  1. It is a thermaltake tower... they used to make them with a giant fan on the side... on their armor series. Not sure if they are still in production though. Case is old but sturdy... Also it is diameter.. not radius lol! ;)
  2. You can go see my stuff in the icy thread in the mod authors section :P Well sparrow can anyways. I guess I can throw in my 5 cents about it there.. do not want to derail this thread more then it already is.
  3. Well when the choice is between a practically soundless 25cm fan of doom.. and 20kg of extra metal... I pick the fan of doom! Best investment I have made in terms of cooling ever! Downside is ofc that it kinda sucks in just about every hair my cat drops in the vicinity.. so I have to do dedusting somewhat regularly... hence why I would prefer to get water for the CPU... so I would not really have to worry about that anymore!
  4. I have a 25cm giant fan of doom on my case side to constantly blow loads of nice air all over all components.. hence why the temperatures are lower... the smaller stock cooler is actually a benefit in this regard since it have almost no air flow obstruction at all. Also the motherboard thermal design is rather nice to. It diverts quite a bit of heat of it as well. Got an ASUS Sabertooth one for reference. The single hottest area in the entire case is the GPU as it should be since it is mostly what is working anyways. Edit: Here a screen of my idle temp values. Did verify upon getting the board that they display properly.. hence measuring the temperature with an external probe at the locations of the sensors. https://www.dropbox.com/s/bef264l26vvzbbd/temp.jpg Granted it has been a long while since I properly stress tested under full load... the 42C was from when it was new and I was setting the baseline for what I needed to do cooling wise. So these days I do expect that it could potentially get near 50C but still quite far from the 60C I do not want to get near.
  5. Same model as you i7 3770k... and no it is not when idle... it is under load :P highest recorded temp here is 42C. And I do not have any noise issues from mine... relative to the other components. Guess I am one of the lucky ones then! Edit: Currently running at 34C idle... average case temp across all measured locations 38C with GPU exhaust spot being the hottest place as usual. I also expect it to be a bit less efficient now since it has been months since I did a proper fan cleaning indepth. But really just hope that it will survive until I can afford to get some water cooling installed.... eventually.
  6. lol octo.. you would take the technical specifications with a grain of salt? :P Just because it works does not mean it is a good idea! Also I really wonder what type of stock coolers you have been working with. My current Intel one works like a charm keeping temps down below 40C and it does not even come close to sounding like a jet... or even remotely close to being able to compete with the case fans! As long as you do not OC then the stock cooler is certified to work.. if it does not you simply RMA to intel directly since then their factory QC made a mistake. I do not know if AMD´s stock coolers are worth much since I have not used AMD stock coolers.... ever. Also root.. just wow! Smashing up the stuff before you even put it together! :)
  7. If you did not know you could do that then all is fine! Sorry for suspecting it of being ... sinister stuff! Just with the recent influx of stuff like that on nexus then one have to be keep an eye out!
  8. Camera positions are always mod related... a .dll hook could do it but none currently do it because... why. So most likely worth looking at any mod that alters camera in any way. Or the heights of actors etc.
  9. Okay this looks rather suspicious... sorry to say. It just does not make sense.. if you replace every texture from the bsa. with loose alternatives... you would still need to load the alternatives and hence not gain anything. Also the lack of info and very limited description page etc. just makes me think that this is either a prank mod or something sinister!
  10. The feature can be disabled, and you can tell that you got no intention of endorsing... so I kinda fail to see what all the "It is nagging " arguments are about. Just because person A is good at remembering every single mod they feel like endorsing does not imply that person B is. I think the way they have implemented it is rather good overall.
  11. I personally think we got a good track record for being helpful in the PC construction department here on the forums... not as many fervert believers here that always try to make you pick A over B. And in general sound advice from people all around. As for the build... that PSU looks just too small to handle that rig... combining that CPU with that GPU and assuming they both run at peak .. while you add in a few HDD´s or SSD´s then the math does not add up in my head. Fairly certain that the GPU on that model is not THAT energy efficient. Even if it can fit inside then you would be running at the lower egde of the efficiency curve which means you pay a higher price for something that a larger silver certified one at its peak efficiency could do. As I recall then Gold certified ones have a peak at 92% efficiency (at about half usage of the total, or a little over half) and then depending on model and usage drop by up to 5%. As for cooling then it entirely depends on where you live and how you plan to have the PC placed relative to everything else. Since you are on a budget and cutting it close then air is most likely the only solution. Intel have really decent stock coolers on their chips most of the time, and the GPU should come with a very decent one. Assuming you got a decent case as well then I got nothing else to add.
  12. Well it is still one of the more annoying bugs.. but at least console unequip seems to fix it.. if not then I just use char gen in the helgen keep instead. Such a minor thing only at the start. Yes a bit immersion breaking... but really I have spent so many hours trying to find the reason for this that I just got tried of it.. if it happens easy solutions exist.. that does not involve looking at more tes5edit tables!
  13. Yeah I got it today as well... had a list going all the way back to 2008 :S Man did not even think they kept those records with all the server transfers etc. But oh well now everything has been taken care of!
  14. Well any audiophile will always find some sort of error unless you run with gold coated cabels and have an external setup worth some peoples mortage... So for audio I never really pay much attention.. it is such a niche area that you only throw money at it when everything else is already super perfect anyways. Or if you got loads of spare cash. As for the components then not bad, not super epic but in there between. Will most likely be able to last a few years assuming the next generation of GPU´s can be plugged into it.
  15. Fairly certain you are thinking ash as in something was burned like wood. In which case that would be off. The original looks like someone took a jellyfish and steped on it. The 2nd looks like someone added salt on top of it after stepping on it, and the last actually looks like it was once upon a time not a jellyfish!
  16. At least this time we are not going to go about much with realism! Since well.. it is robots in a fantasy setting! That said then I agree it would be best if all the dwemer stuff got a nice boost. They to tend to look like they could use some love. Perhaps once I am done playing with icicles I will try my hand at it!
  17. Yeah you are only ever going to see the detail in the texture if you go up close.. I made the intensities etc based on the closet walkable distance you can get to it. It is up on that vantage point in the image. From there you can see the detail in the texture. However from further away the only thing you see is the difference between the pattern and the yellow background. Depending on which feedback I get I will make adjustments to it. But I am trying to limit myself from nitpicking too much over stuff atm so I can get all the stuff that have annoyed me for ages done instead!
  18. Got to admit that after these few days of compare shots across quite a few mods, then it seems that unless something is essentially just a rescale then it is not good enough. For the next version of the guide I think we should have a debate on getting a more clearly defined "acceptable style change"... It makes no sense to expect that talented people just do rescales of vanilla any more. Also I do not agree with your apparent definition of "vanilla friendly" in this case... I would say this mod is VERY vanilla friendly! There are not radical design changes... I still find that this mod blends in nicely with other dwemer textures. That said then the size should really not be a relevant issue... it is always far better to have a base file of high quality then alter the compression and size manually. We do it for just about every texture.. so I fail to see how this is an issue. Also 2k for an enemy model.. that is mainly only present inside interiors... even smaller laptops would not have a problem with that since the interior memory requirements are so paltry. Hope that all made some sense hehe!
  19. Well it is just a giant lamp really! :) But nah... the reason it is yellow is because I use the emit value of the model to cause it to shine... this color is rather intense and gets added to the underlaying inner layer texture.. causing it to be less defined. However depending on ENB or vanilla then you can get rather different looks. The main reason I have not made the texture darker is because since the sphere is static.. then I found the splotchy look was less appealing then the current one. If I somehow figure out if it is possible to make the inner part of the model rotate in nifskope.. then I will redo the texture for another type I have.
  20. Gonna revisit the falmer glow on soon enough... it is still not ideal that it make shimmer mist look decent while making it so the effect is so dim that it cant be seen in blackreach! The decal is really epic in blackreach since there is so far the the ceiling. Might have to try to do a full cell edited shimmer mist instead. Anyways hope you like the crystals in the star! :)
  21. It is more or less just the directional z value in the weather and then bloom amp´s up this color. You can alter the weather to only have grey smoke by doing full desaturation of the lighting contribution etc. I find this is a better way and then use bloom to get back a little bit of color. Alternatively then I guess it would be possible to alter the particle system so that it behaves in a different way. But not sure there.
  22. Take your screenshots with ENB Shift + insert by default. Or fraps, or go through the whole setting up steam thing. Many ways to do it. I always just use the ENB way since it is 100% reliable and it makes the images as bmp and then you can get the best results with any after effects you might want to do etc.
  23. So now we can have GIANT flying mammoths when they step on a crab! Excellent!
  24. Gladly. Instead of weirdly splotchy low res teal awkardness.. then it is smooth crystalline blueish look. Nothing particularly fancy at all. AFAIK then this is the only location where the model and texture is used. But might be wrong..
  25. It is the lighting influence on the particles. The bloom amp´s when rendering through particles. You will always be able to turn them grey however.
