ACCEPTED Superior Lore-Friendly Hair - HD textures (by skyrimaguas)
exploiteddna replied to FCqt's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
yeah that looks quite a bit better. The other thing is, let's say hypothetically that all of the meshes were fixed and everything is nice an smooth, the textures from superior LF hair still give a type of hair that is very smooth and silky. The question is whether or not that is acceptable to have on every single NPC in the game. Let me install SLFH the the BVH mod you just mentioned, and I'll find some of the hairstyles that i found particularly disgusting in the past when using SLFH and see if the improvements from BVH help. But yeah.. that screenshot you posted does look pretty good -

i completely disagree. problem with superior LF hair is that its too smooth in some areas. look at those screens and look towards the front on all of them (i.e. vertical strip of hair closest to the forehead/front of head). there are certain hairstyles too that its accentuated even worse and looks really really bad IMO. Some of the hair will be more rugged looking and then you have this one area thats all smooth and silky like they used a gallon of conditioner on it or something lol. I think its too smooth. Ill find some better screens when i have time and show you compares..its pretty awful. Some of it i think is the fault of the meshes, but until we get better meshes, i dont think we can use textures as 'fine' as this. Choppy meshes with super smooth hair.. looks dumb. At least with the rough/rugged/not-so-smooth hair it at least matches the choppy meshes and helps blend everything in. IDK its hard to explain, but hopefully someone out there knows what im saying and can back me up :) -

SKYRIMLE Hectrol CAVES DELUXE HighRes Retex (by Hectrol)
exploiteddna replied to thalastwon's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Ive got to be honest, sometimes i do notice the stria while im running through a cave in-game and at times it is very heavy (like every direction, wrapped all around you). But i think these situations are few and far between. I dunno, i'm torn. At times i think we should go for it, and other times im against it. Its difficult for me to remain objective here because i think i like using the Hectrol for my personal use but i have to remind myself that this isnt a vote for personal agenda, but rather for STEP. And when i remind myself of this, it lends reassurance that I made the right choice in voting for Beauty of Skyrim -
yep i hear ya. no exams for me until august 1st but def have term papers due. ugh.

would have to make changes to the ini. or else a lot of the new parameters that didnt exist in the original binary (dll) that was used for Unreal will just automatically default to 1. You could load up the original ini with the new binary, have it default all unspecified parameters to 1, which will then add those parameters to the ini for you, then exit the game and tweak the new parameters to match the preexisting ones.

this is pretty much what i was eluding to a few posts back.. as i started digging through the individual maps and comparing them to highres DLC and/or textures.bsa, they look to be the same exact textures. Now, this isnt true for all of it, but i did find a significant amount. im glad someone with credibility has backed me up :) as to why its not on nexus anymore, i do not know exactly what happened. ive seen mods taken down or people banned from nexus for pissing off the wrong people in the forum chatter. but as far as i know, it was something a little more serious that caused SRO to be removed. -

haha yeah i wish it did double vram :) Not that i could use 8gb in skyrim anyways, but still
-
is there anything I can do to directly help with that (i.e. anything other than testing mods)? or is it all admin type stuff that cant really be done at all by someone with only MT level 'clearance'?

hmm yunno if that was a legit option i would really have to reconsider my vote. ...yeah, the more i think about that idea the more i like it. -

ok good deal. thanks, i wasnt sure so figured id just mention it. -
another tool for conflicts is tes5view. simply make a copy of your tes5edit executable and rename it tes5view.exe and youre good to go. I dont have much experience using it, but i know its main purpose is conflict resolution (IIRC). also, i believe tes5edit has a few scripts that you can run on whatever mods are loaded up that will generate a conflict report and save it to you install directory.. im pretty sure.

nice shots buddy, and i agree with your assessment. Beauty of Skyrim wins my vote as well. I do have a point of discussion though .. Hectrol texture pack doesnt cover mines i dont believe (correct me if im wrong). Although the caves textures are used inside of mines, I dont believe the hectrol pack actually covers any of the textures located in textures\dungeons\mines (like BoS does) -

interesting, i didnt know that. I bought skyrim when it came out, but I didnt stop playing/modding oblivion and switch to skyrim until january/february of this year .. and by the time i found SRO it was blacklisted. So ive never really known much about it, its origins or its author. But yeah some of the textures in the landscape section or dirt cliffs were seemingly identical to vanilla, and for some reason i used to think that most of his/her work was done from scratch or heavily modified from vanilla. guess i was wrong :) -
AFAIK there is quite a bit still needing to be done.. but don't quote me on that. Im a little unsure of where our/priorities should be (i.e. which mods need testing for 2.3 and which can wait for later release). Like the langley pack is a daunting process and I feel getting that completely and properly tested for 2.3 could be tough, depending of course on when exactly we're hoping to release 2.3. But yeah, one of the admins will chime in and give you a better answer, im sure.

At this rate he will. I've also been finding a good number of textures in my SRO that are, for all intents and purposes, identical to vanilla/HRDLC. So yeah we could definitely use a replacement that is completely original textures (or at least the majority). He's been releasing a lot lately so I'd say within the next couple months we'll have a pretty solid foundation assuming the release rate stays about the same -
i could test it out, but not sure my results will be any different. im currently running the 13.7.13 enb binary for personal use so it would be really easy to swap in the 192 binary. maybe tomorrow..

I don't think I agree. The important point is not whether it's true to Bethesda's intent or not but rather whether the result (in context in game) is better or worse at conveying the style the user wants. If I want a shiny clean high fantasy look and these textures provide it then I should use it no matter what Bethesda's intent was, similarly if i want a dark brooding decrepit look and the textures provide that. Of course users all have different desires, so to be effective a mod review should point out how well the mod goes in achieving a particular atmosphere, not just how true to to Bethesda's original intent a mod it. (Remember if reviews for mods for consideration in SR and SEP packs are to be included here then judging how well a mod fits to the most restrictive definition of STEP is not the principal point of mod reviews here.)right, but im not talking about any user, im talking about STEP. I thought ive read many times how STEP is about enhancing the game without deviating too far from the game's original intent. perhaps i misinterpreted the goals. I only can give my 2 cents as a 'member' of this community.. whether or not my opinion is considered by those in charge is up to them EDIT: and by no means was i suggesting that this mod was too far from vanilla. i was merely pointing out that, in general, we try to find a balance, thats all. And in fact, if anything i was advocating FOR this pack in response to the post before mine that was indicating the textures looked too 'new looking' or something along those lines -
lol. i wasnt bashing you bro, but im just telling it like i see it. it really has little to do with you (although you may actually perpetuate people's ignorance) and more with how people are misinformed, uneducated in skyrim modding mechanics, and/or only concerned with results and not how the results are achieved. But, I digress.. PS - Ive already given you the appropriate and deserved accolades for your hard work, both here and on the nexus, long before this discussion on mod titles and misnomers ;)

my sentiments exactly

maybe we have different idea of what's good. Me personally, I wouldve liked to see it not be so choppy compared to 168. But yunno, to each their own :D Edit: are you using the enb_reference.esp file and the associated BSA?? I would assume not, but you never know
