combining this tool with the tweaks over on nvidia's site might be a good approach. Maybe better to suggest it's use with TheCompilers tweak advice, problem being all those pesky ATI users ;) But obviously any ini tweaks can be tried using this app.
stoppingby4now
I'm curious. Was there new config options introduced in one of the recent patches, and if so, does Skyrim Configurator know about them?
Bealdwine
I'm curious. Was there new config options introduced in one of the recent patches, and if so, does Skyrim Configurator know about them? The only things I can think of would be the introduction of the grass shadowing effects in update 1.5, and iirc, there was a tick box option related to this in the version of SC I used. Will check properly later.
stoppingby4now
I've downloaded SC, but haven't even fired it up yet. Too many distractions lately.
frihyland
There are definitely new grass tweaks available and I wouldn't be surprised if there are new camera tweaks as well. I Spent all day yesterday downloading stuff from Nexus, today I get to play with it all.
stoppingby4now
Just found out that if skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini are set to read only, SC crashes. D'oh.

frihyland
I would think that Wyre Bash would have problems as well.
stoppingby4now
Wrye Bash throws an exception, but still continues on its merry way.
TechAngel85
I just ran across this mod via a mod review video. They've updated it since the postings here and I'd be interested in seeing how well it plays with everything now. At the very least this could be a great tool to initially set up your INI before manual editing. At the very most and best it could be used to replace most of the manual INI tweaks and launcher settings at the beginning of STEP, essentially combining everything into one tool. It's more user friend for new modders too, though a wiki guide would need to be written for it. I might look into this and see if it'll be able to replace most of the manual tweaking since I've already reset my Skyrim to vanilla... Change Log since last posting: 1.5.1.1 -added Radial blur level option "off" to turn of radial blur completly -added donate link to about window 1.5.1 -fixed start up crash when configs were read-only -added Block distance -added split distance multiplier -added sky cell fade distance -added near distance sliders -added multi-language support -added about dialogue 1.5 -added option to disable the intro -added grass shadow option(doesn't seem to work yet, mailed bethesda about that) -added "unload cells on fast travel" option -added "allow screenshots" option -added file selection option for the launcher -fixed a bug in the importer 1.4.5.1 -fixed save path corruption 1.4.5 -added export and import window -added "enable border regions" option -added Shadow LOD and border region preview handler He's fixed the read-only crash problem and is looking into the grass shadows.
